My loyalty is not to flags. It is to ordinary people who just want to live in peace, speak their own language, love whom they love, and decide their own future without someone else's tanks, missiles, or secret police.

The government of the People's Republic of China presents itself as a champion of national unity, yet its policies tell a different story.
It is a deeply Han-centric state that has spent decades suppressing the identities, languages, cultures, and autonomy of many non-Han peoples, including Tibetans, Uyghurs, Mongolians, and others. Rather than celebrating diversity, Beijing demands conformity and obedience.
China also pursues an increasingly imperialist foreign policy. It intimidates Taiwan, threatens its neighbours in the South China Sea, clashes with India along their disputed border, and uses economic coercion and diplomatic pressure against countries that refuse to follow its political line. Bullying is not a substitute for diplomacy.
Freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of association are severely restricted. Journalists, lawyers, activists, academics, and ordinary citizens can face censorship, surveillance, detention, or imprisonment simply for expressing views the government dislikes.
The mass detention of Uyghurs and other predominantly Muslim minorities in Xinjiang has been documented extensively by journalists, researchers, and human rights organizations. Many governments and experts describe these facilities as a system of arbitrary detention and, in some cases, crimes against humanity. Reports also describe forced labour, family separation, political indoctrination, and severe restrictions on religious and cultural life.
China has also been criticised for coercive "conversion" or so-called "re-education" practices targeting LGBTQ+ people. There is evidence of a network of forced conversion therapy camps specifically for queer people, LGBTQ+ communities face censorship, discrimination, pressure to conform, and the suppression of advocacy groups.
Standing with oppressed peoples is not "anti-China." It is standing for universal human rights, freedom, dignity, and the right of every people to preserve their identity without fear of persecution or forced assimilation.
