R3 Acorns

Here's a little bonus pattern to go with the oak leaf design. The acorns can either be
knitted in greens (fresh) or browns (old).

You will need:


yarn in beige and brown or two tones of green (double knit) • toy stuffing
4 x double ended knitting needles (2.75mm) • tapestry needle • scissors

Pattern (Acorn):

Acorn Cup Acorn Body

In the darker of your two yarns cast In the lighter tone pick up 12 stitches from

Cut the yarn, thread through Poke a little toy stuffing into the opening to

Making Up:

Attach the stem to the centre of the acorn cup.

Lose any loose ends of yarn attached to the acorn. If the join between the two colours of cup and
body is untidy you may want to embroider over it with the extra yarn.

Notes:

Abbreviations

[ ] x number Repeat the section in square brackets the required number of times.
{ } x number Repeat the section in curly brackets the required number of times.
(number) Gives the total number of stitches you should have on needle by the end of the row.
k number Knit this number of stitches.
k– Knit every stitch to the end of the row.
k2tog Knit the next two stitches together (-1 stitch).
k2togtbl Knit the next two stitches together through the back of the loop (-1 stitch).
kfb Knit into the front and then the back of a single stitch (+1 stitch).
kfbf Knit into the front and the back and the front again of a single stitch (+2 stitches).
p number Purl this number of stitches.
psso Pass the slipped stitch over any intervening stitches and off the needle.
sl number Slip this number of stitches purl wise.

Needle/Yarn Size

As with most ODDknit patterns the yarn and needle sizes in the "you will need" section are just a guide. Feel free to
improvise with whatever needles and yarn you have lying around - that's half the fun!
