Dodgers Win World Series, But...

While I am glad that the Los Angeles Dodgers won the 2024 World Series in Yankee Stadium last night, I can't get past the fact that I am done with them and Major League Baseball in general. I did not watch any of the games.

The reasons were their support for the Black Lives Matter Marxist group. I stated my outrage here. That was later reinforced when Major League Baseball pulled the All-Star Game from Atlanta in 2020. I wrote about that here.

Then, the Dodgers did something even more stupid last year:

But inclusion for some has come to mean exclusion for others. As part of their Pride Night celebrations, the Dodgers invited, then uninvited, then reinvited the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence," a self-described "Order of queer and trans nuns" who "use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry."

Their target is frequently the Catholic Church. The group's roster includes such faux-religious ribaldry as Sister Risqué of the Sissytine Chapel, Father Fellatio, Sister Missionary Position, and other less printable mockery of traditional Catholic figures and beliefs. Their motto: "Go forth and sin some more!"

The Dodgers saw fit to bestow the team's Community Hero Award on the group, despite a fairly pedestrian record of actual impact; per their documents filed with the IRS, the group offers modest grants, between $50,000 and $60,000 to community groups each year. Backlash ensued, but after an initial backtrack, the team reinvited the "Sisters."

The news came as a betrayal to many longtime Dodger fans, who remembered devout Catholic Vin Scully melodically commentating games for 67 seasons, the "Nuns Days" that used to fill Chavez Ravine with (real) wimples and habits, and the Catholic Bronze Star recipient Gil Hodges playing at first base. The Dodgers seemed content to throw that history away, to the dismay of Catholics like Bishop Robert Barron, until recently an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who called for a boycott of the team.

Since I was already done with the Dodgers and Major League Baseball, I didn't bother to comment on that.  

I will always treasure being a Dodger fan while the team was owned by Walter and Peter O'Malley. But, I am no longer a fan under the current ownership.

Truckers Staging Massive Protest In Response To Judge Engoron

The grotesque order of Judge Engoron of $364 million against former President Trump and sons Don Jr. and Eric are spurring truckers into action.

Truckers bravely exposed some of the worst COVID shutdowns in the world when they parked their trucks in Ottowa to protest the iron-fisted approach used against citizens by the Justin Trudeau regime. Truckers in the US showed solidarity for their Canadian neighbors and helped block shipping between the US and Canada in Detroit, Michigan. Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was being considered for Joe Biden’s VP, quickly threatened arrest for truckers who dared to block the Ambassador Bridge.

American truckers are now reportedly threatening to stop deliveries into New York City over the grotesque $364 million judgment against President Trump and his sons Don Jr. and Eric by partisan hack Judge Engoron on Friday.

Aside from first responders, is there another profession in the United States that proudly wears patriotism on its sleeves like the American trucker?

An American trucker who goes by “Chicago Ray” had this to say in a video he shared on social media, where he explained why truckers across America are planning to stop delivering to NYC.

“I’ve been on the radio talking to drivers for the last hour and fifteen minutes, and I’ve talked to at least ten drivers going the other way. I’m heading down from South Wisconsin. And they’re [other truckers] gonna start refusing loads to New York City, starting on Monday for NYC. I talked to about three guys that I work with who texted the boss and told him they’re not going to New York City.

I don’t know how far across the country this is or how many truckers are gonna start denying loads to go to New York City, but I’ll tell you what—you f**k around and find out!”

Boycotts and Other Fallout Against Colorado

The fallout over the removal of former President Donald Trump from the Colorado Primary ballot by the Colorado Supreme Court continues.

First, Republican leaders in the state led a protest and taking other action.

A Republican-led protest in Denver sought to “stand against activist judges” following the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to bar former President Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot, with attendees calling out justices for using “communist tactics to keep our great President Trump off the ballot.” 

The protest, organized by Colorado Republican Party fundraising chair Darcy Schoening, drew about two dozen people to the Ralph L. Carr Colorado Judicial Center in Denver Wednesday afternoon. She and Colorado state Sen. Mark Baisley, a Sedalia Republican, addressed the group. 

