Did I have high hopes for this? No. Did I expect it to be less boring than the 4th Twisted book? I mean, hopefully so. Did it deliver? Not at all.

I know that Ana Huang is writing the same type of man in every book and that’s fine but at this point they all sound the same and don’t have a personality. I also like some plot with my romances but that is just a personal preference. I liked the first and second twisted book because there was a little more going on than just the romance but King of Wrath was practically just romance and it was just very very boring because we all knew what would happen and it happened exactly as predicted. I just didn’t care.

But I still liked it a lot! Don’t get me wrong, I like all of Olivia Hayle’s books but I was a huge fan of the first two books in the series and in comparison this couple just fell a bit flat for me. But I would still recommend the whole series wholeheartedly honestly.
This book follows Harper and Nate. While Nate was in love with Harper since he first laid eyes on her she just came out of a pretty bad relationship and has to find out what she wants to do with her life, now that she’s not getting married to one of Nate’s best friends. Therefore she made a list of things she wants to do before she turns 30, as one does and Nate decides to help her complete the list.
On the page “One Wrong Move” did a lot of things I usually love in romance books: roommates, working on a list, when she finally finds someone who treats her right, friends to lovers, it’s set in London…
But somehow I just wasn’t feeling the romance. This was marketed as friends to lovers but I didn’t really saw them as friends because at first they barely knew each other and later on they were obviously into each other so not a lot of friendly feelings their either. It just wasn’t what I was expecting from a friends to lovers romance but in the bigger picture that’s just a small thing that occured to me. I can’t really pinpoint why the romance wasn’t working that well for me, it just didn’t. It’s not that I didn’t like Nate and Harper as individual characters, I just wasn’t feeling their chemistry? Something in the writing was apparently lacking in that regard for me.
But what I really loved about this book was the setting. I also liked New York in the two previous books in the series but exploring England and London especially with Harper and Nate was so much fun. I just always love reading about London, it’s such a nice setting.
And what I also loved was seeing the previous couples again at the end of the book. They weren’t playing a huge part in this story but it was nice to see them again, I mean that’s why I love romance series and I just found it pretty satisfying to see where the previous main characters are at.
In conclusion: not my favorite book by the author but it did get my out of an impending reading slump because so far there wasn’t an Olivia Hayle book I didn’t like and binge read and this one was no exception.
