📘 More Advanced Sentence Structures

(Hindi to English | Structure Explanation)

🔹 11. Too...to (इतना...कि नहीं)


✅ Structure:
 Subject + is/was + too + adjective + to + verb
🔁 Examples:
1. वह बहुत थका हुआ था कि चल नहीं सका।
👉 He was too tired to walk.
2. यह बच्चा स्कूल जाने के लिए बहुत छोटा है।
👉 This child is too young to go to school.

🔹 12. So that / In order to (ताकि...)


✅ Structure:
 Subject + verb + so that/in order to + base verb
🔁 Examples:
1. मैं जल्दी उठा ताकि समय पर पहुँच सकूं।
👉 I woke up early so that I could reach on time.
2. वह मेहनत करता है ताकि सफल हो सके।
👉 He works hard in order to succeed.

🔹 13. As if / As though (जैसे कि...)


✅ Structure:
 Subject + verb + as if / as though + subject + past tense
🔁 Examples:
1. वह ऐसे बात करता है जैसे वह सब कुछ जानता हो।
👉 He talks as if he knew everything.
2. वह ऐसे रो रही थी जैसे कुछ बड़ा हुआ हो।
👉 She was crying as though something terrible had happened.

🔹 14. It’s high time / It’s about time (अब समय आ गया है कि...)
✅ Structure:
 It’s high time + subject + past tense
🔁 Examples:
1. अब समय आ गया है कि हम बदलाव करें।
👉 It’s high time we made a change.
2. अब समय है कि तुम ज़िम्मेदारी लो।
👉 It’s about time you took responsibility.

🔹 15. No sooner...than (जैसे ही...)


✅ Structure:
 No sooner + had + subject + V3 + than + subject + verb
🔁 Examples:
1. जैसे ही वह पहुँचा, ट्रेन चल दी।
👉 No sooner had he arrived than the train departed.
2. जैसे ही बारिश शुरू हुई, हम अंदर चले गए।
👉 No sooner had it started raining than we went inside.

🔹 16. Whether...or not (चाहे...या नहीं)


✅ Structure:
 Whether + subject + verb + or not
🔁 Examples:
1. चाहे वह आए या नहीं, हम शुरू करेंगे।
👉 Whether he comes or not, we will start.
2. चाहे तुम मानो या नहीं, यह सच है।
👉 Whether you believe it or not, it’s true.

🔹 17. Used to / Be used to (आदत होना / पहले होता था)


✅ Structure:
 Used to + base verb → habit in the past
 Be used to + noun/verb-ing → current habit
🔁 Examples:
1. मैं पहले सुबह जल्दी उठता था।
👉 I used to wake up early in the morning.
2. मैं अब देर तक काम करने का आदी हो गया हूँ।
👉 I am used to working late hours now.

🔹 18. Let alone (छोड़ो भी, ...)


✅ Structure:
 Main clause + let alone + second item (usually more difficult)
🔁 Examples:
1. वह पैदल चल नहीं सकता, दौड़ना तो दूर की बात है।
👉 He can’t even walk, let alone run.
2. मैंने खाना नहीं खाया, मिठाई तो छोड़ो।
👉 I didn’t even eat food, let alone dessert.

🔹 19. So long as / As long as (जब तक)


✅ Structure:
 So long as / As long as + subject + verb
🔁 Examples:
1. जब तक तुम ईमानदार हो, मुझे कोई आपत्ति नहीं है।
👉 So long as you are honest, I have no objection.
2. जब तक वह यहाँ है, मैं निश्चिंत हूँ।
👉 As long as he is here, I feel secure.

🔹 20. Lest (ऐसा न हो कि...)


✅ Structure:
 Subject + verb + lest + subject + (should) + base verb
🔁 Examples:
1. धीरे चलो ऐसा न हो कि तुम गिर जाओ।
👉 Walk slowly lest you should fall.
2. हमने आवाज़ नहीं की, ऐसा न हो कि वह जाग जाए।
👉 We kept quiet lest he should wake up.
