DIB AL NADHA site and arranging necessary protections to all the associated
banking systems.
3. Responsibilities
a) Project Manager: Overall responsibility for ensuring the core cutting works are
conducted safely and efficiently.
b) Site Supervisor: Responsible for supervising the core cutting activities and
ensuring compliance with the method statement.
c) HSE officer :Ensure the whole process is as per safe system of work and HSE
plan.
Core cutting Team: Responsible for the actual core cutting work, including setup,
operation, and cleanup.
4. Equipment and Materials

Water source for cooling
ARKI GROUP DESIGN LLC
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Barrier tape and signage
First aid kit
5. Procedures
5.1 Pre-Work Preparation
Identifying the core cutting locations and mark them with the help of the
survey team.
Ensuring that the core drilling machine is in good working condition.
Selecting the appropriate core bit size for the job.
Checking that all safety equipment, such as PPE, is available and in good
condition.
Establishing a safe work zone around the core cutting area using barrier
tape and appropriate signage.
5.2 Safety Measures
All personnel involved in core cutting works must wear appropriate PPE,
including safety glasses, hearing protection, dust masks, gloves, and steel-
capped boots.
Ensuring that there is adequate ventilation in enclosed areas.
Operators of core drilling machines should be trained and competent in
their use.
Securing the core drilling machine to prevent movement during operation.
ARKI GROUP DESIGN LLC
Keeping the work area clean and free of tripping hazards.
Having a first aid kit on site in case of minor injuries.
a)Safety Precautions:
Ensuring all workers are wearing appropriate personal protective
equipment, such as safety glasses, helmets, gloves, and hearing protection.
Establishing a safe work zone and warn others in the area.
b)Drilling:
Positioning the core drill rig over the desired location.
Setting up water cooling or lubrication system to control dust and heat
generated during drilling.
Starting the drilling process, ensuring that the core barrel is properly
aligned with the marked location.
Applying steady pressure and control the drill speed to prevent overheating
and maintain a straight hole.
c)Core cutting:
As the drill advances, the core is removed within the core barrel.
Periodically retract the drill to clear cuttings and allow for the removal of
the core .
ARKI GROUP DESIGN LLC
d)Extraction:
Once the desired depth is reached, stop the drill and retract it.
Carefully extract the core sample from the core barrel. This may require
using core extractors or other tools.
e)Sample Handling:
Handling the core with care to avoid damages.
f) Cleanup:
Removing the drilling equipment from the site.
Cleaning the area, ensuring that any drilling fluids or debris are properly disposed
off.
g)Documentation:
Maintaining detailed records of the core cutting activities, including location,
depths, core sample characteristics, and any issues encountered during drilling
h)Reporting:
Preparing a report with the findings from core sample analysis and any relevant
recommendations for the project.
ARKI GROUP DESIGN LLC
5.3 Core cutting Process
Positioning the core drilling machine over the marked location.
Using water for cooling and dust suppression during core cutting
to prevent overheating and airborne dust.
Begining the core cutting process, maintaining a stable and
controlled feed rate.
Periodically inspecting the core bit for wear and replace it when
necessary.
5.4 Post-Work Cleanup
Turn off the core drilling machine.
Removing all waste material and clean the work area.
Storing the equipment properly.
Disposing of waste materials in accordance with local regulations.
ARKI GROUP DESIGN LLC
6. Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency, contact the site supervisor or project
manager immediately. Follow the site's emergency response plan.
a) Stop the Core cutting Process: Immediately halting the core
cutting operation by shutting down the equipment or disengaging
the core bit.
b) Alert Personnel: Notifying all personnel on-site about the
emergency, using a predefined signal or communication method.
c) Evacuate the Area: If the emergency poses a risk to personnel,
evacuate the immediate area to a safe distance. Ensure everyone
is accounted for.
d) Assess the Situation: Determining the nature of the emergency. It
could be related to equipment failure, a hazardous gas release,
structural instability, or other factors.
e) Notify Authorities: If the situation is severe and beyond the
capabilities of site team, contacting relevant authorities or
emergency services for assistance.
ARKI GROUP DESIGN LLC
f) First Aid: If there are injuries, administer first aid as necessary.
Ensuring that trained personnel are available to provide medical
assistance.
g) Control Hazards: If the emergency involves hazardous substances,
taking measures to control and contain them to prevent further
harm.
h) Fire Safety: In case of a fire, use fire extinguishers or other
appropriate fire-fighting equipment. Evacuating the area if the fire
is uncontrollable.
i)Follow Safety Procedures: Adhering to safety procedures and
protocols, such as donning personal protective equipment, as needed.
j)Communication: Maintaining clear and consistent communication
with all personnel and authorities involved in the emergency response.
k)Investigation and Documenting: After the situation is under control,
investigating the cause of the emergency and document the incident
for future analysis and prevention.
ARKI GROUP DESIGN LLC
l)Review and Improve: Using the incident as an opportunity to review
and improve your emergency response procedures for future core
cutting operations.
7. Revision and Approval
This method statement should be reviewed and approved by the
project manager and the safety officer before core cutting works
commence. It may need to be updated if conditions change or if new
risks are identified.
