LEARNING OBJECTIVES

M At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to identify and recognise the word shapes given
with support.

C At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to recognise and sound out the word they have
created.
1. Teacher displays shape flashcards on the board.
2. Give pupils a minute to look at the shapes.
I. PRE-LESSON
3. Pupils close their eyes and take one or two flashcards away.
4. Pupils say which shapes are missing.
1. Teacher and pupils review the shapes vocabulary. On the board, write the
word red. Ask pupils to read it.
2. Then draw an outline around the word that shows its shape when written.
Draw the outline of another, longer word on the board and encourage
pupils to guess what the word is.
II. LESSON 3. Teacher then distribute worksheets.
DEVELOPMENT 4. Pupils guess the words and write them. Check with the class.
Activity 2:
3. Ask pupils to draw one or two word shapes for their partner to guess the
word.
4. Pupils read and checks if their pair had written correct or wrong spelling.
5. The pair need to correct his or her friend.
1. Pupils look around the room and write down all the shapes they can see in
two minutes.
III. POST LESSON 2. Give one or two examples to help them, e.g. the board, the door
(rectangle).
3. Elicit ideas and encourage pupils to compare their ideas.