Schoening said the Colorado Republican Party will drop out of the primary and switch to a delegate system so Trump can be the Republican presidential candidate in the state if the U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t overturn the ruling in time. She said the party has the legal ability to drop out of the primary and that GOP Chair Dave Williams is moving in that direction, with a meeting of the state central committee coming soon to decide the matter.

Target Backing Org That Wants Mt. Rushmore Closed

The Target Corporation is backing a far-left group that advocates demilitarizing the U.S. military and closing Mount Rushmore, as a "symbol of white supremacy".

Fox News reported:

FOX NEWS INVESTIGATES – Since the George Floyd protests and riots of 2020, Target Corporation said it ramped up its diversity, equity and inclusion work. This agenda extended far beyond enhancing representation and support of historically marginalized groups externally and in its stores, and dipped into funding organizations with far-left and blatantly political agendas.

Target's "accelerated" its DEI program in response to Black Lives Matter activism under the leadership of its diversity chief – Kiera Fernandez. The chief has demanded that "White women" get to work to combat the proclaimed systemic racism in America. 

Fox News Digital found that Target, via its nonprofit foundation, which has been directed by the retail giant's senior corporate treasurers, funded a grantee pushing to shut down and give away U.S. sovereign land such as Mount Rushmore – believing it to be an "international symbol of White supremacy" and to demilitarize the "violent" U.S. military. The same grantee also supports the destruction of Israel's Jewish character through what is called the Palestinian "Law of Return" and implementing economic warfare tactics against the Jewish State, such as boycotts and sanctions, to "Free Palestine."

Rep. Ted Lieu and his fellow California Democratic leaders posed with bottles of Bud Light to mock conservatives boycotting the company, and the internet roasted them for it.

Lieu posted a photo on Twitter of himself and fellow California Democratic Reps. Mark Takano, Judy Chu, and Adam Schiff drinking bottles of Bud Light, with all of their beer bottles' logos directly facing the camera. 

"None of these people hold a beer like they've ever held a beer before," conservative radio host and Townhall columnist Derek Hunter wrote. 

 "Barf," Rep. John Block, R-N.M., tweeted. "[N]ailing the final nail in the coffin for @budlight trash beer."

Country star Travis Tritt has joined Kid Rock in boycotting Anheuser-Busch beer products. They are boycotting Anheuser-Busch after it chose trans activist Dylan Mulvaney to promote its Bud Light beers.

I, for one, am not boycotting their beers as I have my own preference, Alien Amber Ale, brewed here in New Mexico by the Sierra Blanca Brewing Company. Regular readers of this block know that to be the case or almost five years. So the Anheuser-Busch controversy has no effect on me, one way or another.

Back in the day (the 1970s), my only favored Anheuser-Busch beer product was Michelob beer. Budweiser was okay, but I was not particularly a fan. I am definitely not a fan of any light beers, no matter who makes them.

Protest Held At Disney H.Q. In Burbank

Protesters gathered at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank last evening to protest the company's woke stance on the Parental Rights in Education law in Florida.

Fox News 11 Los Angeles reported:

BURBANK, Calif. - Conservative groups are boycotting all things Disney over what they claim is the entertainment titan leaning too far left.

Hundreds protested outside of front gates of Walt Disney Studios in Burbank Wednesday evening.

The demonstration was organized by a group, Hold The Line.

The protest was tied to Disney’s response to Florida’s Parental Right’s Education Bill which is also known as the "Don’t Say Gay" bill by its critics.

The bill which became a law in March prohibits teachers from addressing gender identity and sexual orientation in certain classrooms.

Going "Woke" Puts Disney Company In Deep Do-Do

Walt Disney would be spinning in his grave if he knew what a mess the company that bears his name has become.

It is speculated that far-left employees have successfully pressured Walt Disney Company executives into caving in to their "woke" positions in opposing the Parental Rights In Education bill that was recently signed into Florida law by Gov. Ron DeSantis.

The blowback against Disney has been loud and intense. It may even cost them governing privileges they've enjoyed for over 50 years. 

Fox News reported:

Some families across the country are reconsidering their previously Disney-friendly stance in their homes or their lives — including the movies, the streaming service, the theme parks and other offerings from the entertainment and media conglomerate. 

