It mainly focuses on the relationship between Hugh, the powerful pride leader, and Johnnie, the Siphon of all this power. Hugh initially does not treat Johnnie as a person. He treats him mostly as an object that it shouldn't be touched or talked to. As a result, Johnnie is an unhappy isolated lion that wants to kill himself. At some point, there will be Hugh's realization of how much he has wronged Johnnie and their connection will grow. Unfortunately, there is not much world building in terms of lion prides or shifters. I would like more details and maybe more action on the side besides a lame betrayal....more
I just ADORE Curran! These short stories from his point of view give a great insight in his complex character.
UNICORN LANE (Magic Bites)
Curran meets I just ADORE Curran! These short stories from his point of view give a great insight in his complex character.
UNICORN LANE (Magic Bites)
Curran meets Kate for first time at Unicorn Lane and he is very pleased with what he sees and with what he smells. Come to me, mouse, don't be scared.
FERNANDO'S (Magic Bites)
Curran and Kate go to the very posh restaurant Fernando's with different dates. It is interesting to see how much Kate's presence affects Curran. He is taken with her from the beginning.
SOUP (Magic Burns)
I set the soup in front of her with a spoon. "Thanks." She actually thanked me. This was going well. I had half expected her to throw the soup at me. Kate grabbed the spoon and went at it. That's right, eat it. "Did you get the surveys? They were..." "On the dresser. Shut up and eat your soup."
Curran feeds Kate and as a shifter, his intentions towards Kate are clear. Kate will need some time to catch up and realise what this soup meant LOL
MIDNIGHT GAMES (Magic Strikes)
Curran is trapped in a loup cage by Kate. Kate is probably the only one who is not scared of him.
The only person who can free him is Julie and he needs to convice her. "Julie, I give you my word, I will do everything in my power to help our friends and punish our enemies."
HOT TUB (Magic Strikes)
Five goddamn minutes. They wouldn't let me have five goddamn minutes to myself. I wonder how Curran managed not to kill Derek after he interrupted him and Kate at the hot tub.
KATE'S ORIGIN (also referred to as Kate's Daddy) (Between Magic Strikes & Magic Bleeds)
Curran learns about Kate's daddy and about her terrible childhood. Kate was never allowed to be a child.
NAKED DINNER (Between Magic Strikes and Magic Bleeds)
Kate was waiting Curran for dinner. She is so excited and overwhelmed. What happened? Curran never appeared. Kate was heartbroken She couldn't forgive Curran. I couldn't forgive Curran.
So, let's rewind. What happened to Curran? Why did he let Kate waiting although this was his big chance to show to her how much he cared?
This is a short story that provides an insight to the big bad Alpha's day. Life is not easy for Curran. He needed to attend meetings, reach decisions, investigate crimes, be the jury and the judge, punish and try not to drop unconscious before his important date with the woman of his life.
Well, he managed to do everything except not being unconscious...and going to his date.
CONCLAVE (Magic Bleeds)
Kate goes on a date with Saiman. Curran almost kills Saiman. Saiman will never know how lucky he was.
Very very short trip inside Curran's head.

Dylan is an interesting character and it looks like the whole series' plot rotates around him. Every decision that all the Shifters’ towns take, every action and result seem to have Dylan in the background hiding in the shadows and influence all the decisions makers.
I am looking forward to reading his book, because apparently this is not the book with his full story – despite the fact that he is the main character.
But still this short novella will make the readers understand more Dylan's complicated character.
Dylan -remembers the decisions that he made in the past that basically saved his family and the rest of the shifters -understands that his past decisions-no matter how painful and bad for his ego and pride had been- have made his people survive and celebrate life- -realises that he is not a God. Some current decisions may be devastating for the future of his people and he needs to slow down and think. ...more
After a cruel attempt against his life by Morgan, the King of Lyonesse (the demesne of mixeKing Oberon and Dr. Kathryn Shaw
PNR Romance at its finest!
After a cruel attempt against his life by Morgan, the King of Lyonesse (the demesne of mixed-race people), King Oberon becomes critically ill. A magical needle has been inserted in his heart and it is slowly killing him. Oberon manages to stay alive by summoning his shifter part, but this only slows down his death. The desperate king decides to put himself into a coma and as a result Lyonesse becomes also an icy sleeping demesne waiting for its King to wake up. All the citizens scatter and his closest subjects and friends will try to find a cure for their sleeping King who remains in his frosted kingdom.
Dr. Kathryn Shaw is the personal physician and surgeon of Dragos. And she is the only one who can save Oberon. For this reason and as a special favour to Dragos and her friend Sophie (from Moonshadow), Kathryn will abandon her life, her job and her luxurious apartment in New York and she will enter the world of Dark Fairies who are in constant war with the Light Fairies. A new adventure will begin for her. Soon she will realise that Oberon will be the greatest adventure of her life.
“You are an adventure I’ve always wanted to take—and I’m so glad I have. But adventures have consequences…. You know, I’m not sure they would be adventures if they didn’t.”
I had such fun with this book. Oberon and Kathryn complement each other. Every dialogue they had, every interaction, it made me smile. When they slowly realize that they head to a fast unpredictable mating, they will be both be brave and ready.
Many favourite characters from the Moonshadow series and the Elder Races series make cameo appearances. Just be warned that if you haven't read Planet Dragos (Elder Races, #9.8), there will be spoilers about Elder Races....more

