Cruise Industry Suing Hawaii Over "Green Fee"

Above, a Honolulu sunset. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

"Democrats never met a tax they didn't like or hike." This was said many times by President Ronald Reagan. Such is the case with Hawaii.

Hawaii is under Democrat control much like California. They passed a "Green Fee" earlier this year on the tourism industry purportedly to fight climate change, which is bullshit anyway.

The cruise industry is fighting back and plans on suing the state of Hawaii over this tax that's set to go into effect next year.

USA Today reported:

The cruise industry’s leading trade group is suing Hawaii over a new tax on cruises and other travel accommodations.

The state passed the country’s first “Green Fee” earlier this year, raising its transient accommodations tax by 0.75% to 11% to fund climate change resiliency projects and other environmental efforts. The increased fee, set to take effect in 2026, applies to hotels, vacation rentals and – for the first time – cruises.

Cruise Lines International Association said, in an Aug. 27 lawsuit filed in the District of Hawaii, that the change violates federal law, in part because it conflicts with the U.S. Constitution’s Tonnage Clause.

Honolulu Ship Supply Co., Kaua’i Kilohana Partners and Aloha Anuenue Tours LLC are also listed as plaintiffs. They contend that the requirements place an undue burden on cruise lines and passengers and risk undermining Hawaii cruise tourism.

Hawaii To Hike Hotel Tax To Cope With Climate Change

Above, the Sheraton Waikiki. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Whether or not climate change (a.k.a. Global Warming) is manmade is debatable.

Democrats love to find ways to tax the living daylights out of people, that includes raising or imposing new taxes to allegedly fight climate change.

Here's a new scheme coming out of Hawaii, which the Democrats have a stranglehold on the state's government on a par with California and other states.

NPR reported:

HONOLULU — In a first-of-its kind move, Hawaii lawmakers are ready to hike a tax imposed on travelers staying in hotels, vacation rentals and other short-term accommodations and earmark the new money for programs to cope with a warming planet.

State leaders say they'll use the funds for projects like replenishing sand on eroding beaches, helping homeowners install hurricane clips on their roofs and removing invasive grasses like those that fueled the deadly wildfire that destroyed Lahaina two years ago.

A bill scheduled for House and Senate votes on Wednesday would add an additional 0.75% to the daily room rate tax starting Jan. 1. It's all but certain to pass given Democrats hold supermajorities in both chambers and party leaders have agreed on the measure. Gov. Josh Green has said he would sign it into law.

Chemtrails: Secret Geo-Engineering Project?

Above, contrails or chemtrails over Barking Spider Acre? Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The topic of chemtrails has been around for quite a while. Some see it as experiments to change the weather or other nefarious reasons.

I remember the late Art Bell talked about chemtrails with guests back in the 1990s on Coast-To-Coast AM.

A few months ago, a J. D. Lees (an ex-science teacher and publisher of G-FAN) commented on one of my blog posts:

I see in the photo you posted there are several "chem-trails" in the sky. There was another recent photo of you with a firearm and the sky behind you was full of chem-trails. We see them in Canada here almost every clear day. I have even seen planes spraying them at dusk. Planes have always caused "con-trails." ("Con" = condensation, as the water vapor that is the product of burning fuel condenses in the cold upper air.) However, the con-trails always dissipate within a minute or so. Chem-trails last much longer (even more than an hour) and spread across the sky much farther, sometimes causing a clear blue sky to become "overcast" or hazy. I don't know what's in the chem-trails... I thought they were part of an attempt to reflect light back into space in response to the fake global warming "crisis." But spraying them in the evening wouldn't account for that. It's disappointing to see this being done in the U.S. We Canadians are much more sheep-like when it comes to government trampling on our rights, but I would have thought Americans would be less likely to allow this to be done without some sort of proper explanation.

Maybe the following that the Gateway Pundit posted is the (or an) explanation.

It begins with:

What if I told you that there was an actual CONSPIRACY going on?

A research experiment that they kept hidden from the public because they were afraid of a backlash.

Because that is exactly what has been going on.

