Have a Great Day!

It is time for another Anything Goes challenge for the Mailbox Smiles CardzTV Design Team.  Here is what I made for this challenge.
My husband and I were just at the beach last weekend for our anniversary and he told me how relaxed he felt at the beach, so naturally I wanted to make a beach themed birthday card for him as his birthday is next week.

I found these tropical sunglasses in the Silhouette store and thought they would be perfect for his card. I  cut the glasses at  2.75" high which made them a little over 3.667" wide.  My patterned papers are from Bo Bunny.  My sentiment is stamped with some Versafine Onyx Black ink and is from the Simply Said stamp set.

Now it is your turn. Hope on over to the CardzTV blog and link up your anything goes project.

Let's Talk Turkey!

It's time once again for a new challenge over at CardzTV. The new challenge is "Thankful" to make a project for Thanksgiving. Here is what I came up with.

I found this cut in the Silhouette store and thought it was perfect for this challenge. The cut includes the banner that reads Eat Pie.

I started with a gold card stock base cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added the dark burnt orange mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and the orange mat cut at 3 3/4" X 5". That patterned paper mat is cut at 3 1/2" X 4 3/4" and is from a Doodlebug Autumn Paper pad. The green strip is from the same paper pad and cut at 3/4" X 4 3/4".

The turkey was cut at about 3 1/2" tall. I added googly eyes rather than using the eyes from the cut. I attached the turkey to the card with one layer of foam tape. For my Eat Pie banner I used one layer of foam tape at each end and two  layers in the middle.

My Let's talk Turkey sentiment is from the Thankful for You Cardztv Stamp Set. I embossed the sentiment with some Earthtone Paprika WOW Embossing powder.

Now if you want a chance to win one of Mary's great stamp sets, head on over to CardzTV and post your entry into the challenge. At the end of the challenge Mary will select a winner using Random.org. Hope to see you there!

You Put a Spell on Me!

It is time for a new challenge over at CardzTV and the new challenge is to make a Halloween project. This one was a fun challenge!! This is what I made for you.

My card base is black card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a lime green mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4" and then the patterned paper mat cut at 3 7/8" X 5 1/8". The patterned paper is from a DCWV Halloween Paper stack that I picked up a couple of years ago. This particular piece was embossed with a city roof scene with witches and bats flying across the sky. It was the motivation behind this card. I cut the paper so the tops of the roofs would show at the bottom of the card.

My witch image was cut from the Celebrate with Flourish Cricut Lite cartridge at 3 1/4". I cut the shadow layer out of purple, the base layer out of the lime green and top, moon layer out of orange. The witch layer was cut from a dark gray. I embossed some tiny bats on the moon with some Wow Black Glint embossing powder. I adhered the witch with some foam tape to the moon and then adhered the entire image to my card front with more foam tape. I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink using the new CardzTV Trick or Treat stamp set.

Want a chance to win a stamp of your choice from CardzTV? It's easy, just play along with us for this challenge and Mary will use Random.org to pick a winner. You will have until October 31st to enter your project.

Color's of Fall

It is time once again for a new challenge over at CardzTV. This challenge is Color's of Fall, to make a project using fall colors only, red, orange, gold brown, or purple. Here is what I came up with for you today.

I started with a piece of Kraft card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a dark rust mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". My patterned paper is from a K & Company paper pad I have had for 2 or 3 years. I cut the leaf paper at 3 3/4" X 5".

My leaf is from the A Child's Year Cricut cartridge and was cut at 3 1/4". I used the Cricut Craftroom software when I cut this leaf because I wanted a base layer of the leaf to add some stability so I used the hide contour feature and hid all the vein cut lines.  I cut the top layer out of white card stock and the base layer out of a peach colored card stock.

I used some of the Tim Holtz distress inks in various fall colors to ink my white leaf. It really gave it a realistic look and helped the veins stand out. I let my leaf dry overnight ( mainly because I ran out of time to finish it). I then used some Versamark ink and my WOW! Ultra High clear embossing powder to add two layers of the the embossing powder to my leaf front. This gave it a shiny enameled look.

I adehered the leaf to the card front with some foam tape. I added a rust colored ribbon and stamped my sentiment. My sentiment is from the Thankful for You stamp set.

Now, head on over to CardzTV to join in the challenge and for a chance to win a set of CardzTV stamps!!! While you are there be sure to check out the four new sets that are just releasing.

Love in a Jar-Cardz TV Challenge

It is time once again for a new challenge over at Cardz TV. The challenge this time is was to make a project using something you would put in a jar. This is what I came up with.