That's partly because Disney's CEO, Bob Chapek, has opposed a new bill signed into law this week by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis; it's known as the Parental Rights in Education bill.

The law prohibits Florida teachers from instructing very young students — those in kindergarten through third grade — about gender identity and sexual orientation. Initially, Chapek had not taken a public stance on it, but some people believe he ultimately caved to a minority of far-left "wokers" who are upset about the new law.

During an appearance on Fox News’ morning show Fox & Friends on Friday, DeSantis accused Disney of trying to “impose a woke ideology” on his state.

He said that Disney should be stopped because if left “unabated” it would “destroy” the country.

In 1967, Florida created the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a semi-private, independent governing entity controlled by Disney. It gave the company the power to approve construction projects for its theme parks as well as build and manage the necessary infrastructure to support its operations.

The district was also empowered to levy its own taxes and then use the revenue to build public services and maintain roadways and bridges.

If the GOP-led state government repeals the law, Disney World and all of its properties would be regulated by Orange and Osceola counties in central Florida.

The Disney company may be the latest to find that "go woke, go broke" also applies to them.

Time To Boycott Shell For Buying Russian Oil

Shell Oil Company is under fire for buying Russian oil, and rightly so.

According to CNBC:

Oil major Shell has sought to defend its decision to buy a heavily-discounted consignment of oil from Russia, saying it would commit the profits to a fund dedicated to humanitarian aid for Ukraine.

On Friday, Shell purchased 100,000 metric tons of flagship Urals crude from Russia. It was reportedly bought at a record discount, with many firms shunning Russian oil due to Moscow’s unprovoked invasion of its neighbor. The purchase did not violate any Western sanctions.

Shell said in a statement late Saturday that it had been in “intense talks with governments and continue to follow their guidance around this issue of security of supply, and are acutely aware we have to navigate this dilemma with the utmost care.”

“We didn’t take this decision lightly and we understand the strength of feeling around it,” the statement read. 

Besides the questionable morality involved, one has to wonder what are the prices Shell is charging for their gasoline, given that they got their Russian oil at a "heavily-discounted" rate? Are they passing on the discount to consumers? Shell gasoline is generally overpriced anyway.

Why are we even buying from Russia when we are sitting on vast supplies of oil here? We can thank Joe Biden for this.

Patagonia Pulls Products From Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Patagonia, the left-wing sportswear company, is pulling products out of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for the "crime" of holding a fundraiser for the conservative House Freedom Fund. 

Gasp! The horror! Oh, my!

Patagonia, the iconic sportswear company that has built a worldwide reputation on outdoor athleticism and environmental activism, will no longer supply Jackson Hole Mountain Resort with its products after a resort owner hosted a fundraiser for the right-wing House Freedom Fund.

Patagonia confirmed Tuesday that it would no longer sell to the resort, its largest single customer in the Jackson Hole area. The resort company operates retail stores in Teton Village at the base of the ski area, as well as Hoback Sports and the Jackson Hole Resort Store in Jackson.

The move came after Jay Kemmerer, one of the resort’s owners, co-hosted a fundraiser Aug. 5 at a posh Jackson hotel for the House Freedom Fund. U.S. Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.; former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows; and U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, headlined the event. Admission cost a minimum of $2,000 per couple.

It's okay for lefties to hold fundraisers and be politically active, but it's not okay for conservatives to do the same. 

This isn't the first time Patagonia got involved in politics.

Goodyear Goes Self-Inflicted "Hindenburg" On Itself

The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is seeing firsthand what pushback looks like.

During the past 24 hours, this image was leaked into the Internet:

MAGA hats, Blue Lives Matter (i.e., law enforcement), All Lives Matter and other political slogans and material are "unacceptable", according to their "Diversity Training Slide". But Black Lives Matter (BLM), a Marxist organization is "Acceptable".

This caught the attention of President Trump, who Tweeted:

Social media and other Internet outlets have been in an uproar over Goodyear's stance. They tried to walk this back, but they aren't convincing anyone.

It is interesting that they deny creating or distributing the visual, but wrote this piece to "provide some important context" to it. Well, if they didn't create it (I could concede it could have been leaked from an insider), why put any "context" to it? Seems to be a contradiction. Why didn't they just call a press conference and deny that it came from them? Maybe it's because they can't.