And keep reading to the end, because you will never be able to guess who has been involved in this project…

From the deck of a decommissioned aircraft carrier in the San Francisco Bay, researchers from the University of Washington LAUNCHED trillions of salt particles into the atmosphere with the intent of blocking out the sunlight from earth.

This is all being done in the name of stopping global warming of course!

Climate Madness: Kill 200,000 Dairy Cows

The United States isn't the only country in the west with Leftist lunatics.

The Left in Ireland wants to destroy the dairy farm industry. All in the name of climate change.

The Federalist Papers reported:

The high priests of climate change are at it again, this time decreeing that 200,000 dairy cows must be put to death to satisfy the left’s global warming religion.

This latest outrage is coming from government officials in Ireland who have announced the destruction of tens of thousands of dairy cows so that officials can meet their climate change goals.

One proposal claims that by reducing the country’s dairy herd by 10 percent, the equivalent of removing 65,000 cows a year for three years, will help officials meet their emissions reduction plans, according to Farmers Weekly citing the Irish Independent newspaper.

The Telegraph’s Jamie Blackett called the whole plan a sort of “madness.”

“Spending vast sums of taxpayer’s money on destroying productive animals would be a perfect summation of the net zero madness infecting the West. The Irish Department of Agriculture has said that the report was just a ‘modeling document’, but no sane government would even get to the point of including such a plan in ‘a deliberative process’” Why? Because it is irrational,” he wrote.

“The government’s Environmental Protection Agency produced a report in February this year proposing a 30% reduction in Irish cattle, which would equate to killing well over half a million cows,” the outlet reported.

Governments are also pushing synthetic foods in hopes of replacing real food.

Such “innovations” presumably include eliminating meat and forcing everyone to eat bugs. Other “solutions” could involve the development of synthetic meats that apparently contain precancerous cells.

These sort of harebrained schemes to meet climate goals are the talk of leftist governments everywhere, granted. Recently President Joe Biden’s “climate czar,” John Kerry, also talked of targeting America’s family farms for destruction to satisfy the left’s climate change obsession.

People Should Drink Less Coffee To Combat Climate Change

With each passing minute (not just each passing day), the world is getting more wacko.

The latest is that a Canadian "study" has found that people should drink less coffee to combat climate change.

From the New York Post:

Canadian researchers analyzed coffee’s “contribution to climate change” in a piece published in early January and suggested people moderate their consumption of the popular drink as a part of the solution.

Researchers Luciano Rodrigues Viana, Charles Marty, Jean-François Boucher and Pierre-Luc Dessureault wrote in an analysis published in The Conversation that pollution from preparing coffee was “just the tip of the iceberg.”

“Limiting your contribution to climate change requires an adapted diet, and coffee is no exception. Choosing a mode of coffee preparation that emits less GHGs (greenhouse gases) and moderating your consumption are part of the solution,” the researchers at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi wrote.

The study also found that using coffee pods to brew coffee contributed less to the carbon footprint than brewing coffee with a traditional filter.

Extinction Advocates Call For No Children To Save The Planet

The Looney Left Report

The Left is calling on people to not have children in order to save the planet from climate change. These "extinction activists" are essentially calling for extinction of the human race. "To breed or not to breed."

Well, as far as I am concerned, these wackos should lead by example and not breed. The world would be a better place with no more leftist radicals.

From Fox News:

Several media outlets and talking heads have encouraged parents to rethink having children because human beings — even small ones like kids — risk polluting the world and causing global climate destruction.

News and op-ed headlines have come out in unabashed support of having few or even zero children over the years. One example is from NBC News Think in 2017: "Science proves kids are bad for the earth. Morality suggests we stop having them." Another headline from the Guardian that year declared that the answer to saving the planet was simple: "Want to save the planet? Have fewer children." Or as one New York Times writer asked in 2021: "To Breed or Not to Breed?"

A climate reporter posed a similar question to parents and parents-in-waiting in a Washington Post analysis piece this month: "Should you not have kids because of climate change? It’s complicated."

