The document is a detailed lesson plan about plant propagation methods. It contains objectives, subject matter, procedures, and evaluation. The procedures section outlines teacher and student activities, including a review, motivation activity, presentation on plant propagation methods, discussion of sexual and asexual propagation, and generalization. Sexual propagation uses seeds while asexual propagation does not use sex organs. Asexual methods include runners, rhizomes, bulbs, tubers, root stocks, and leaves. Artificial asexual methods are cutting, layering, marcotting, grafting, inarching, and budding. Students participate in defining terms and identifying pictures of propagation methods.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PLANT PROPAGATION

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

1. Name the different methods of plant propagation

2. Define the different methods of plant propagation with a sense of self
confidence.
3. Discuss the sexual and asexual plant propagation with their classmates

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Plant Propagation

References: Book of Home Technology and Livelihood Education by,

Salvador D. Dagoon, Haidee B. Laṅada, and Jesse D. Dagoon

Materials: Laptop, PowerPoint presentation, cut out pictures

III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. Routine Activities
Before we start, let us pray first.
(The selected student will pray)
Good morning class.
Good morning sir

Do we have absentee today? (Students answer may vary)

Very good!

B. Review
Before we start, can you still remember (student’s answer may vary)
the discussion last meeting?

What is it all about?

Very good!

C. Motivation

Okay before we start our discussion for

tonight let’s have a charades activity first, that
called “AKSYON MO AT HUHULAAN
KO”

 WATERING/NAGDIDILIG
 CULTIVATION/
NAGBUBUNGKAL
 CUTTING/PAGPUPUTOL
 PLANTING/PAGTATANIM

D. Presentation
Before we start, do you have any idea of
what are we going to discuss tonight?

We are going to discuss about different

methods of plant propagation.

E. Discussion
Do you know what is plant propagation?

Plant propagation is the process of creating

new plant.

There are two methods in plant propagation,

sexual and asexual.

1. Sexual plant propagation

Sexual propagation uses seeds to produce new
plants. It is relatively easy and often requires
no special equipment.
The seed is formed when the female and male
germ cells unite after pollination. The female
reproductive organ is called the pistil and the
male reproductive organ is called the stamen.
Characteristics of sexual plant propagation
- very common method of propagating
economic plants.

- The use of seeds is not usually good for fruit

trees because of the variability of seedling
plants.

- Many of them do not have the same

characteristics as their parents.

2. Asexual plant propagation

Is affected without the aid of the sex organs
of the plant.
Asexual plants multiply naturally in different
ways;
By runners
A runner is the stem portion of the plant that
tends to grow horizontally as opposed to
upright like the main stem.
Examples; sugar cane, pineapple, banana,
gabi.

Rhizomes
These produce roots along their surface and
develop new plant from buds on the upper
side.
Example; ginger

Bulbs
These are composed of modifies leaves folded
around each other.
Examples; onion, garlic

Tubers
A tuber is a thickened rhizomes or stem,
bearing buds or node-like scares.
Examples; yam, sweet potato

Root stocks
Plant produced by division, which consists in
separating it with some of the roots
Examples; orchids, and other herbaceous
plants.

Germinating tissues/ leaves

When the leaves come with the damp surface
of the soil, they soon multiply
Example: begonia

There are also other methods of artificial

plant propagation.

Artificial asexual propagation

This is asexual propagation of plants with
man’s intervention.

There are six methods of artificial asexual

propagation:

1. Cutting
Propagating plants from several parts of
plants.

2. Layering
A layer is a branch or shoot, part of which is
introduced into the soil, and strikes root,
while fed by the parent, with which its
communication is generally partially
interrupted by a cut, slit or ligature.

3. Marcoting
An ancient method of propagating plants. It
differs from other methods because the stem
is induced to root while still attached to the
mother plant.

4. Grafting
A method of plant propagation in which the
desirable scion (top portion) is joined with or
inserted into the root-stock in order for them
to unite and grow as one plant
5. Inarching
A method of propagating plants in which the
scion is made to unite with the root-stock
while they are growing independently on their
own root systems.

6. Budding
A form of grafting that makes use of a single
bud as the scion instead of a section of the
stem bearing several buds.

Those are the different methods of plant

propagation, including the 6 artificial plant
propagation. These are the methods that we
can use to make and produce new plants,
vegetables, fruits, etc.

F. Generalization
Have you learned something from today’s
lesson class?

If you did, what is plant propagation? And

what are the two methods of plant
propagation?

Very good!

How about the six (6) methods of artificial

asexual plant propagation?

Very good class!

G. Application

Let’s have an activity that called “define me

and identify me”. I have here a different
pictures of different types of asexual plants
propagation chose one and then identify what
it is and give its meaning.

IV. Evaluation
Let’s have a short quiz.
Direction: choose the best answer and
encircle the correct letter. Write it down in a
1/4 sheet of paper
1. A propagation uses seeds to produce new
plants. It is relatively easy and often requires
no special equipment.
a. Asexual plant propagation b. sexual plant
propagation

2. Is affected without the aid of the sex organs

of the plant.
a. Asexual plant propagation b. sexual plant
propagation.

3. Is a branch or shoot, part of which is

introduced into the soil,

single bud as the scion instead of a section of
the stem bearing several buds.

9-10. Give the two methods of plant

propagation.
Is everything clear now?

Is there any question, clarifications, or violent

reaction?

V. Assignments

For your assignment that to be pass on next

meeting. In your own words define what is
sexual plant propagation and asexual plant
propagation.
Note. do not copy on the internet.

before we end our class, let us all stand for

the closing prayer.

Thank you for your cooperation class,

goodbye and God bless.
