Euro 1994 Mercedes-Benz E500
This 1994 Mercedes-Benz E500 is a European-market example that is said to have spent time in Japan before being brought to the US in 2020 and acquired by the current owner later that year. Work since then was performed by Blue Ridge Mercedes in Lilburn, Georgia, which included rebuilding the rear differential, overhauling the suspension and brake systems, and replacing the water pump, thermostat, windshield, lower body cladding, and more as outlined below. The car is finished in silver over black leather upholstery and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 linked with a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. It rides on 17″ Evo-style wheels mounted over yellow-finished calipers and is further equipped with a self-leveling rear suspension, a sunroof, heated power-adjustable front seats, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo. This W124 E500 shows 63k kilometers (~39k miles) and is now offered at no reserve on dealer consignment with service records for work performed under current ownership, a tool kit, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Florida title in the current owner’s name.
Finished from the factory in Black Pearl Metallic (199), the car was repainted silver in April 2024. Replacement body cladding was also retrofitted under current ownership, at which time the front grille, washer fluid nozzles, headlight lenses, right side mirror adjustment motor, hood emblem, and windshield were also replaced. Details include a power sunroof, fog lights, a retractable antenna, and AMG-branded exhaust finishers.
The 17″ Evolution 2-style wheels are mounted with 245/45 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires showing 2023 date codes. The E500 featured a wider track and lower ride height when compared with other W124 models, and it shared its front disc brakes with the contemporary R129 SL. Work in April 2024 consisted of changing the power steering fluid and filter, installing Bilstein B8 shock absorbers up front, sealing the suspension tandem pump reservoir, refurbishing the brake calipers, and replacing the hydraulic fluid reservoir to pump hose, rear SLS accumulators, brake lines, front strut mounts and boots, and the brake pads and rotors.
The heated power-adjustable front bucket seats and a rear bench are upholstered in black leather and joined by wood trim that accents the dashboard, center console, and door panels. A Blaupunkt Bremen cassette stereo was fitted under current ownership, and additional work consisted of refurbishing the headliner, sunroof shade, rear sunshade mechanism, B-pillar trim, and rear amplifiers in addition to replacing the passenger front seat headrest gear, seat belt buckles, and dome light bulbs. A Gloria fire extinguisher is mounted to the front of the driver’s seat bottom.
A four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a 260-km/h speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with an inset analog clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and oil pressure. The six-digit odometer shows 63k kilometers (~39k miles), approximately 1k of which have been added under current ownership. The instrument cluster binnacle, gears, and bulbs were replaced under current ownership.
The 5.0-liter M119 DOHC V8 was factory rated at 315 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. Work in April 2024 involved changing the fluids and replacing the following components:
- Valve cover gaskets
- Camshaft seals and actuators
- Spark plugs
- Crankcase breather hoses
- Water pump & thermostat
- Coolant temperature sensor
- Lower radiator & bypass hoses
- Lower oil pan, oil pickup tube, & oil level sender seals
- Camshaft oiler tubes
- Front crankshaft seal
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a Quaife limited-slip differential. The differential mounts and transmission oil pan and filter were replaced, the LH module was tuned, and the differential was rebuilt.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage with an initial entry in May 2020.
