child size: 0−6months (6−12, 12−24, 2−4kids, 4−6, 6−8, 8−10)
materials
yarn: bulky weight in two colors (120 yds/100 grams), color a:
a 1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3)skeins, color b:
b 1 (1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3)
skeins
needles:
us#11 (8mm) − I prefer using circulars, but straights will work too.
us#10 (6mm)
stitch markers
stitch holders
¾” buttons − 4 (5, 6, 5, 6, 7, 7) buttons
yarn needle
tension
12 sts and 14 rows = 4in/10cm over garter stitch on us#11 (8mm) or needle size needed to obtain gauge.

Directions:

With larger needles and Color A, cast on 56 (64, 68, 74, 78, 84, 88) stitches. Knit two rows with Color A.
*with Color B knit 2 rows, with Color A knit two rows; repeat from * until your body measures 4 (6, 7, 9, 11, 13,
15)" ending with Row two of Color B.

Make two sleeves the same:


With spare US #11 cast on 15 (17, 19, 19, 21, 21, 23) sts with Color A, knit 2 rows
*With Color B knit 2 rows, with Color A knit 2 rows
AT THE SAME TIME starting on the 6th row, increase 1 stitch on either end of the last row of Color A 4 (4, 5, 5, 6,
6, 7) times every 4 (4, 4, 4, 8, 8, 8) rows.
23 (25, 29, 29, 33, 33, 37) sts.

Work even until sleeve measures 4 (6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15)" ending with Row 2 of Color A.

With Color B bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next two rows.

Join Color A to the right side of the body, knit 11 (13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 18), *bring yarn to the front, slip next stitch as if
to purl, bring yarn to the back, slip stitch back to left hand needle, bring yarn to the front, slip stitch from right
hand needle to left, bring yarn to the back, slip stitch back to right hand needle, slip two stitches individually to
right hand needle, **slip the first of these stitches over the second, slip another stitch over to the right hand needle;
rep from ** until 4 sts have been bound off, slip last stitch back to the left hand needle, place a marker, join to the
RS of one sleeve and knit across Right Side of sleeve, place a marker*, join to back sts and knit 26 (30, 32, 36, 38, 40,
44), work from * to * once, join to left front sts, knit 11 (13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 18).
86 (98, 110, 116, 128, 134, 146) sts total.

Knit one row even with Color A.

Raglan Shaping:
Row 1 (Color B): *knit to two sts before marker, k2tog, slm, ssk; rep from * 3 more times, knit to the end.
Row 2 (Color B): knit
Row 3 (Color A): work as Row 1
Row 4 (Color A): work as Row 2
Repeat rows 1-4 until you have 30 (34, 38, 36, 40, 46, 50) sts, you should end with the second row of Color A, if you
have not (some sizes will not), simply work two rows even in Color A.

Knit one row even in Color A.


Bind off all stitches loosely in Color A.

Buttonhole Band: with Color B and smaller needles, and with RS facing pickup and knit 23 (29, 35, 41, 50, 53, 59)
sts from bottom of body to neck edge.
Knit one row.
Buttonhole Row: k2, *yo, k2tog, k4 (4, 4, 7, 7, 6, 7) ; rep to last 3 sts, yo, k2tog, k1
Knit one row.
Bind off all sts loosely.

Button Band: with Color B and smaller needles and with RS facing, pickup and knit 23 (29, 35, 41, 50, 53, 59) sts
from neck edge to bottom.
Knit 3 rows even.
Bind off all sts loosely.
