The Consular Information Unit's
(CIU) Supervisory Assistant is
the primary individual
responsible for all aspects of
consular correspondence and
public information services
related to consular services at
the U.S. Consulate General
Hyderabad. As the LE
Supervisor, the incumbent
manages and rates a team of
two ( 2 ) CIU assistants who
coordinate appropriate and
timely responses to nearly
20,000 visa and ACS related
inquiries annually. They
coordinate consular outreach
efforts and messaging
throughout the Hyderabad
consular districts of Telangana,
Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
They direct responses to
Major Duties: correspondence involving
complex questions from
prospective visa applicant's,
American Citizens, travel
coordinators, attorneys,
congressional offices, and U S.
and Indian corporations. S/he
supervises the team's handling
of consular correspondence and
visa inquiry form the Global
Support Strategy (GSS) team
and audits a random sample of
public responses provided by
the Call Center. S/he manages
metrics development and reports
monthly and yearly statistics and
works with the CIU officer and
managers to align consular
outreach goals with those of the
post and the Mission. Incumbent
builds, motivates, and maintains
an effective and high-
performance CIU team.
Requirements: EXPERIENCE: NON-
SUPERVISORY: Minimum 4
years of experience in work
involving the application of
regulatory material and public
contact, customer service is
required. SUPERVISORY:
Minimum of 6 month of
experience managing small
teams, training new employees,
and distributing workload. JOB
KNOWLEDGE: A thorough
understanding of the general
principles of filing, office
procedures, and computer-
based data management is
required. Should have
knowledge of the host country,
immigration laws, socio-political
and cultural norms. Clear
understanding of Indian law,
practices and general
environment. Knowledge of visa
functions, applicable laws,
regulations and procedures for
NIV and familiarity with IV,ACS
and Fraud prevention
operations.