Darcy MacCormac and her family together with othOnly humans would take two beautiful three-story brick manors and turn them into houses of horror.
Darcy MacCormac and her family together with other shifters have been prisoners/slaves for the Scythe organization. The males are used for military operations. The females (sisters and mates) are used for labour work and are kept locked so that the males will obey. Darsy has been a prisoner for 10 years and she has never shifted. When she manages to escape, Cold Creek pack finds her and she manages to shift for the first time in her life.
Cosantir will order Owen and his brother Gawain to look after her and explain to her what being a female shifter means. Darsy, although she is happy in the pack, her only thoughts are her brothers and her friends who are Scythe's prisoners. Very soon the danger will reach the Cold Creek territory and the pack will need to fight back and save the prisoners.
The most interesting character in the story was definitely Owen. He is a cahir (warrior) who although he has protective instincts, he tries to avoid women. Owen had a horrible childhood, a mother who hated him and kept pushing him away. Now he is older, wiser and far away from his toxic mother. He loves his loneliness or this is what he thinks until his brother and Darsy become a part of his life.
“Was there ever a time Owen liked females, or was he born this way?”
I think the book could have been shorter, but it also had a few wonderful secondary stories that added pages like the pregnancy of Vicki (from Hour of the Lion).
“To cublings. The clan increases.” Everyone lifted their glasses. “The clan increases.”

Werebear Emma was never lucky in her life. She always wanted to belong somewhere, but her mother was cold when she was a child, her people banished her after her disastrous first gathering and she spent three years alone in the forrest in her bear form. After she gets injured by a hellhound who attacked human children that Emma tried to rescue, Cold Creek pack finds her. Cosantir assigns werebear Ben to look after her.
Ben is very angry bear since his panther brother Ryder abandoned him 5 years ago to follow a female. Now his brother is back and he has a cub with him. Ben obviously will let him stay.
Ben and Ryder will like Emma, but Emma is still tortured thinking of the reasons her people banished her three years ago. Moreover the mother of Ryder's child is back and she wants her child back. No matter how much a worthless mother she is, the law is clear. The mother can have the child, not the father. Cosantir will need to make a judgment.
Another very good addiction to The Wild Hunt Legacy series. Emma was just lovely. And her lovestory was satisfyingly content.
If you love Cherish Sinclair's BDSM stories, you will love her shifters' stories too 😉 ...more

Tiger is definitely one of the most favourite characters of the “Shifters Unbound series. He is the different one, the one that cannot fit in rules and collars and he never obeys the shifter town's leader.
This is something to be expected because Tiger was not created by Fae like the other shifters to be a slave. He was created by humans to be a super strong warrior. Possible he wishes that there was somebody else like him out there.
Not that he is not happy. He has his Carly and his baby son. Especially Carly always supports him. So, when he decides in the middle of the night to steal Dylan’s truck, leave the shifter town and follow his instincts because someone maybe in danger; Carly will go will him to help.
It doesn't really matter that they don't know where they are going.
And suddenly they will even realise that Connor has also followed them. So both Dylan and Liam will probably kill them.
A great adventure and moreover a new interesting shifter is introduced!
You can find Tiger mostly in these two books, although he makes appearances in almost every book recently: 1.

There are experiments by the humans to the humans and there is the sci-fi factor with a little time-traveling and a little space-travelling. At the earth, we will find the bear clan and the lion clan and the human clan, while space traveller Alexis has frog DNA. The book is definelety a sci-fi romance but with so many interesting elements that you can actually bypass the romance and focus on those.
The trip had been long and tedious, but it would’ve been a lot more boring, and, truth be told, probably impossible, if not for the frog DNA. ...more

Fury Kattalakis (Katagaria Were-hunter) and Angelia (Arcadian Were-hunter)
We have met Fury and all the Kattalakis brothers in book Night Play. Initially Fang and Vane did not trust Fury because he was coming from a different time period and they thought that he was Arcadian. All Arcadians hate Katagaria wolves and they consider them animals. Fang anf Vane did not know that Fury was born Arcadian, but soon he changed and he become Katagaria. When the other Arcadians found out (including his other Arcadian brother Dare), he was treated very badly, thrown out of his village and he almost died. One of the Arcadians that took part in his 'timoria' was his childhood friend Angelia who really hates Katagaria because they brutally killed her parents. After all these years, Fury still loves Angelia and he still tries to protect her. It doesn't matter that Angelia still thinks that he is a ruthless animal or that the Arcadian have discovered a weapon that destroys Katagaria. This book tells their story and their HEA. I loved it!

