What if the same number of queries could cost significantly less to run? As analytics scaled at Zepto, 16K+ virtual datasets in Apache Superset were repeatedly executing complex SQL transformations across dashboards and charts, increasing warehouse compute costs. To solve this, our engineering team built Dataset Materialisation within Apache Superset, enabling heavy SQL queries to be precomputed and reused, with on-demand refreshes , refreshes at stale and concurrency-safe execution. All without changing existing dashboards, analyst workflows, or query volume. Infact Warehouse costs fell 30–35% overall. Runtime dropped by up to 60% on average, and 90–95% on our highest-frequency dashboards. We just wrapped up Builder Series 06, and this time we went deep into Dev Agents how we’re building autonomous agents at Zepto to take on more of the development lifecycle end to end. A lot got built, shipped and celebrated at our latest Tech & Product Townhall. 💜 A big spotlight was on our Zepto ACES-winning teams - Project Matching & Ranking - Ads, which rebuilt Search Ads into a smarter intelligence layer across matching, relevance and personalisation, and Project Club, our premium loyalty experience built to delight and retain some of Zepto’s most engaged customers. We also caught up on what’s been happening across Zepto Tech - from open-sourcing Scherry and deep-diving into our in-house Search Platform at Builder Series, to new tech blogs, new teammates, milestones and standout contributions across Engineering, Product, Data Science and Analytics.
