Hyrule Compendium Entry
Cold Darners can be found in cold regions of Hyrule, such as Hyrule Ridge and the Tabantha Frontier. They can also be purchased from traveling merchants, such as Maypin and Beedle at the Kara Kara Bazaar and Woodland Stable. When Cooked, Cold Darners can be made into Elixirs that provide Heat Resistance.[1] At the Kochi Dye Shop, Cold Darners can be used to make Blue Dye.
As part of the Side Quest "Little Sister's Big Request", Link must ask Gleema what the Insect she wants to see is. She will reveal that she once saw Dragonflies in a Book, and when she grows up, she wants to travel and see Dragonflies in real life.[5] Gleema was unwilling to tell her sister Jana that she wanted to see them because of Jana's distaste for them.[6] However, because it is Gleema's birthday wish, Jana will ask Link to bring her the Dragonflies.[7] Upon delivery, Jana grows disgusted by them asks Link to give them to Gleema instead.[8] As a reward for completing this Quest, Jana will give Link a Silver Rupee.[9]

I once saw pictures of a warm darner, a cold darner, and an electric darner in a book... But when I showed them to Jana, she said their eyes were creepy and got mad. .... Oh... That was a secret, wasn't it?! Jana is gonna be mad at me again! But I think that's because the pictures were all up close and stuff! I bet real ones are super cute! When I grow up, I wanna travel the world and meet some real dragonflies!
— Gleema (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
I see. So Gleema knows that I despise dragonflies, and that's why she wouldn't tell me how much she loves them.
— Jana (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Well, this is her birthday wish... I didn't have a choice. Bring me a warm darner, cold darner, and electric darner, please.
— Jana (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
BAH! I CAN'T DO THIS! Please give them to her...just...give them to Gleema yourself!
— Jana (Breath of the Wild) - ↑
Now then... I must thank you for catching those dragonflies. Here, take this.
