What I enjoyed: * That Garrett's wife was a great person that he took years mourning * Ali's friends (and most of the town) had her back * The dog, Gene, was adorable
What could have been better: * Everything happened very fast * Once they got together, it seemed like it solved all of Ali's PTSD issues * They had unprotected sex (view spoiler)[ and it led to a pregnancy - these people have known each other like a month (hide spoiler)]...more

What I enjoyed: * Ariel/Melody was a great character who finally got to live in the real world and have time to discover herself (and fall in love) * Eric and the band were great. He had a few issues of his own to deal with but other than reacting stupidly to the truth was the perfect hero * A little twist from the movie (view spoiler)[ Ariel's dad is the bad guy, wanting her to continue the singing career after promising her time off. What I enjoyed: * The friends to lovers romance taking its time * Libby was an interesting character and I think she'd be fun to hang out with now that she's left the hermit shell * Killian can be a total a$$, but he can also be very sweet with Libby
What could have been better: * I would have liked more interaction with the band, especially for Killian. We really don't know much about the bandmates as people. * They were both a bit too self sacrificing and almost lost their relationship because of it...more

In fact the first part of this book is going back to events that happened previously and telling their side of it.
And since I don't "know" who Ben is, I don't know why he is fascinating to Lizzy - other than being a gorgeous rock star. In fact I think if Lizzie hadn't been Anne's sister, they would have slept together the first time they met and that would have been that. But since she was "off-limits" the whole texting friendship began and it seemed to be a first for Ben.
Also I'm not fond of the whole hiding the relationship, I can give Lizzy a bit of a pass since she is 21, but Ben is much older and it is his friendship (and band relationship) with Mal at risk. Much better to just be upfront then to sneak around and then be found out.
I did really enjoy all the glimpses of the other couples throughout - in fact that was my favorite parts. And meeting and liking Vaughan (who was barely in this book) means I'll check out his story....more

Jimmy was a total f*ckup in the first book. He was living the rockstar lifestyle - drugs, booze and women and taking it all too far. He finally got cleaned up and needed a sobriety buddy which is where Lena comes in as she's the first one who lasts longer than a week or so.
Lena is getting over her own heartbreak and is kind of aimless, so this job works well for her. They become snarky friends as they are always together and she helps him through his childhood issues. Jimmy can still be an ass, but he is learning....more

He is a bit immature, but he does grow in this story as he is dealing with (view spoiler)[ his mother's terminal illness (hide spoiler)]. I like that he always seems ready to help others as well.
I'm glad to see Anne being able to stand up to him when needed. I also love that the band is so close. I'm looking forward to the next one....more

Ev was kind of all over the place. First she is super hungover and surprised to be married, then she is Daddy's little girl, then she is defiant, then she is a doormat, then she seems to find herself but gives up too easily, then she is heartbroken and finally she seems ready to stand on her own two feet. But she is only 21 so she does have a lot of growing up to do.
David seems so sweet and romantic (and easily hurt) but he has a temper and a lot of pride and was keeping secrets for no good reason.
I really loved Mal in this book. He was great to Ev and pushed David to do the right thing. He seemed pretty down to earth and as normal as a rock star can be to me.