Michael and Claire
He grabbed on to her in so tight her bones bent. As he buried his head in her hair, his voice dropped to a growl. "Mine," he said."You are mine. Always."
A short story thar takes place in the same world as BDB, but it is not part of the main series or the spinoff. Maybe at some point in the future, we will have a connection with the Brothers, who knows? Ward has hinted that there might be something there that we will see again in the main series together with some answers.
Michael has been a prisoner of his own mother all his life. His only joy in life are women that his mother brings him as a present once per year. Michael is extremely innocent, gentle and nice...for a vampire. Claire is an attorney who visits strange Miss Leeds for one of her cases. After a cup of tea, she will wake up at her client basement and she will become acquintant with Michael. She will spend 3 days with him before she is set free. But she will never forget him.
This is a really well-written short story. I wish it was longer, but I have the feeling that we will see again Michael and Claire. ...more

Now they are sitting on a seat at a railway station with trunks and playboxes piled up round them on their way to school.
But Narnia needs them back. More precisely PRINCE CASPIAN, the true king of Narnia needs them back.
And the children are ready for a new adventure in the land that thousand - years ago they used to be Kings and Queens themselves.
Because time passes at different speeds in Narnia.
And now the landscape has changed and the men are ruling the fairytale land. The talking animals and the mythical creatures are hiding trying to survive. Everyone remembers Narnia's golden age and everyone is hoping that a just King will appear and will bring prosperity and safety again to the rightful population of Narnia.
There two stories in this book that mingle: The story of the prince Caspian and how he claims this throne and the story of the four children’s return to Narnia. It may look confusing when you read it, but everything will make sense after a certain point in the book.
Then begin a new paragraph…..

