Background
Around the world many people are perishing due to the high spread of Covid-19
disease. It is of the paramount importance that people are well equipped on the
prevention and control of the deadly pandemic.
Introduction
There was an outbreak of Covid-19 in China in December 2019. The disease has
spread to other countries at the fastest rate. In Zimbabwe the first case was detected
in March 2020. The Ministry of Health and Child Care and various health
organization provided information on preventing the disease.
The CALA has two parts
Part A
   a) Definition
      Covid-19, previously called coronavirus is a disease caused by a new strain
      that has not been previously identified in humans. Coronaviruses are
      transmitted between animals and humans or humans to humans.
   b) i. Signs and symptoms of Covid-19
      - chest pain, chills,
      - difficulty in breathing,
      - headache,
      - sore throat,
      - cough,
      - pneumonia and kidney failure,
      - muscle pain,
     - new loss of taste or smell
     ii. Effect of Covid-19
     - difficulty in breathing, leading to death
     - education calendar was interrupted for, three years now
     - the Government introduced lockdowns that strained adults, individuals,
         small scale business
     - domestic dispute cases increased due to food shortages in homes
     - people movements were prohibited and transport sector was hard hit
     - hospitality industry closed
     - healthy staff were over worked
     iii. Ways of preventing the spread of Covid-19
     - avoid close contact with anyone with a cold or flu-like symptoms
     - prevent unprotected contact with farm or wild animals
     - when coughing and sneezing, cover the nose and mouth with tissue or
          flexed elbow
     - wash hands with soap and water or alcohol based hand rub after sneezing
          or coughing, when caring for the sick, before eating food
     - discouraging the public from circulating false messages on social media
          that cause unnecessary panic on communities
     - seeking correct information about the disease from a nearest healthy
          centre
     - reporting suspected cases to a local healthy facility
     - use of face mask all the time when in closed places
     - practicing social distance
     - isolation of suspected Covid-19 cases
     - get vaccinated
Part B
  a) Write Up
     The coronavirus spreads mainly from person to person. A person infected
     with coronavirus , even one with no symptoms , may emit virus when they
      talk or breathe that can float or drift around in the air for up to three hours.
      Another person can breathe in this virus and become infected with the
      coronavirus.
      Masks reduce the amount of virus we breathe in and breathe out. Combined
      with the vaccines and boosters, masks reduce the risk of spread.
      Maintaining social distance between yourself and another person to avoid
      getting infected or infecting someone else. Directives to work from home,
      and canceling in-person meetings or classrooms and larger events help
      enforce physical distancing at a community level.
      Seeking accurate information about Covid-19 from health facility and
      reporting suspected cases ensure a community without Covid-19.

Background
Although agriculture has been introduced in schools, our learners however lack
knowledge of soil types and their properties.
Introduction
The main soil components are 45% inorganic matter, 5% organic matter 25% water
and 25% air. Soil is formed by weathering. Soil needs to be conserved against
pollution and erosion.
Definition
Soil is the loose surface that covers the land, it consist of inorganic materials and
organic matter.
Part A
   a) Types of soil and their properties
      The three major types of Soil are clay, loam and sand soils.
      i)    Clay soil – is made up of extremely small and tightly packed particles.
            has tiny air spaces.
             has high holding capacity, has sufficient nutrients for plant growth
            and is easy to work on
      ii)   Loam soil – it is a mixture of sand and clay, is ideal for plant growth,
            allows good movement of air and water, has high water holding
            capacity and has sufficient nutrients for plant growth
      iii) Sand soil – is a type of soil with large particle size , allows water and
            air to move freely, has low water holding capacity,lacks nutrients for
            plant growth. It is easy to work on

   2. Sungura – it is a genre that is believed to have originated in the Kanindo
      style. The Kanindo style was borrowed in Kenya and gave birth to a new
      style called Sungura
   3. An artist in the sungura music is Alick Macheso
4. The five songs by Alick Macheso are:
   - Shedia
   - Sarah
   - Baba naMai
   - Vakiridzo
   - 1940
   a) Mbira – This is a Zimbabwean music style which started among the
      Shona people, it consist of a basic pattern which includes many weaved
      melodies that are repeated in cyclic form
b) Jiti – is a style of a popular Zimbabwean dance music, it has got a fast
   beat and rhythms played on drums accompanied by a guitar
c) Kanindo – is a music genre originated in Kenya which is responsible for
   the birth of sungura.
d) Jazz – is a music genre which originated in America in New Orleans,
   USA in the late 19th or early 20th century and is characterized by swing
   and blue notes, call and response vocals, poly rhythms and improvision.
