Back in January, I started reading this series with fairly low expectations. Then, the first two books of the series ("Cinder" and "Scarlet") completely blew me away. I was so in awe with everything about the series! A few months later, I read the third book in the series ("Cress") and I enjoyed it a lot but not as much as its predecessors. But, surely, the grand finale of the series would be awesome, right? Well, yes and no, unfortunately. [SPOILERS BELOW]
This book does do a lot of things well, including realistic character personalities and world-building. But, for me, the book was too long and too slow. It could have easily been at least 100 pages shorter without taking away from the good aspects of the book. Its length makes it drag in some parts and it seems like the book is just going on and on for no reason. Another negative aspect of the story is that nearly everyone is in a relationship by the end of the book. I would have preferred to see more independence in the characters.
Overall, the final installment in the Lunar Chronicles series is good as a book in general, but not good enough to be the closer in a series.
I don't know why I waited so long to pick up this book, considering I've been following the author on Tumblr for at least 5 months. WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD
I really enjoyed the characters, except for Tori, whom could be annoying at times. Tori also had a tendency to be really overdramatic.
The plot was interesting, although it was a little hard to believe that the school's entire staff could be repeatedly stumped by a group of teenagers.
The conclusion of "Solitaire" had its good moments (the confrontation in Mr Kent's classroom) but also had some cheesy moments (basically everything with Michael in the last couple chapters).
All in all, I really enjoyed this book, but it got somewhat repetitive towards the end.

It took me a while to get into this book, but around the halfway point, I was sucked in for good. I wasn't expecting very much from Heir of Fire, but I was completely blown away. The ending made me scream and I can't wait to read the next book in this awesome series.

I figured it was just a typical YA fantasy book and I wouldn't enjoy it much.
Thank goodness I decided to read the summary because that pulled me in and made me pick up "Magonia".
This book is a great YA fantasy, among my favorites in the genre. If I had to compare it, I'd say it's Daughter of Smoke and Bone meets The Silence of Six meets The Fault In Our Stars [credit to my friend for part of that].
If you've been hearing about this book and aren't sure whether you should read it or not, I definitely recommend it because I think it has something for everyone. Plus the main character is really sassy which makes it way better.
