really liked it
bookshelves: book-challenge, zzread-sept-2010, demons, first-in-series

Wow! Who would have thought that demons could be so hot and sexy?

Pleasure Unbound was an absolute pleasure to read. The book was exciting, exhilarating, and oh, so steamy. The steamy parts fit in very well with the story. From the very first page to the last, I was pulled into this very imaginative world. The world building was fantastic. It was pure magic. I didn’t want to put the book down.

I liked how the author challenged our preconceived notions. Are all demons evil? Is it possible to be a “good” demon as opposed to an “evil” demon? In this book, demons hold jobs, have families, and lives similar to humans. Demons are organized enough to have their own justice system, moral codes, a hospital, and the ability to live peacefully amongst humans.

The character development was well done. Eidolon, our demon doctor has a rigid moral code while he is in the Underworld General Hospital (UGH – love the acronym!). He has vowed to treat anything that comes in, even a human. When an injured human demon hunter is brought into his hospital, he treats her because she is in his hospital and his moral code requires him to do so. Eidolon is a special character – he is fiercely loyal to his family, he is dedicated to his hospital. Eidolon is a seminus demon, and he will soon undergo a change to a mature demon. And of course, Eidolon is drop dead gorgeous. Tayla comes from a completely different world. Tayla is a member of the Aegis, the demon hunters. She was raised to believe that all demons are evil and must be killed. Her ideas of good vs. evil are challenged when she meets Eidolon. Their relationship is full of fire and passion.

I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

AH Thanks. I was in such a good mood when I read it.

Greta is Erikasbuddy NEAT!! Now I want to read it even more :)

Vered Shana Tova :)

Greta is Erikasbuddy LOLZ! U will NOT believe what just happened at my library !! LMAO!!

So, I go to pick up the 1st and 2nd Demonica book at my library. They've been in for 2 days and I just got out of the house to get them.

I get there and the little old lady hands me over one book. The 2nd!! book. I look at her and tell her there are 2 books waiting for me.

She checks the monitor and yes and deedy there are. So, she hunts around and can't find it. THen she enlists the help of a 2nd little old lady (I'm not too sure if I should be thankful that they were women or not... the other librarian is a dude lolz!) and they search the shelves saying my name and PLEASURE UNBOUND over and over again lolz.

Finally, they figure that it might have gotten knocked into the SEND BACK BIN (which is right below the check shelf) and reserved me another copy (all my stuff comes from different libraries).

Too funny, right?

I guess I won't be starting till mid- next week lolz!!

Had to share ;)

AH Too funny!

Greta - wants Pleasure Unbound - that is really embarrassing!

I went to the used book store, spent an hour browsing and yapping with the store keeper and bought 8 books for $32. I find it's still a lot for used books, but I seem to buy in groups of 8. Plus I went to the library. I have 2-3 books that I will finish this weekend though, so all should be good.

Greta is Erikasbuddy squee squee on your finds!!

HAHAS! YEs!! Greta Pleasure Unbound was a bit off the wall... I bet you anything when I go back next week my geeky dude librarian will be there. LOLZ!! Too funny :)

AH I love going to this bookstore. It's like a treasure hunt.

Greta is Erikasbuddy Me 2!! Especially used ones!! I wish you lived closer!! We'd have a blast in that mega one near my house :)

Vered Lol Greta!!! Good thing they don't use megaphones in the library :D

I love book stores too, can spend hours there. Only lately all my books are swimming to me across the ocean... They don't do PNR/UF in Israel book stores...

new_user Window shopping at bookstores is the best pasttime. :D

I love the UGH acronym too! Teehee! So clever!

Vered UGH??

message 18: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH UGH - Underworld General Hospital. Clever, huh?

Vered, my library's idea of PNR/UF is Anita Blake. That's it, that's all. Sad, huh?

Vered Tell me about it.... No luck here either.

message 20: by Shay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Shay UUUFFF!

Got the same problem... I've got 60$ in a gift cupon for a book-store and I CANT FIND ANYTHING!!!!!

not one anormal UF, PNR or even HR!!!
Nothing... only books i already read or books i will not read even if its free, i have the day off and someone is holding them for me and refilling my coffie.... F&@%!#$%!!!

(Vered, its for Tzomet Sfarim if you were wondering...)

Vered Shay Tzomet at Dizingof Center often have books that no one else have. Maybe you should try there? All these gift coupons and no where to go.... ::sigh::

AH Vered, do you have an ereader?

Vered Yep, got the IPad for my 40th birthday :))

message 24: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH Mazel Tov! Hmmm, not sure if this works with ipad and out of US - Kindle, Kobo, Sony all have free books that they offer online. Sometimes, it's junk, other times they can be pretty interesting. You can load the kindle app on a computer and read on a computer, so maybe it will work on an ipad. Last month, Kobo gave away over 20 free books from recognizable authors.

message 25: by Shay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Shay Kobo?! I'll check it out, never hears of it...

and MAZAL TOV Vered!

IPOD is like, you know, the best birthday present eva! right?!

Vered Thanks guys, although my birthday was in May it's never too late ;)
Kobo is great. Shay, they have very good prices and free stuff. Amazon charge 2 dollars for the "free" books. Apparently it costs much more to DOWNLOAD across the ocean (I have the Kindle app)!? !? The same thing with every ebook, it's always 2 dollars more then the initial price....

I'll check Sony too. Thanks AH!

message 27: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH Check their sites every couple of days or so. Books appear and disappear regularly. Books that are free in the US are available for a charge in Canada, so I assume that the same thing would happen to you guys.

Kobo is a no-frills reader that supports epub and pdfs. Dont bother with pdfs on Kobo because they require a lot of navigation. Kobo is available in Canada, US, New Zealand (??) and I'm not sure where else. So you can order books from many sources, not just Amazon.

Kobo also uses e-ink so you can read in the sun or shade. You'll need a light at night.

I have a list of websites that follow the free downloads. If I find it, I'll email to you guys.

new_user Hey, cool! Congrats on the iPad and birthday, V!

Vered Thanks NU! And thanks AH for the info!

message 30: by Shay (new) - rated it 4 stars

Shay Kobo is awesome! 10x so much for the tip!

message 31: by AH (new) - rated it 4 stars

AH Is Kobo available in Israel? It was a little buggy at first, but the beauty of Kobo is that it is adaptable and you can load books through Calibre and Adobe digital editions. And it comes with 100 free classics (which I found annoying, especially when I opened a book by mistake and it had a lot of pages - I can't get it off my I'm reading list - Now there is a setting to not show those books)
