Mama Moon bag

The mama moon bag is a bigger version of the original Make.E

moon bag. Designed to keep the ‘no sew’ element from the
original, the mama moon bag is crocheted in a horseshoe shape
with a join as you go flap. The bag can be made in two colour
ways, keeping the bag all one colour or working a contrasting
colour for the flap.
Final approx. measurements – Width 34cm x 30cm long

You will need:

• 2x 100m of 5mm Bobbiny rope either same colour or contrasting. – alternatively, you can use
macramé rope as a substitute yarn. (Thinner cords also work but keep in mind that your bag will work up smaller).
• 10mm hook
• Scissors
• Bag strap – I find mine on EBay, search ‘replacement shoulder bag strap’ for lots of choice.
• Optional sew on magnetic clasp

Abbreviations (THIS PATTERN IS WRITTEN UK TERMS - US CONVERSION STS CAN BE FOUND BELOW):
• Ch – chain
• ss – slip stitch
• dc – Double Crochet (US Single Crochet)
• htr – Half Treble Crochet (US Half Double Crochet)
• tr – Treble Crochet (US Double Crochet)
• 2dctog – Double Crochet the next 2 sts together – decrease. (Single Crochet the next 2 sts together
– decrease.)
• 2htrtog – Half Treble the next 2 sts together – decrease. (Half Double the next 2 sts together –
decrease)

• 2trtog – Treble Crochet the next 2 sts together – decrease. (Double Crochet the next 2 sts together
– decrease.)
Chainless Foundation – ch2, insert hook in first ch (catching 2 loops on top of hook), YO, pull through
1st loop on hook. YO, pull through 2 on hook (1 chainless dc made), insert hook into stitch below
(catching 2 loops on hook) YO, pull through 1st loop on hook. YO, pull through 2 on hook (2nd chainless
dc made). I have added a ‘HOW TO’ of this technique on my highlights on my Instagram page
@make.e.

Before you start: TOP TIP for winding your yarn… find the knotted end of your bobbiny
rope and start winding a ball, this will save you getting in a big tangle later.
