Rationale:
Technology has been revolutionized throughout the years as the world has gone through
its changes, and such innovations are made to make one's life easier and more convenient. The
Internet has been around for more than a decade and is proven to be essential for growing our
digital economy, strengthening communities and social ties, and helping people organize,
collaborate, and share information with larger numbers of people. Accessing the internet is not
only helpful for students and adults to search for answers and do their research, but it can also
change the way they live. The Internet has greatly influenced everyone, and without it,
communication will be distant and challenging. With this given information, the proponents
propose to create free public WiFi stations, as they believe that it will greatly help students,
telecommuters, barangay employees, and even other citizens who wish to communicate with
their acquaintances and friends and to access different online information such as news, blogs,
videos, musics, etc.
Background:
Needless to say, the many benefits of the Internet can only be enjoyed by those who have
sufficient access to it. It has been noted that not all households in Barangay Bulaklakan have a
connection to the Internet or can afford to have one. The medium has served as a source of
information, a form of communication, and a crucial contributor to society’s continual
development since it surfaced. Hence, inadequate access to it is a matter that should be properly
addressed. In educational and work settings, having access to the Internet that increases the
availability of various data and information may be significantly associated with academic and
work performances. The proposed project of implementation of free public WiFi stations in the
Barangay may assist and contribute to improving them, especially for those who have a hard
time acquiring an internet connection.
Objectives:
1. To offer convenience to the people of the community
2. To adapt to the continuous technological advancements
3. To help underprivileged citizens to have access to important information online
4. To create a more progressive and connected community
5. To assist the community's growing digital economy
