Any brand and/or style of yarn can be used for this pattern. The thicker and heavier your yarn, the stiffer/sturdier your project
will be.
Any color can be used for the background or straps of this tote bag, but we recommend a purple color scheme.
The tote bag straps' length can be adjusted based on personal preference. Add more rows to make the straps longer or fewer
rows for a shorter length.

Sunburst Granny Squares
Using a 2.75mm hook and alternating colors as desired:
Row 1: Using first color and a magic circle, ch 3 (counts as first dc), make 15 dc into the loop. Join to top of 1st stitch in the row.
Fasten off first color.
Row 2: This row is made with puff stitches. First, attach the second color and chain 2. Make puff stitches in all of the stitches of the
previous row, chaining 1 between each puff stitch to lock the stitch in. At the end of the row, there will be 16 puff stitches. Join to
the top of the first stitch. Fasten off the second color.
Row 3: This row is worked with bobble stitches. First, attach the third color between two of the puff stitches in the previous row and
chain 3. Make bobble stitches in all of the stitches of the previous row, chaining 2 between each bobble stitch to lock the stitch in. At
the end of the row, there will be 16 bobble stitches. Join to the top of the first stitch. Fasten off the third color.
Row 4: Join the fourth color in any space in previous round. Chain 3 (counts as 1st dc). 2 dc in same space. *In next space, work all
of the following: (3 tc, ch 2, 3 tc). Corner made. 3dc in next space, 3 hdc in next space, 3 dc in next space*. Repeat from * to * .
Repeat from * 3 more times. Then work 3 dc in next space, 3 hdc in last space and join to 1st dc in row. Fasten off and weave in
ends.
Make 6 granny squares.
Join all granny squares in a single row using a flat slip stitch join, as seen below and weave in ends.

Assembly
Main Body:
1. Attach the front panel to the row of granny squares using a flat slip stitch join as seen below.
*Note: We recommend using safety pins or stitch markers to join the panels together while you are working your join stitches.
2. Attach the back panel in the same manner with the good sides facing away from
one another. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
The top of the bag is made up of 5 rows of single crochet, and 4 chain three holes
for the straps.
3. Slip stitch on starting in the top left corner of the bag. Chain one, single crochet
into the same hole as join, and single crochet in every stitch all the way around the
top of the bag, crocheting three stitches into each corner. To finish the row, Join
with a slip stitch to the first single crochet, and chain one.
4. Single crochet around the entire top perimeter of the bag one more time,
finishing the row with a slip stitch to the first single crochet, and chain one.
5. Single crochet around the perimeter of the bag again. When you reach each
corner, ch3 and skip 3 stitches before continuing to single crochet around the bag
to create four chain 3 holes in each corner of the bag. Finishing the row with a slip
stitch to the first single crochet, and chain one.
6. Single crochet two more rows around the perimeter of the bag as in step 4. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Straps
Using yellow yarn, chain 200. Single crochet in the back
bumps all the way down the chain, cut yarn and pull through
to finish, and weave in ends. Repeat a second time for the
2nd strap.
*Note: If you would like longer or shorter straps, adjust the
number of chains accordingly.
Attach the purple yarn with a slip stitch on the 3rd single
crochet in. Chain 1, SC into the same stitch and then chain 1.
Skip 1 stitch, and SC into the next stitch. Continue all the way
around with a SC, Chain one skip one.When coming around
the other side, make sure your single crochet are going into
the exact same holes as the row before. Complete with a slip
stitch into the original SC, cut yarn and weave in ends.
Pull the straps through the chain 3 spaces in the corners of
the bags from the inside of the bag, and tie some cute bows.
