Excellent analysis in the article linked here -

And some comical turns of phrase as well :-)

Did you notice how it is always the user's fault when can't do anything right?

"You are using an outdated version of Teams. Please download and install..."
It's not me. It's you who can't implement self-updates for for years!

When there is a 2FA, and the only way the user has is an SMS, and the SMS is not working, because it is not working most of the time, there is a button labeled: "I can't receive it right now". I can! It's you who failed to deliver it again!

For the longest time I thought Microsoft Teams is not that bad, sure it was clunky and obtuse but functional.....

Then I was forced to update to the new version. IT SUCKS. My message are not sent, meetings disappear when I create them, and the who thing freezes.

I have been forced to use the web version of Teams to make sure my meeting invites and message get to the user.

The year is 2025. Microsoft's default method of adding a teammate to a calendar event that you do not own is *forwarding it as an email*

Below is actual footage of my multi-year battle to wrestle basic functionality out of the awful, awful software that is Outlook + Teams.

A slack post I made today.

:cat-wave: Morning, Core Squad!

I need a calendar assist from someone in Core Foundations.

Today, my calendar gets blocked off for Foundations-specific ceremonies, and I get notifications for them. I'd like that to stop.

Your task, should you choose to accept it: create duplicate events for standup + refinement ceremonies, so I can get off of those.

You are clear to create these events either within our Teams -> Teams -> Core Calendar, or just plain old Outlook events. I'd originally picked the latter because, at the time, it held the promise of being the only method of shared event ownership, allowing more than one teammate to cancel, reschedule, and make adjustments to events, thus avoiding situations like "[Redacted name 1] has departed, and to this day his events live on :zombie: in our Teams Teams calendar, e.g. tomorrow."

After experiments with [redacted name 2] (upthread), neither method was able to handle co-ownership of an event. :upside_down_face:

I . . . just don't know what to believe anymore. :face_with_spiral_eyes: (Sobs into memories of Google Calendar)

For the brave, I am including (in-thread) the ostensible steps for co-ownership of an event, now ostensibly available in Outlook AND Teams Teams calendars. Trust nothing. Believe nothing.

I'm gonna go make a coffee, and then start a blog about Microsoft's calendars. :picard-facepalm: :garfield:
