With US #6 (4.5mm) needles, CO 80 using Tubular Cast On. (see video link on pg 3) Join the round.
Rnd 1: (K1, sl1wyif) to end of round.
Rnd 2: (Sl1wyib, P1) to end of round.
Rnd 3: Convert 1x1 Rib to 2x2 Rib (see video link on pg 3).
Rnds 4-26: Work in 2x2 Rib (K2, P2). (23 rnds)
Switch to US #9 (5.5mm) needles.
