Techniques
If the Loop Stitch is one that you are not familiar with, there are many wonderful tutorials
on YouTube. Just type in “Crochet Loop Stitch” into YouTube’s search box and you will
find many helpful videos.

For the purposes of this project you’ll want to make your loop stitches at least 2.50 inches
long. (see photo on page 11) Once you’ve completed a body part, open your scissors and
insert the bottom blade through the middle of each loop. Pull up with the blade so that
the loop is taught and cut the loop in half to create two pieces of hair equaling 2.50
inches.

When attaching a finished body part, you’ll want to pull back any surrounding pieces of
hair so that they don’t get caught in your whip stitching. It is also good to do this so that
once your body part is attached the hair that you were holding back can now be smoothed
down over the seam. This makes it look as if your dog is completely seamless.

You may also want to trim some areas. The dog seen in the photos has had his beard,
mustache, foot and eye brow hair trimmed to make him look well groomed.