I started with white card stock, cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base. I added a black mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". My patterned paper is cut at 3 3/4" X 5". (I believe the patterned paper is from the Lawn Fawn Pink Lemonade paper pad).

Next I stamped my jars using some Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white card stock and cut them out. I used a tan marker to color the lids of my jars, and used a light cool gray to run a line along the inside of the jars to help give them the appearance of glass. I then used my Peachy Keen stamps, Snow Cuties to stamp faces on my jars and added some pink rosy cheeks. I also used the Honey stamp from the set to stamp the labels on a couple of Jars. I stamped my sentiment, Preserved With Love, on the larger label stamp on cut it out, . Finally I also stamped Happy Anniversary on the card as I gave it to my husband on our 25th Wedding Anniversary.

This is such a fun stamp set, I sure hope you will join us for the challenge.

Life a Journey...

There is a new Crafty Cardz Challenge over at Cardz TV. The challenge is to make a project that uses your favorite quote. My quote I wanted to use is Life is a Journey not the Destination.

My card base is a 5" X 7" white card stock. I added a dark blue mat cut at 4 3/4" X 6 3/4" and then added some cloud paper which is from My Minds Eye, Lime Twist cut at 4 1/2" X 6 1/2". I cut my hot air balloon at 5" from the Summer In Paris seasonal cartridge. I added some Hero Arts Ultra Fine Prisma Glitter to the white layer. I used my Zig Two Way glue pen to go over all the intricate designs on the white layer and then applied the glitter before adhering to the dark blue background layer. I printed my sentiment out with my printer using a dar blue ink color on white card stock then matted it with more of the dark blue. Finally I attached my hot air balloon with some foam tap and applied the mat with the sentiment directly to my card and added a dark blue rhinestone to each end.

I hope you will join in the challenge over at Cardz TV and let us see what your favorite quote is.

A Day Just for You

Here is a quick masculine card I made this afternoon. I have decided if I am going to use it for a Father’s Day card or a Birthday Card so I went with a bit more generic sentiment on the front.
My card base is white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4” X 4 1/4” square card. I cut a mat of dark grey 4” X 4” and then the wood grain paper is from My Minds Eye and is cut a 3 7/8” X 3 7/8”.

My image is from the Celebrate With Flourish Cricut Lite cartridge and was cut at 3 1/2”. I used my Imagine to color and cut the layers out. I added some white dots to the fish’s head, tail and the handle of the fishing rod. I also used my clear shimmer pen to add a bit of sparkle to the flourish at the end of the fish, the one on its body and in the handle of the rod. I popped the fish up off the card with some foam tape.

I am going to enter this card into the Cardz TV Design Team challenge which is to make a card or other project for a guy.

Another Birthday Card

So the majority of my family has birthdays in April and May so I have a lot of birthday cards to get made. I made this birthday card with the Cardz TV Design Team challenge in mind. The challenge is Over the Rainbow, to make a project using Pink, Green, Blue and Yellow only with limited amounts of white and black allowed.

My card base is white card stock cut and folded to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I added a dark teal blue mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". My striped paper is from SEI and is cut at 3 3/4" X 5". The stripes in the this paper are yellow, green, light and darker teal blue and pink. My flower and its layers is cut from the Garden Soup cartridge at 3". When I first got this cartridge I wasn't sure how much I would use it. All the images in the handbook are all done with such light and washed out colors that it wasn't real appealing, however, I am loving the images on the cartridge now done up in brighter colors.

The rick rack ribbon I got at Walmart and believe it not it is called rainbow. It went perfectly with my project so I added a piece to my card. I used some Turquoise chalk ink to stamp my sentiment which is from the Cardz TV birthday stamp set. I added a lime green button to the middle of my flower with some turquoise striped twine tied in a not.

I sure hope everyone is having a great day. We are finally getting some Spring/Summer type whether and I believe we hit 75 for the first time since October today. The next two days are supposed to be 80 degrees. Whoo!!

Vroom, Vroom...

The CardzTV Design Team challenge this week was to make a card for a man. This is what I came up with.

I decided to make a tall card. My card base is 4" X 9" and is from Kraft card stock. I then used some paper from the Tim Holtz Kraft  Core card stock from the Nostalgic Collection by Core'de nations. I cut the paper at 3 3/4" X 8 3/4" and ran the top 3/4 of the paper through the cuttlebug  and embossed the paper with the Tim Holtz Clock & Steampunk Set and then lightly sanded it so the kraft stock showed through. I adhered the truck to the card with some foam tape. To finish the card I had some gray nail heads that I painted with some Sea Kelp green Glimmer Glaze and stamped my sentiment from the Pink Stampers Boy Crazy stamp set with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. Thanks for visiting.