The Big Freeze

It looks like I'll again be spending my day indoors at home.

I took a peek at today's weather and saw this astonishing temperature of Jamestown, New Mexico from WeatherBug:

Then, I took a look at the weather forecast for today and Saturday at the National Weather Service and saw this:

Today
Sunny, with a high near 26. Wind chill values as low as -3. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.
Tonight
Mostly clear, with a low around 1. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming southwest in the evening.
Saturday
Sunny, with a high near 33. Wind chill values as low as -7. Calm wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Yikes! Global warming indeed!

Quick! Hide Your Refrigerator, Biden's After It!

Everyday, it seems there's not much remaining in our lives that His Fraudulency Joe Biden and his minions won't target for elimination.

Now it is the family refrigerator!

From The Western Journal:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed new rules on Friday that would restrict the use of refrigerators, air conditioning equipment and heat pumps that utilize hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).

The EPA’s proposed rule would crack down on the manufacturing and importing of goods containing HFCs, which would restrict the use of HFCs in refrigeration units, air conditioning systems and heat pump equipment starting in 2025, according to an agency press release. In accordance with the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, a global climate treaty that the Senate ratified in September, the agency intends to reduce the production and consumption of HFCs by 85 percent by 2036.

“With this latest proposal under the bipartisan AIM Act, EPA continues to advance President Biden’s ambitious climate agenda while investing in American innovation and ingenuity,” EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan said in a statement.

United Nations Climate Change Conference Hypocrisy

Almost immediately after winning re-election, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham took a junket to Egypt to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference. She wasn't alone.

What is interesting, if the following is correct, 800 others went to the conference in private jets or aboard an airliner. Just think of the carbon footprints all those planes left!

Typical of elitists. The old saying, "Do as I say, not as I do!" certainly does apply to them.

The following pretty much sums it all up:

Lujan Grisham Celebrates Re-Election With An Egyptian Junket

Now that Gov. "Malevolent Michelle" Lujan Grisham has won re-election, she's back to her old ways of junketing on the taxpayers' dime.

A year ago, she junketed to Scotland for "climate change" conference. This time it is Egypt she's headed off to for the same thing. Nice of her to leave a nice big carbon footprint while traveling by jet.

According to the Piñon Post:

One day after winning a second term as governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham was reported to be leaving the state to go to an eco-leftist climate conference in Egypt.

The Santa Fe New Mexican’s Daniel Chacón reported, “New Mexico @GovMLG is traveling to Egypt on Friday to attend the second week of the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference.”

6 Governors Take "Climate Change" Junket and Stick Taxpayers With The Bill

Six governors took a "little" junket to Glasgow, Scotland for a United Nations climate change conference last November. One of the six was New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.

According to The Center Square:

(The Center Square) – Gov. Jay Inslee brought his wife to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, sticking Washington taxpayers with the bill, which included more than $12,510.08 for business class airfare for the couple, something no other governor did at taxpayer expense.

Inslee led a delegation of subnational governments to the conference. The total travel tab for Washington taxpayers cost $25,955.32, more than any other U.S. state examined by The Center Square. The higher cost was due in part to the governor's decision to fly with his wife in business class while other governors who attended at taxpayer expense flew in less expensive seats.

Inslee was one of six state governors who attended the conference. All six are part of the U.S. Climate Alliance, a group created in response to former President Donald Trump's climate policies. The other state leaders were New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, Hawaii Gov. David Ige, Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Oregon Gov. Kate Brown.

In total, state documents obtained by The Center Square through open records requests show taxpayers in these six states spent more than $90,000 – not including most security costs – to send governors and other state employees to the conference in Glasgow in November 2021, during a time of pandemic restrictions, Zoom meetings and rising inflation.

The records detail what state leaders in Washington, New Mexico, Hawaii, Louisiana, Illinois, and Oregon did during the conference and how much it cost state taxpayers. Oregon was the only state that included the costs of providing security. The records from all other states examined didn't include security costs. Those costs likely added at least thousands of dollars for taxpayers in each state.

