PATTERN IN ENGLISH CROCHET TERMS

Note about tension: sometimes post stitches pull your work in and can affect your tension/gauge.
To test your tension, the first 3 rounds should measure approx. 5” across. If you don’t get this
measurement then please change your hook size.

Foundation: Make a 5ch foundation ch and join into a ring with a ss

Round 1: 3ch (counts as 1tr), 15tr into ring, join to 3rd st of original 3ch with a ss. (16 sts)

Round 2: 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in st at base of ch, *1tr in and 1fpdtr around the next st, 2tr in
next st; repeat from * to last st, 1tr in and 1fpdtr around the last st, join to 3rd st of original 3ch with
a ss. (32 sts)

Round 3: 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in st at base of ch, *1ch, miss 1 st, 2tr in next st, 1fpdtr around
next st, 2tr in next st; repeat from * to end of round finishing the last repeat after the fpdtr, join to
3rd st of original 3ch with a ss. (8 1ch-sps with 5sts inbetween them)

Round 4: 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in st at base of ch, *1ch, miss 1 st, 1tr in 1ch-sp, 1ch, miss 1 st,
2tr in next st, 1fpdtr around next st, 2tr in next st; repeat from * to end of round finishing the last
repeat after the fpdtr, join to 3rd st of original 3ch with a ss. (16 1ch-sps)

Round 5: 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in st at base of ch, *(1ch, miss 1 st, 1tr in 1ch-sp) twice, 1ch, miss
1 st, 2tr in next st, 1fpdtr around next st, 2tr in next st; repeat from * to end of round finishing the
last repeat after the fpdtr, join to 3rd st of original 3ch with a ss. (24 1ch-sps)

Round 6: 3ch (counts as 1tr), 1tr in st at base of ch, *1ch, miss 1 st, 1dtr in 1ch-sp, 1ch, miss 1 st,
(1ttr, 2ch, 1ttr, 1ch) in next 1ch-sp, miss 1 st, 1dtr in next 1ch-sp, 1ch, miss 1 st, 2tr in next st,
1fpdtr around next st, 2tr in next st, (1ch, miss 1 st, 1tr in 1ch-sp) 3 times, 1ch, miss 1 st, 2tr in
next st, 1fpdtr around next st, 2tr in next st; repeat from * to end of round finishing the last repeat
after the fpdtr, join to 3rd st of original 3ch with a ss.
(32 1ch-sps and 4 2ch-sps)

Round 7: 4ch (counts as 1tr, 1ch), *(miss 1 st, 1tr in 1ch-sp, 1ch) twice, miss 1 st, (1dtr, 2ch, 1dtr,
1ch) in next 2ch-sp, miss 1 st, (1tr in next 1ch-sp, 1ch, miss 1 st) twice, 1tr in next st, 1fpdtr around
next st, 1tr in next st, (1ch, miss 1 st, 1tr in 1ch-sp) 4 times, 1ch, miss 1 st, 1tr in next st, 1fpdtr
around next st, 1tr in next st, 1ch; repeat from * to end of round finishing the last repeat after the
fpdtr, join to 3rd st of original 3ch with a ss.

Round 8: 3ch (counts as 1tr), work the sts in this round as follows:
1fpdtr around each fpdtr from last round
1tr in each tr, dtr and 1ch-sp from previous round
(1tr, 1dtr, 2ch, 1dtr, 1tr) in each 2ch-sp in the corners,
Finish by joining to 3rd st of original 3ch with a ss.

Round 9: 3ch (counts as 1tr), work the sts in this round as follows:
1tr in each st along each side and (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) in each 2ch-sp in the corners,
Finish by joining to 3rd st of original 3ch with a ss.

Break yarn and fasten off.


You should have 35tr along each side and a 2ch-sp at each corner.
