And one day I realised that I haven't read anything paranormal by her. Spellbound was my first attempt to read a paranormal romance by this author and I cannot say that I was impressed. To be honest I almost did not finish the book. The world of Warlocks, familiars and hunters is interesting, but unfortunately there is not much complexity in the story and the characters lack depth. Victoria the powerful cat shifter familiar is like a caricature of a true witch. I could not understand how she submits so easily while she was so thirsty for revenge. After a while the only thing that she thinks and does is sex. Max Westin is a gripping character in the beginning, but soon I also lost interest in him because he also only thinks about sex and only invest in sex in order to convince Victoria. Overall it was a slightly enjoyable but easily forgotten love story. ...more

TVery clever children's book with beautiful illustrations. It explains how different animals while they see the same cat, they can see it differently. The prespective changes every time. Since it is a book that is written for very young children, most of the phrases and group of words are repeated. It is an excellent book to read to a toddler in order to learn to connect words with images. A KG2 kid can read it on his/her own with minimum help....more

Riley is an Alpha ShowDancer, i.e a Wolf and Mercy is an Alpha DarkRiver, i.e. a leopard. They are both strong and they both do not back down. Can a cat and a wolf mix? Especially when they are both so dominant? And above all since they do not like submitting?
“Not so fast are we, wolfie?” “I was trying,” he said, blocking her next set of blows with his arms, “not to hurt you.” “I’m not a frickin’ princess”
Since there are no Alpha unmated males in DarkRiver, Mercy has been left unmated and with not much of sex life really. Riley will become her sex buddy because he is the only one her cat accepts as an equal partner.
It will be casual at first but later on the feelings of jealously and possessiveness will make them unable to live without each other. Especially when two cats arrive from a different pack to test their comparability with Mercy.
“You make me so fucking insane, I want to mark you all over. So everyone knows you’re mine.” The leopard growled in her throat. “Not yours.” She was her own person, a predator same as him. “We’ll see about that.”
I love their passion and the sexual intensity and their fights for dominance. A very intense and steamy story!
“You want to claw at me, kitty-cat? Come on.” Her hands clenched. She really wasn’t this much of a bitch. But goddamn Riley had a way of lighting her fuse. “Sorry, I don’t beat defenceless puppies.” He laughed. He actually laughed. She hissed at him....more

When he was in college, he fell in love with a half leopard named Charma. But Charma was promised to her pride leader's son and one morning she ran away in order to protect Brand. So for almost 10 years Charma is miserably mated to a man that she hates and who abuses her, while Brand tries to forget about her and he has always different parterns during the mating heat. When Charma learns that the Cats are about to attack the Wolves for revenge (because of Anton and his mate and the damage they caused - see previous book His Purrfect Mate), she tries to warn the wolves. And Brand and Charma meet again. This time Brand will not let her go.
I really LOVED this book. I really hope that at some point Laurann Dohner will continue with this series. The stories could surely be expanded- especially now that Wolves have started liking Cats....more

That was the day that New York, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and the East Bronx will be merged in the Great New York City.
The city is protected by the ordinary police force, but also by Metropolitan Witch Police, MWP, which deals with magic related crimes. Because New York is full of magic and hexes. A hex can be used as a lock, as an alarm, as protection etc.
The ordinary police force is highly corrupted and not really accepted by most civilians. MWP is honorable and treats equally women and men, witches and familiars of any form. The MWP headquarters are full of witches and familiars. Familiars are basically shifters who mostly prefer their animal form and they can enhance the magic of witches. Especially, when the right familiar is bonded with his/her witch; the magic they will produce will be off the charts.
Tom Halloran is a cop in the ordinary police force. He is man with many secrets:
• a few years ago used to be an outlaw, • his name was Liam, • he was a member of the O’ Connell tunnel gang, • he is a witch and a hexbreaker.
But Tom is really a good, decent man. He has reinvented himself and now he just wants to be an ordinary, boring, unnoticeable policeman.
Cicero is a cultured, bohemian familiar who works for MWP. Deep down, he is truly a cute black cat.
When Tom and Cicero are brought together for a common investigation, Cicero is shocked. The rough, not very bright Irishman is his witch.
I love the fact that the writer mixes real events with paranormal fiction. It made me curious about the historical events of that particular period in New York. The atmosphere of the book reminded me of the film “Gangs of New York”, while the paranormal side of the book was different from the shifters’ books I normally read.

It was ha-ha funny and made you feel happy-good. The second "Assassin's Pride" describes such tragic situations that although you will like it, it will make you sad-good. I don't know how to describe it in a different way...
Poor Poppy, he is such a tortured boy. He used to be a slave-boy until Dean who was looking for his disappeared friend, rescued him from his master. And then Dean has to play "master" role because it is the only way Poppy can function.
The part where Poppy shifts for his first time is a plus moment in the book. You will not be able to stop smiling with all this purring and hissing. And I promise you that things will get better in Poppy's life. Much much better....more

It is about a cat shifter and when I say cat shifter, I don't mean a lion or a tiger or something bad and powerful.
The story is about a "domestic" cat shifter, a kitty cat, a little furball. Domestic cat shifters are very rare in paranormal romance. Just this characteristic makes the book unique and it deserves an extra star.
Noah is a bit naive young man who likes living alone with his cat Precious. He suffers from a mild Obsessive Compulsory Disorder and he knows that someday someone will kill him. It is inevitable. As we discover later Gage has a big secret involving a Kingdom and his bad uncle Geraldo.
One afternoon he gets into trouble when he gives a lift to a trained assassin, Gage. Gage follows Noah home where they ended up in a hot shower together. And the adventure begins...
To be honest, I was not sure this was truly a shifter's book until after page 70 and this was a big surprise. After the first shifting there was a lot of purring. And I mean A LOT OF PURRING. The guy was purring almost in every situation and every other page. But it is ok, I love cats :)