Some governors wined and dined pretty "high on the hog" more so than others. What is interesting is that most of the expenses incurred by Lujan Grisham were either unavailable, hidden or her office is not responding to queries. Could her re-election campaign have something to do with that?

The Center Square also reported:

The bill for New Mexico taxpayers was $0, according to spending records from the governor's office. New Mexico officials didn't respond to questions about how the trip was funded, but the Associated Press reported the Climate Registry and the Energy Foundation paid for trip expenses. The Center Square has requested, but not yet received, spending records from the New Mexico State Police, which provided security to the governor during the trip.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's schedule for the trip included sightseeing, such as a visit to Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House and Arthur's Seat and a bus tour of the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness.

In addition to food, travel and lodging, all six states paid hundreds of dollars for COVID-19 testing required for travel and for the conference.

According to the article, The Climate Registry is "a Los Angeles-based nonprofit group "that empowers North American organizations to do more in the fight against climate change by providing services and tools that help them reduce their emissions." If they paid most of Lujan Grisham's expenses, this would have to be reported as a campaign contribution or an in-kind contribution with the New Mexico Secretary of State's office. Was it? Frankly, I wouldn't put much trust in what the governor's office provided on her junket spending.

One prominent climate activist was not impressed with this gathering of liberal Democrat politicians.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg, 19, called the climate summit a failure.

“It is not a secret that COP26 is a failure. It should be obvious that we cannot solve the crisis with the same methods that got us into it in the first place,” she said during a speech about two miles away from the conference center. “The COP has turned into a PR event, where leaders are giving beautiful speeches and announcing fancy commitments and targets, while behind the curtains governments of the Global North countries are still refusing to take any drastic climate action.”

A good look at Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's expenses, including official and campaign records, is called for to see what she actually spent for this junket and if she complied with all reporting laws along with expenses incurred by the New Mexico State Police.

Is Your RV Stove Harming You and The Environment?

Above, the galley area of my motorhome. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

First, they were going after cows for methane emissions. Now they're going after your RV stove.

Some wacko at Popular Science wrote an article saying that your RV's stove is harming the environment by emitting methane.

According to an article in RV Travel:

“Your gas stove could be hurting everyone around you,” shouts the headline from a recent issue of Popular Science. The subtitle, “A new report has found that stoves are constantly emitting fumes—warming the planet and endangering your health.” Is your RV stove a guilty party?

The Popular Science article trots out information from a recent report from Stanford University. The research says kitchen stoves are “constantly emitting methane” that has “a climate impact comparable to adding a half a million gas-powered cars to the roads.” It doesn’t matter, say researchers, whether the stove is actively cooking something, or not. “We found that over three-quarters of the methane emissions from stoves are emitted while the stove is off,” said Eric Lebel, the lead author of the study. “So these little tiny leaks from the stoves, they really do add up.”

Is your RV stove, while looking shiny and innocent, really adding to global warming? In a word, “No.” While there are concerns that RVers need to address in terms of safety, your RV kitchen appliance is not contributing in any great way to global warming. Does this fly in the face of the Stanford study?

Fight Back Facebook's Climate Change Propaganda

It little while ago, I posted about New Mexico Governor "Malevolent Michelle" Lujan Grisham's trip to the UN climate change conference in Glasgow, Scotland.

When I posted the link to the blog post, Facebook added this little notice to it:

Well, that doesn't bother me as we independent anti-propaganda thinkers can simply add this little notice in response (feel free to copy and save for future use and have some fun):

"Grishy the Clown" At UN Climate Change Conference

If there's one thing New Mexico's citizens can count on is Gov. "Malevolent Michelle" Lujan Grisham's fondness for living "high on the hog" at the taxpayers' expense.

The latest is her little junket to Scotland to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference. To get there, Her Majesty left a nice carbon footprint from her flight there.

It's really pointless for her to be there. All they are is a bunch of elitists sitting around echoing each other with their climate change bullplop.

