85% wool, 10% acrylic, 5% viscose/ The hat is worked bottom-up. Work in
50 gram (1.75 oz) = 100 meters (109 yds) the round in pattern and join each round
with a slip stitch.
GAUGE Finally, sew a snap button to the top and
16 stitches (= 8 stars) measure 10 cm (4”) attach the pompon.

Pattern instructions
HEM
Chain 80 (86, 92) and join into a ring with 1 slip stitch and chain 1.
1 single crochet in each stitch = 80 (86, 92) stitches.
1 slip stitch to join the round and chain 4.
HAT
In star pattern.
Round 1: pick the yarn in the 2nd chain from the hook = 2 loops on the hook, pick the yarn
in the next 2 chains and the next 2 single crochet = 6 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull
through all the loops = 1 loop on the hook, chain 1 = 1 star,
*pick the yarn: first in the tip of the star, then in the left side of the star, and subsequently in
the same single crochet as the previous star, and finally in the next 2 single crochet = 6
loops on the hook, yarn over and pull the hook through all the loops, chain 1*, repeat from
* - * to the end of the round = 40 (43, 46) stars.
1 slip stitch in the 1st chain to join and chain 1.
Round 2: 1 single crochet in each stitch (work the first stitch in the “space” at the tip of the
star) = 80 (86, 92) stitches.
1 slip stitch to join and chain 4.
NB Be careful to position the stars right above each other.
Repeat rounds 1 and 2 until you have 7 (7, 8) rounds of stars. End with 1 round of stars.
Decreases
Round 1: *5 (6, 6) single crochet, skip 1 stitch* 12 times, single crochet to the end of the
round = 68 (74, 80) stitches.
1 slip stitch to join and chain 4.
Round 2: work stars around = 34 (37, 40) stars.

Round 9: *1 single crochet, skip 1 stitch*, repeat * - * around = 16 stitches.

Round 9: *3 single crochet, skip 1 stitch* 8 times, single crochet to the end of the round =
30 stitches.

Round 10: work stars around.

Round 11: *1 single crochet, skip 1 stitch*, repeat * - * around = 17 stitches.
All sizes
Break off the yarn. Sew the yarn tail through the stitches of the last round, pull tightly to
close the hole. Weave in the end.
POMPON
Sew the snap button to the tip of the hat. Attach the pompon.
