- CRAFTING: -
To take advantage of the recently implemented
Crafting System, the first thing you should do is
find a Recombiner, a hi-tech device capable of
molding any material into the items you want.
Think of it as an extremely advanced 3D printer!
Recombiners come in two categories. The
most common type looks like this:
As you can see, it has three slots to store
the reagents/materials you’ll be using for
crafting your items, but we’ll talk about those
later.
The second kind is much more rare,
but can be carried around as if it
was a toolbox. Once “used” from your
inventory, it will assemble
automatically from the ground, and ready itself
for use.
Once the recombiner is ready you can do one of
 the following actions:
 • ꙮ “Use” it again to reset the three slot (or
disassemble so you can carry it with you
again, if it’s a portable one)
 • Use your Survival Kit’s pincers from
weapon slot 0 to dismantle it and scrap
some materials from it. This can be useful in
case you already have another recombiner
or are leaving the current map.
 • Drop materials on to it to fill the three slots.
This will be covered in more detail in the next
   section.
PREPARATIONS:
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
First of all, select your PDA to browse through
your materials and reagents: default keybind is
“L” but you can change that in your options.
After the PDA is opened and ready, you can:
   • ꙮ Press the “reload” button to change
page, so it will show more categories of
     crafting materials.
   • ꙮ Press the “fire” button, to drop the
     currently selected item
   • ꙮ Press the “alternate fire” button, to
     select another reagent from the
     current page
   • ꙮ Press the “weapon special/dual wield”
button when you’re ready to use an energy
cell to start the crafting process once all
     required materials are placed.
So first things first, you need the materials to
craft items with: Most of them can be found
randomly around the maps, or where you most
expect them. For example, metal scraps and
electronic parts can be scavenged from the
corpses of armored and/or partially robotic
enemies. Cloth can be scrapped from former
humans and dead marines’ uniforms and so on.
An exception is represented by chemical
solutions and Unknown substances:
these substances can be harvested from the
mutated blood of some kind of monsters. When
you kill one of them, depending on their species,
you may notice some blood clots that stand
out from the
rest, slightly differently colored. Those blood clots are
probably a source of the chemical solutions you’re
looking for. To harvest these substances, select your
crafting PDA and drop an empty vial on the clots.
                                 are mainly
        harvested from cacodemon’s blue blood.
        This substance is usually associated
        with healing properties.
                                       are
        extracted from mummies and
        revenants’bone marrow. They’re often
used in battle stimpacks that heighten
        the user’s senses and physical
        capabilities.
                                 Usually found in
green- blooded monsters’ bodies. Have a
        various number of different applications,
        from drugs to electrical components.
These substance are already present in the
UAC archives, but not yet identified. To find
them, you must keep an eye out for them and
use your intuition to understand where are
the most likely places you could find them.
These substance could probably be very, VERY
 powerful, if used wisely.
 RECIPES:
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Right, you finally found some materials. Now
what? To start the recombining process, you
first need to place these materials in the three
slots of the Recombiner. To do so, select your
PDA once again, and browse to the reagent you
want to add, then press the “fire” button. I you
have some with you, you’ll drop one unit of
 that reagent.
Now, if the reagent you dropped can be used in
the first slot of a recipe, the recombiner will
“catch” it in its first slot, waiting for the other
 slots to be filled.
In fact, you need to place your reagents in a
precise order and fixed quantities in order to
complete a recipe. Below, you can find a
complete list of the currently implemented
recipes in the game, showing both the placing
order and the quantities of the items that need
to be dropped in the crafting station:
For our example, let’s try to craft an infrared visor:
As you can see, the requirements for slot 1 are two
empty vials, to get glass for the visor’s lenses.
So select your PDA, browse to your
CHEMICALS page, then select the empty vials.
Press “fire” two times to drop 2 empty vials.
You’ll also notice the slot won’t fill until both vials
are dropped.
Once one or more slots are filled,
you CANNOT retrieve those reagents back.
“Using” the recombiner will result in deleting the
currently placed materials so you can start
over, but everything you placed prior to that
point will be lost.
Now for the second slot: 3 electronic parts. You
should already be able of switching pages now,
so select the right component to drop and
press the fire button 3 times until the second
slot is also filled.
For the last slot, you need a battery, which is not
a “standard” crafting ingredient. This means you’ll
have to select a battery from your inventory and
drop it on the recombiner. If you don’t have any,
you can also craft them by using acidic solutions.
Kill a Hell Knight, harvest some by dropping an
empty vial on his blood, then follow the recipe
for the battery to get the necessary components,
then drop the crafted battery in the last slot. Once all
the three slots are filled, we’re already to craft!
PROCESSING:
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Everything’s ready, yes, but the recombiner
doesn’t run on solar energy. To “do its thing” it
needs expensive plasma energy cells. 10 of them
to be precise.
So while holding your PDA, press the “weapon
special action” button to power it up using 10
 energy cells from your reserve.
         The “Scientist” class is knowledgeable
enough to optimize the resource requirements of
the Recombiner. He just needs 5 ENERGY CELLS
 for each crafting process.
That’s it! After a brief waiting time, your infrared
visor will be ready for use.
From this time on, you can experiment by
yourself to find more recipes, or you can just
use the that was linked in the
 “Preparations” section.
 Good crafting!
ꙮ Both kinds of recombiners can be destroyed
once assembled. If that happens, you can
try scrapping some metal using your
pincers, but generally, it’s better to avoid
  this occurrence!
ꙮ Some recipes require items that are not in
the crafting PDA. In these cases, browse
your inventory bar until you find the item
you need, then press the “Drop item” button
(you can customize this keybind from the
  “inventory” section)
ꙮ The Scientist Class not only spends less
energy cells for each crafting process, but
starts with a portable recombiner from the
start, as well as with a good selection of
  crafting materials.
  Perfect to test this manual!
ꙮ Play smart: if you got 3 batteries and have
no need for them, you could use them to
craft a cellpack at the cost of 10 energy
cells, obtaining 50 of them in return! This
way, you will have more energy to spare
  for your future crafting.
Don’t forget to dismantle any recombiner
you don’t need, and to bring your portable
one with you before leaving the map!