According to Piñon Post:

On Monday, scandal-ridden alleged serial groper Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham tweeted from Scotland of her participation in the globalist “climate change” summit being held in Glasgow, which is features elites from other countries who no doubt flew there in CO2-consuming jets, just like the embattled Governor.

Lujan Grisham wrote on Twitter, “I’m honored to be at @COP26 this week, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland, representing New Mexico and the work we’ve done to achieve climate solutions on the world stage.”

“I am so proud of the work we have done in under three years, including nationally leading emissions reductions rules for the oil and gas industry, requiring 100% clean electricity by 2045, implementing new energy-efficient building codes, and so much more.” This is referring to Lujan Grisham’s Green New Deal, also known as the“Energy Transition Act,” which aims to completely wipe out the oil and gas industry by 2045.

Lujan Grisham’s attendance at the elite event comes as multiple crises are exploding in New Mexico, including a crime epidemic in Albuquerque, one of the highest positive virus testing rates in the nation, one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, and a pivotal November 2 municipal election right around the corner. The Governor’s extreme pandemic orders still remain in place, including forcibly masking children at school and requiring masks at all times indoors, except when eating or drinking.

No, there's no truth to the rumor that "Grishy the Clown" is in Scotland to provide the entertainment.

California Considering State Ban On Gas-Powered Gardening Equipment

The Looney Left Report

The lunatic left and their fantasy of manmade global warming are taking aim at gas-powered gardening equipment in (where else?) California.

KGO reported:
NOVATO, Calif. (KGO) -- If you've got a gas-powered lawnmower or leaf blower or any other garden equipment, you may have to give it up completely.
California is considering a statewide ban on the small-engine machines and Novato is the most recent city to make moves towards getting rid of them.
Mark Bailey, the owner of Buck's Saw Service, knows he'll have to sell more of his battery-powered equipment as he prepares to lose sales of another kind of inventory, blowers and mowers that run on gas.
Bailey says he sells about 500 of them a year.

New "Breck Girl" Martin Heinrich Endorses Green New Deal

Above, Martin Heinrich.

New Mexico Senator Martin "New Breck Girl" Heinrich has endorsed the so-called "Green New Deal" socialist climate change scam.

It is really earth-shattering news that Heinrich is steadfastly opposed to cow farts.

The New Mexico Journal reported:
U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich became the second member of the New Mexico congressional delegation to endorse the Green New Deal.
Heinrich made his announcement Friday, on the same day students were marching around the world for action on climate change, including here in Albuquerque as part of the New Mexico Youth Climate Strike. U.S. Rep. Deb Haaland, who represents most of the Albuquerque area, endorsed the Green New Deal months ago.
The U.S. Senate earlier this year voted 57-0 against the Green New Deal resolution put on the floor by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who dismissed the deal as a “far-left science fiction novel.” Democrats, including Heinrich and fellow New Mexico Sen. Tom Udall, labeled the vote as a political stunt. They voted present.
Critics of the Green New Deal believe it would devastate fossil fuel industries — including the oil and gas industry, which is the top industry in New Mexico.
Power the Future, a conservative energy advocacy group, criticized Heinrich’s endorsement.
“The Green New Deal would be a disaster for New Mexico’s families costing each household nearly $72,000 in the first year alone,” Power The Future Western States Director Larry Behrens said. “When given the opportunity to vote for the Green New Deal, Senator Heinrich instead voted ‘present’ so it appears his newfound support has nothing to do with the environment and everything to do with appeasing eco-left special political interests.”

Gee, if the "Green New Steal" should become law and devastates the fossil fuel industries, how would Gov. Lujan Grisham be able to pay for her free college plan? Out of our pockets, of course!

French Revolt Against Macron's Carbon Tax

The left in the United States have been clamoring for carbon and other taxes on the American driver for years to fight global warming, now called climate change. The whole thing is a fraud. It is a plot by the left to gain control over energy and thereby the people. If they had their way, the leftist Democrats here would impose the same taxes on us.

The French president did just what the left has been clamoring for, and all hell has broken loose in France. The middle class are revolting and rioting. If this tax goes into effect, the French will be facing gasoline prices in excess of $7.00/gallon.

