We learned so much about Bosch and his mother and the real killer. The killer was not who you think it is. Absolutely a fantastic read (and nothing like the TV show)...more
I’ve been re- reading the Harry Bosch Universe in order and came across one I had never read before. This is Mickey Haller’s fifth stand alone novel. I’ve been re- reading the Harry Bosch Universe in order and came across one I had never read before. This is Mickey Haller’s fifth stand alone novel. The first half a little slow for my liking but once we got past that point, it was really hard to put down. For once, Mickey has a truly innocent client, but the road to “Not Guilty” is a bit convoluted and slow moving, hence the 4 stars. But I love rooting for Mickey and his team and hope to see more of these characters in the future....more
This is the 4th in the Michael “Mickey” Haller series. I love this series, maybe not as much as the Harry Bosch series, but it’s not too far behind. TThis is the 4th in the Michael “Mickey” Haller series. I love this series, maybe not as much as the Harry Bosch series, but it’s not too far behind. The novel is set in 2011, at the height of the mortgage loan crisis, so foreclosures are foremost in the plot. Mickey’s client starts out as a foreclosure client but she quickly turns into a murder suspect. Mickey pulls out a very vigorous defense. Cameos by Harry and Maddie and a reference to Du-Par’s pancakes make it very enjoyable. The best part, though is the way Connelly hides clues in plain sight. He totally got me at the end (and I loved it!) Fantastic read!...more

I loved it that Mickey and Harry sort-of shared top dog, although it was really more from Mickey's viewpoint than Harry's. I liked the interaction between the brothers and Maggie...an awkward triangle if ever there was one. I seriously doubt that's the direction Connelly is going, but it was fun to read about Mickey's petty jealousy in that regard...really makes him more human and less "sleazy." The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars (because seriously, Connelly is a masterful writer!) is the ending. It wasn't quite as satisfying as I would have wanted it to be. Although Harry driving off into the sunset chasing a lead is always how I picture him. I will be moving on the next novel The Fifth Witness pretty soon....more
