“It's not cowardice. It's pragmatism!
Viscous is a Hero in Deadlock. He is a vexing opponent with versatile goo abilities, a psychic sea anemone with an ectoplasmic goo body. He can Splatter his foes with a large ball of goo and Puddle Punch both allies and enemies to knock them around, while encasing himself or allies in a Cube of goo for protection. For maximum disruption, Viscous can morph into a large Goo Ball and bounce off of walls and enemies alike.
Viscous is a psychic sea anemone that fears a dark, dangerous predator that prowls the depths under the Bermuda Triangle. He reached the surface in a body built from ectoplasmic goo; his mission to summon the Patrons to protect his home in the Deep.
Viscous was released on August 1, 2024.
Weapon
[edit | edit source]Deep Sea Interpreter has an alternate fire mode, which releases a larger projectile that explodes in a small area of effect upon collision, or after flying for long enough. This alt-fire takes 5 ammo rounds per shot and deals 42+1.6 damage on a direct hit.The alt-fire mode can be used even with fewer than 5 rounds of ammo, and still deals its full damage.

Backstory
[edit | edit source]See Viscous/Lore for more story content.
“The Bermuda Triangle was never a myth, it was a shadowline nexus deep underneath the Atlantic Ocean. For the most part, the things that escaped this astral gate were benign (like Nessie), but now something dark and predatory known only as The Adversary hunts the seas... and ocean denizens are scared to death.
One of those inhabitants, a psychic sea anemone, wants to do something about it. Summoning an ectoplasmic goo body to traverse the surface, Viscous is desperately trying to summon the Patrons in order to keep The Deep safe from the horror that lurks below.

Trivia
[edit | edit source]- Viscous was the first new hero to be added in Deadlock after the start of the playtest.
- Viscous' current model is a modified version of Kelvin's old model from Neon Prime.
- A work-in-progress alternate model can be found in the files, labeled Viscous v2, in which he is a large man with a coral arm and an octopus-like creature in his head.
- A new model labeled Viscous_tourist, in which he wears shorts, sunglasses, an orange cap and a portable camera, has also been referenced in the files and leaked in images in June 2025. The current icon for Goo Ball shows the camera, glove and boot from this new model.
- In Neon Prime, Viscous was a pufferfish in a suit, instead of a sea anemone.
- Viscous' head was changed from black to green in the 2024-09-26 Update, because his old icon was easily confused with
Dynamo.
- "Wishing the Hideout was The Cube" is displayed as one's status in the in-game Friends List when playing as Viscous in the Hideout.
