Nope. I remember loving book 2 (which I read out of order), but a few discs into this audiobook I could no longer put up with the ridiculous romance: Nope. Despite the many awards and recommendations from my friends, this book is just not for me.
I think my main problem is that while I can see it's well written, I don't care at all about the plot, so I never want to keep reading it....more
I love reading books about astronauts, but Wolfe's style really wore on me after a while. I found the first 1/4 of the book, about the astronauts as test pilots, interesting. Reading about the astronauts training for the mercury project was really tedious, as it was for the astronauts themselves, since they weren't intended to do any piloting. Perhaps if I'd skipped past this section instead of getting mired down, I would have finished the book. However, I decided I'd had enough of the writing style (it's pretty over the top, on purpose)....more

Both Holmes and Watson are black women, and Watson's point of view as a black woman who often feels eyes on her is powerful.
Ultimately, the storyline didn't keep me interested, but I loved the set up....more