A friend, who is (or was) a big Goodyear blimp fan, was not impressed with Goodyear's statement.

He wrote:

The most pathetic and sycophantic case of "CYA" I have ever seen. Corporate cowardice on a grand scale. You have lost me as a customer and lifelong admirer of your company forever.

A viral photo of a slide presentation from a recent Goodyear diversity training session shows that the company gives employees the green light to wear attire supportive of causes like the Black Lives Matter movement while explicitly forbidding anything related to MAGA and Blue Lives Matter. 

In response, President Trump tweeted “Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES” and the company took a hit on the stock market. Today, Goodyear stock dropped 2.36%, lowering the valuation of the company by $53.6 million.

Rush: MLB’s Black Lives Matter Support Turns Off Millions of Fans

Rush Limbaugh weighed in on Major League Baseball's embrace of Black Lives Matter yesterday and he was spot-on right about it.

Here some snippets of his comments:

RUSH: No, no. In fact, what I’ve heard, I’ve heard more people are just tuning out baseball. All it took was to see BLM, Black Lives Matter, on the pitcher’s mound at some of these games, and I know some big-time baseball fans that said to heck with this. And they just turned it off. And, you know, I don’t blame ’em. I don’t think these professional sports leagues have the slightest idea what has happened to them and what is in store for them. 

There was a report today that Major League Baseball’s executive council was gonna have a super-secret meeting, and they were going to discuss canceling the whole season. That report, according to latest news, is not true. The latest news, in fact, let me share with you the actual headline: “Report: Major League Baseball Has Not Had Talks of Pausing Season Amid Marlins COVID-19 Outbreak.” 

You know, if they’re not, they’re gonna have to soon because we got three games in, and have you seen the story about A&E? The A&E TV network had this show called Live PD, and it was about cops. They’ve lost half their audience since all this anti-cops stuff started. Arts & Entertainment, co-owned by Walt Disney and Hearst, dropped Live PD in the aftermath of the killing of George Floyd. It was one of their biggest-viewed, most-viewed shows. And it featured body cam footage and footage from the dashboard of the police cars. And people watched it. 

But now, because of the anti-cop sentiment, they’ve lost half of the audience. Now, what does the NFL think is gonna happen and what does Major League Baseball think is gonna happen once they start protesting the anthem and kneeling, which Major League Baseball has done, and they put Black Lives Matter all over the pitcher’s mounds? And it’s a Marxist organization. Everybody knows this. And they’re ignoring it. It’s not hard to find out that it’s not about civil rights. It’s not about fairness. It’s not about doing this. 

It’s a pro-Marxist, anti-American, full-fledged anti-American organization. And the fact that the people in professional sports don’t even seem to care enough to get it right, that they’re just gonna go ahead and follow whatever the erroneous conventional wisdom is, they’re in the process of dwindling their audiences down to — I don’t know what. 

A lot of people are baseball fans where I’m not, but I’ll tell you, I have heard from people who are livid over the Black Lives Matter imposed on the pitcher’s mound, people that are big baseball fans said that was it, tuning out, not watching.

Walmart's Second Amendment Treason

What is wrong with today's CEOs? They're turning into a bunch of politically correct wussies.

First, it was Dick's Sporting Goods ending sales of firearms, thereby greasing the skids for their eventual demise as gun owners are refusing to shop there.

Now, it is Walmart.

National Review posted:

Walmart announced a number of changes to its firearm-sales policy on Tuesday in response to a mass shooting that killed 20 people at one of its stores in El Paso, Texas last month. 

The company will no longer sell handgun ammunition and ammunition for short-barrel rifles, and will ask all customers to refrain from openly carrying firearms while shopping in states that allow open-carry unless law-enforcement officers are present. Walmart will also stop selling handguns in Alaska, the last remaining state where such sales are conducted. 

In a memo distributed to employees Tuesday, CEO Doug McMillon said the policy change was prompted by the El Paso massacre as well as a similar recent attacks in Dayton, Ohio and Midland and Odessa, Texas. 

“In a complex situation lacking a simple solution, we are trying to take constructive steps to reduce the risk that events like these will happen again,” he said. “The status quo is unacceptable.” 

Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, accounts for roughly 2 percent of all gun sales and 20 percent of ammunition sales. McMillon estimated in his memo that the new policy will reduce Walmart’s share of the ammunition market to between 6 and 9 percent. He also noted that the store will continue to cater to law-abiding gun owners and called on Congress to enact more stringent gun-control legislation.

They will "continue to cater to law-abiding gun owners"?! It is punishing law-abiding gun owners by removing a source for ammunition at low prices from them, thanks to the actions of a few deranged people. If anything, this will help those mom & pop gun stores that already Walmart hurt. Let's not forget that they put many small gun stores (along with other kinds of stores) out-of-business over the years.

One California gun dealer, Martin B. Retting, Inc., posted on Facebook:

Well, at least now they're being open about their anti-2A attitude. As if their capitulation wasn't enough, they appear to be more than willing to "help-out" our enemies. I guess it's good to finally know who your real friends are? 

Their treason to the 2A cause is particularly hard to swallow in light of how many local gun-stores Walmart has driven out of business. I know it's unrealistic to expect a nationwide Walmart boycott, but at least think twice before you spend any of your shooting sports budget at Wally-world.

Gillette Wants "Wussy" Men To Buy Their Razors

The attempt by some to "wussify" American men has manifested itself in a new ad by Gillette. It is called "We Believe" and the backlash has been intense.

Gillette is a division of Proctor & Gamble. Already, there is a boycott starting against all Proctor & Gamble products.

Fox News reported:

Gillette’s new commercial might not be as cutting-edge as the company had hoped. 

It’s only been a day since Gillette debuted its “We Believe” campaign aimed at combating “toxic masculinity,” and while the ad has earned plenty of praise – and even more publicity – for the brand, critics of the ad are already upset with Gillette for what some feel is an “insulting” message that assumes misogyny is rampant among their customer base. 

Others took issue with the company for using a social movement to sell razors, and suggesting that Gillette, which also markets the Venus line aimed at female customers, is being hypocritical. 

The ad, which debuted Monday, begins with “a compilation of actions commonly associated with 'toxic masculinity,'" per a press release — actions including online bullying, men laughing at misogynistic television shows, or a boss mansplaining his female colleague’s idea, among others. 

The ad then shifts and suggests that “something changed” not long ago – a reference to the #MeToo movement – and shows clips of men defending others from bullying, or stopping friends from harassing, hurtful behavior.

The lunacy of the Democrat Party sinks down to lower levels each day. Maybe it's time to consign them to the ash heap of history.

The latest comes from the Los Angeles Times, who report that the chairman of the California Democratic Party, the big lunatic himself, has called for a boycott of In-N-Out Burger. In-N-Out and Tommy's are my two favorite hamburger chains.

Will the California resistance have the stomach to do without its Double-Doubles?

The head of the California Democratic Party this week called for a boycott of the popular West Coast fast-food chain In-N-Out after a public filing revealed that the company had donated $25,000 to the state’s Republican Party.

Party Chairman Eric Bauman in a tweet Wednesday linked to a story about the contribution, wrote, “Et tu In-N-Out?” with the hashtag #BoycottInNOut.

Other Twitter users also expressed their disappointment, announcing they will no longer patronize the restaurant.

“Looks like my family and I will be boycotting your restaurants from now on. You donate to the GOP, that means you stand with Trump and all his bigotry,” one Twitter user said.

Bauman didn’t return a call Thursday morning.

In-N-Out Burger responded:

In-N-Out Executive Vice President Arnie Wensinger said in a statement Thursday that the company “made equal contributions to both Democratic and Republican” political action committees in California in 2018.

“For years, In-N-Out Burger has supported lawmakers who, regardless of political affiliation, promote policies that strengthen California and allow us to continue operating with the values of providing strong pay and great benefits for our associates,” Wensinger said. “We have been fortunate to do business in this great state for almost 70 years. While it is unfortunate that our contributions to support both political parties in California has caused concern with some groups, we believe that bipartisan support is a fair and consistent approach that best serves the interests of our company and all of our customers.”

The stupidity of the Democrats seems to know no bounds. But then, we're talking about California, aren't we?
