A tense is a form of the verb that allows you to express time. The tense of the verb tells us when
an event or something existed or when a person did something.

Simple Present Tenses


We use Present Simple to describe an action that is regular, true or normal.

Identification: - ता है , ते है , ती है , ता हूँ , ती हूँ


Three forms of sentences: -

Affirmative
रहा हूँ रहा है
Subject (He, She, it, Name and V1+s/es Rest sentence
Singular noun)
Subject (I, you, they, we, plural V1 Rest sentence

Present continuous tense

We use present continuous tense when we talk about something that is happening
now or around the time of speaking.

Identification: रहा हूँ , रहा है , रही हूँ , रही है , रहे हैं


Three forms of sentences.

Affirmative
रहा हूँ रहा है
Subject + is/am/are + v+ing + R.S.

Important:
Some words are not use in the present continuous.
Like, know, love, hate, understand, believe,
mean, remember, want, prefer etc.

Eg. I am liking tennis. I like tennis.


Spelling Rules
• With most verb add ing.
Go > going
Work > working
• If verb ends with consonant + e, we delete e and add ing.
Come > coming
Have > having
• If verb ends with ie we change ie with ying.
Die > dying.
Lie > lying.
• If verb ends in one vowel + consonant, we double the consonant.
Get > Getting
Run > Running
Sit > Sitting
Exception:
o If verb end with vowel + y, x, or w, we just add ing.
Play > Playing
Mix > Mixing
o With listen > listening
o With visit > visiting
o With travel > travelling.

Present Perfect Continuous tenses
It is use to show an action that start in the past and still continuing.

Identification: - से रहा है !, से रही है !, से रहे हैं !, से रहा हूँ !, से रही हूँ !

Subject (I, you, Plural) Have been V1+ing Since, for R. S
