Recall is a recurring ability in The Legend of Zelda series.(TotKTears of the Kingdom | AoIAge of Imprisonment)[1][2]

Overview

Tears of the Kingdom

Recall is an Ancient Power that allows its user to stop Objects in motion and reverse their trajectory. In Zelda's Memories from the Era of Foundation, both she and Sonia can be seen using Recall with the power granted to them by their Secret Stones of Time. During the Main Quest "Find Princess Zelda", an apparition of Zelda appears before Link when he touches the projection of her Secret Stone in the Temple of Time. She grants him the ability to Recall before disappearing.[3]

Link can use Recall to hit Objects or Enemies in the reversed path of his target. He can also use it on fallen pieces of Ruins Rubble to access Sky Islands directly above him. Recall only reverses the movement of the targeted Object, however, and if too much time has elapsed it may not be able to reverse all of its movement.

The effects of Recall can be ended prematurely and will end on their own after enough time elapses. When this happens, the Object will resume its movement based on its new position.

Other Appearances

Age of Imprisonment

Like in Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda has the power to Recall Objects as a result of her Secret Stone of Time. She uses her ability during certain Weak-Point Smashes, wherein she reverses the trajectory of her Blade of Light to repeatedly damage the Powerful Enemy in front of her. She can also utilize it during Sync Strikes with Calamo, activating Recall to ensure his Boomerangs return to him.[4] Lastly, her Unique Skills Temporal Toss and Temporal Counter both incorporate Recall to deal damage to Enemies.[5][6]

Sonia demonstrates Recall during her unique Sync Strike with Rauru. As part of this attack, she uses Recall to reverse the trajectory of his Spear of Light, dealing additional damage to the Enemies before them.[7]

During the Movie "Unsettling Rumors", Sonia suggests to Zelda that she will one day be able to use Recall on multiple Objects at once.[8] As part of the Quest "The Queen's Suggestion", Zelda decides to master this skill, and she is able to learn how to reverse multiple Objects.[9][10][11] This allows her to use Recall on her Light projectiles that appear at the end of certain combos, sending them backwards to perform a follow-up attack on Enemies.[12]
