With Sympathy

I recently learned that a friend of mine lost her oldest son in a car accident.  Here is the card I made for her.

I started with white card stock cut and folded to make a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" card base.  I cut a black mat at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8". Finally I cut another white mat at 4" X 5 1/4".  I embossed that mat with the Maltese Anna Griffin embossing folder.  It is one of my favorite embossing folders.

Next I used some distress inks, abandon coral, squeezed lemonade, and peacock feathers, to create a background of my butterfly.  Using a set of Memory Box dies I cut the background of the butterfly out of the distressed paper and cut the overlay out of black.  I used my wink of stella pen in clear to go over the entire black layer before adhering it to the front of the butterfly.  I added a black ribbon and stamped my sentiment with Memento Tuxedo black ink.  I am pleased how it turned out.

Sympathy Card

My uncle passed away on Sunday.  This is the sympathy card I made for his family.

I started with a piece of light gray card stock cut and scored to make a 4 1/4" X 5  1/2" card base.   Next I found this iron frame with the layers behind it on the Ornamental Iron 2 cartridge.  I sized it to fit the front of my card base..  I then found this dove (sorry, don't remember which cartridge) and I duplicated it and weld it to the upper and lower corners of my frame.

I designed this in Cricut Design Space and cut it with my Cricut Explore.  Once I had the layers all sized I cut them out and assembled the card.  I stamped my sentiment with some Memento Tuxedo Black ink and add the nail heads.  I used a black pen to add an eye to the birds.

With Sympathy

My cousin's husband was killed on Monday in a senseless act of violence by a disgruntled employee. He worked for Benjamin Moore Paint in Vancouver, WA. I so feel for her. This is the card I made for her.

My card is white card stock cut and scored to 4 1/4" X 5 1/2".  I added a dark purple mat cut at 4 1/8" X 5 3/8" and then my patterned paper mat cut at 4" X 5 1/4". My patterned paper is from the Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper pad.

I used Elegant Edges to cut a mat at 4". The shadow was cut out of light lavendar and the shadow was cut out of dark purple. I added some Fran tage to the dark purple mat. My butterfly was cut from a new Cottage Cutz die using my eBosser.  I sprayed the die cut with some pink glitter dust.

I adhered it to my die cut to my mat with some Glossy Accents. I then adhered the mats to my card base with some foam tape. My sentiment is stamped using a stamp from the WOW! embossing powder company and was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. To finish I add some rhinestones to help balance out the card.

I purchased my Fran-Tage and Cottage Cutz dies from Cutters Creek.

Sympathy Card

A neighbor's husband passed away on Christmas morning. This is the card I made to send her. Sympathy cards are always some of the hardest to make at least for me. I chose to keep the card very simple. I made a 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" white card. My cut is from the Silhouette store and I cut it the size it downloaded with my new Cameo. Once I adhered everything to my card front I used my clear glitter gel pen to color over the flowers, buds and leaves to give them a subtle shimmer.

Sympathy Card

I had to make a sympathy card for the wife of one our contractors at work. He was killed last weekend in a kayaking accident, he was just 31 years old. I did not know the man who died really well and have never met his wife. I decided I wanted a simple card with some elegance to it. The card will be sent out on behalf of our office. This is what I came up with. This is the 3rd sympathy card I have had to make in the last 3 months so I am hoping this trend ends soon.