What's happening was best described by Rush Limbaugh yesterday:
You know who’s protesting in France? The middle class. You may not know this. They’re sometimes called the yellow vest crowd. The reason is, in France, you are required to have a yellow vest in your car in case your car has a breakdown or an accident, you’re to put that on so that you’re seen at night by emergency personnel or others. It’s for your safety. So everybody’s wearing the yellow vest.
It’s the middle class, and they’re protesting over climate change! They’re protesting this carbon tax, which is exactly what the worldwide left wants to happen in the United States. They’re protesting this massive increase in the price of gasoline. And it is the worst protests that have taken place in Paris in all of France since 1968. It is devastating. And it’s happening in the elite sections like near the Champs-Elysees.
And it’s got this new French president totally nonplussed because he thought this was the route to instant love, to instance popularity. Why, everybody believes in climate change. Everybody wants to save the planet, everybody hates fossil fuels, everybody hates pollution, everybody this, everybody that. This young, impressionable little guy has been led to the trough by a bunch of worldwide leftists, and he’s bought hook, line, and sinker this literal bilge and drivel that they’ve been teaching him.
So he slaps this massive tax, and now he’s got the middle class in his country revolting. Boston had its problems with tea, the French are having problems with gasoline. I think energy prices are probably more important to people than tea. Now, this is gonna be an interesting winter in Paris. And I hope it doesn’t get too cold because a lot of people use fossil fuels to heat their homes. And when people can’t afford to heat their homes as well as drive their cars, they tend to get grouchy.
The latest news is that President Macron has put a six-month delay in implementing the tax. Yes, he blinked. But the French people don't want a delay, they want the tax eliminated.

Earth Has Been Cooling, Media Ignores It

Above, Jamestown, New Mexico back in February. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The news media is as phony as the mythical climate change/global warming scenario.

The planet has been cooling for years and the past two years saw global cooling at a record rate. Yet the media has been ignoring the story. Maybe it's because it doesn't fit their political agenda?

They're not even curious!

According to Investors Business Daily:
Inconvenient Science: NASA data show that global temperatures dropped sharply over the past two years. Not that you'd know it, since that wasn't deemed news. Does that make NASA a global warming denier?
Writing in Real Clear Markets, Aaron Brown looked at the official NASA global temperature data and noticed something surprising. From February 2016 to February 2018, "global average temperatures dropped by 0.56 degrees Celsius." That, he notes, is the biggest two-year drop in the past century.
"The 2016-2018 Big Chill," he writes, "was composed of two Little Chills, the biggest five month drop ever (February to June 2016) and the fourth biggest (February to June 2017). A similar event from February to June 2018 would bring global average temperatures below the 1980s average."
Isn't this just the sort of man-bites-dog story that the mainstream media always says is newsworthy?

California Families To Be Hit Hard By Democrat Water Restrictions

The Looney Left Report

The leftist Democrat control-freak lunatics in Sacramento have passed a new law (which goes into effect in January) that greatly restricts the amount of water usage.

The Conservative Firing Line reported:
On Friday, the Los Angeles Times reported that far-left lawmakers in California have passed water usage restrictions to institute a per-person water use goal of 55 gallons per day until 2025.  According to the report, the “limit decreases to 52.5 gallons until 2030 and 50 gallons beginning in 2030.”  And it’s being done to fight “climate change.”
“A lot of us have taken water for granted, but it’s not something we can take for granted in Southern California,” said Assemblywoman Laura Friedman, D-Glendale. “Climate change, drought — we need to make sure it doesn’t impact life and safety and the economic future of our state.”
What the Times does not include, however, is the impact this new law signed by Gov. Jerry Brown — which goes into effect in January — will have on families.

According to the Times report:
An 8-minute shower uses about 17 gallons of water, a load of laundry up to 40, and a bathtub can hold 80 to 100 gallons of water.

I hope people read this before going into the voting booth today in California. Boy, am I glad I moved out of Commiefornia!
