Biography
Handy earned his B.A. in Marine Affairs from the University of Miami in 1990. His professional experience includes working as the Sustainable Rhode Island Coordinator for The Apeiron Institute for Sustainable Living and as Director of Communications and Advocacy for the American Lung Association.[1]

The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 25, 2014. Incumbent Arthur Handy was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Donald Gendron was unopposed in the Republican primary. Handy defeated Gendron in the general election.[5][6][7]

Handy defeated William Mckenna in the September 11 Democratic primary and defeated Donald Gendron (R) and Mark Stoutzenberger (I) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[8][9][10][11]