“Behold, the Immortal One, the In-Shinar, the Blood Blade of Atlanta.”
*few spoilers*
It’s a bittersweet feeling every time you reach at the end of “Behold, the Immortal One, the In-Shinar, the Blood Blade of Atlanta.”
*few spoilers*
It’s a bittersweet feeling every time you reach at the end of a journey. You feel satisfied because this trip has been fulfilling and full of memories, but at the same time you feel so sad because it is time that you need to move on with your life and you know that you will miss your fellow travellers, your companions.
Kate Daniels’s world has been an awesome journey for my: Mystical, mythical, magical, legendary, full of fantasy and a genuine storyline.
I don’t want to say goodbye to Katie and Curran and little Conlan. I don't want to say goodbye to their friends and enemies. And even if I know that the torch has been picked up by Hugh and Elara I still won't feel happy unless Katie appears in the future and messes up a bit Hugh's new life.
Unfortunately, as it was announced, this is the last book of the series. Katie has a few more things to say to her father and live another great adventure-although her father does not want to pick up the phone!
Humans are once more the weakest link in Atlanta (whole villages will disappear) and Katie still slaughters monsters with the precision, the sarcasm and the coolness of a well trained killer. Her downfall/weakness is that now she is not just a professional lonely exterminator, but she is also a wife and a mother.
“How about your responsibility as a wife and mother? What about that?”
Kate is now part of a family who loves her and wants to protect her and she wants to protect them back. She is more qualified anyway. Or maybe not?!?
“Is he silver?” I asked. Nobody said anything. “Is he silver?” I repeated, raising my voice. “Yes,” Julie whispered.
Kate also has her claimed city and the weak humans to protect and she has to come into terms that she is the daughter of a mythical creature , of a God, of an ultimate ruler who is not exactly the best and sweetest father figure.
“You are my daughter, Blossom. One of a kind.”
Soon things will become extremely complicated as it happens in every Kate Daniels' book – or is it Kate Lennart now?
People will change: “Some are born to godhood,” Roland said. “Others attain it.” Old forgotten enemies in the road of history will appear: “Neig?” The old druid peered at him. “Oh, that’s not good.”
Curran will always be there for his Kate: “I’ll never let you go.” I put my face into the crook of his neck. “You have to.” “No.” He kissed my hair. “You and me, Kate. We’re forever. Conlan will grow up and go his own way, and you and I will still be here, squabbling over who is going to save whom.”
And Conlan will fit just fine with his family: “We are a family of monsters and he’s our child. People will always try to kill him and we will always protect him. He better get used to it.”
Finally, Atlanta would have to hold its own for the final battle: shapeshifters, necromancers, witches, mages, mercenaries, humans, volhvs and Druids, gods and monsters and Kate and her family will need to save the city. The last part of the book has everything and everyone that I was hoping for!
I look forward to reading Hugh's second book now. Bye Kate, Curran and Conlan! At least for now... (I will miss you 😢)...more
No matter how much I adore this series or how much I anticipated this book or how much I wanted to read about a re"Not coyote, @sshole. Red wolf."
No matter how much I adore this series or how much I anticipated this book or how much I wanted to read about a red wolf shifter, it took me a while to finish it. And that was because the beginning of the book is so slow. There are a lot of explanations about the shifters and the shifters’ towns and their behavior. Maybe a small prologue in the next books from now on would be better for the new fans. For me, some of the explanations especially about the shifters’ behavior were not really necessary.
So, during the first chapters, I missed the tension and the humor some of the previous favorite novels have.
Moreover I definitely disliked Jaycee, the leopard shifter and I was not really warm to Dimitri, the red wolf shifter. We have met them both briefly in the “White Tiger” where Jaycee wanted someone she could not have (Kendrick) and she was a completely bitch towards his future mate and Dimitri obviously wanted Jaycee hopelessly.
Things will be smooth-running really quickly in this story with Jaycee forgetting about Kendrick, becoming a close friend of his mate and thinking of the mate-claim by Dimitri.
From Chapter Six onwards, the real adventure begins. And I loved it!
Dimitri and Jaycee will need to go to New Orleans and investigate a group of shifters that behave strangely. There, they will meet -Ben again (who desperately needs his book and his HEA), -the group of shifters that believe in goddess but they do not exactly behave accordingly -their mysterious leader and bear shifter, Brice -the remarkable sentient lonely HOUSE with the strong personality that we met in “Wild Things”.
Thus slowly but surely, I was lost once more in the incredible world of powerful shifters who were forced to wear collars in order to be controlled by the clueless humans. I was lost in the magical world of arrogant Fae who like to treat Shifters like animals. I met again old characters (Tiger, Zander and Dylan) and I was introduced to new ones (Lady Aisling, Angus and Casey).
And I started believing in the Happily Ever After of the lonesome and scarred Dimitri and the difficult-to-trust-and-to-show-love Jaycee.
Dimitri only looked at her. He didn’t reach for her, only watched, his gaze intent on her. “What?” Jaycee asked irritably when he didn’t move. Why didn’t he grab her, try to kiss her as he had at the club last night-anything? “I was thinking how beautiful you look in the sunshine,” Dimitri said. No stammering, no pause while he struggled over a word. “Don’t,” Jaycee said quickly. Dimitri frowned. “Don’t w-what?” “Melt my heart.” Slowly Dimitri reached out and placed his hand between her breasts. “So you do have a h-heart in there?”
It is a great Friends-To-Lovers story. The ending was more than satisfying.
“We knew,” Dimitri said, kissing her hair. “We just took our time admitting it. At least, you did. I always said you were the one for me.” ...more

It is time for Zane and Janie to meet and fulfill their destiny. They have been meeting in the dream world for almost 20 years since they were children. They have always known that they belong together. But Zane has had his secret. Janie did not exactly know what kind of species Zane is. Only that he is part vampire.
It is time for peace between species. The war between the vast majority of the Realm (vampires, shifters and witches) and the bad boys of the Realm (Kurjans and demons) has reached a critical point.
Janie has had visions of the peace talks to end the war and she knows that she has to be there.
Kalin, her old childhood friend and the current leader of the Kurjans will be there. “Janet. It’s good to see you again.” “You too”
Zane, her old childhood friend and the current top soldier of the enemy will be there. “Hi, Janie Belle”
And Janie freezes into her place, shocked and without being able to talk. Enemy.
So, all the players will take their position at the final game of the series.
There are so many things that are happening in this book that whatever I say it will be a spoiler.
Let’s just say that the book is full of: - Adventure and epic battles between species. Peace will not be reached easily. -Love, sex and mating vampire style. -Funny family moments. I was laughing out loud constantly when the Kayrs family meets the Kyllwood family. And until the dust settles. -Mysteries about the damn virus that keeps coming and going like a nightmare. -Sacrifices from persons you never expect to sacrifice themselves. -An excellent brilliant orchestrated final solution for the war and for the virus. -Babies, marriages and a happily ever after.
What I missed from this book were the humans. It seems that the world is falling apart and the humans are not there. This fact isn't even on their radar.
Overall, it is an excellent book. Exactly what I was looking for and maybe more. My favorite from the series!
Lastly, we definitely need books about the new generation because according to the Epilogue: “They’re gonna change the world”...more
