Separated at Birth Mustache Edition: Mexican Drug Cartel Boss Jose Antonio Acosta Hernandez a/k/a "El Diego" and...

Drug Cartel Boss Jose Antonio Acosta
Hernandez a/k/a "El Diego"
Obama Cabinet Member Eric Holder
a/k/a Attorney General of the United States

And it is not just mustaches that they share as a connection!  Guess what "El Diego" had when they caught him?  Fast & Furious firearms supplied by Eric Holder!

And two more U.S. Border Agents shot today.   Obama lied.  Border Agents died.

Update:  Obama Administration recommends wife of Univision boss to UN diplomatic post (hint:  Just don't trust Obama if he asks you to go to the Middle East)

Why is the Obama Administration lying about the Benghazi Libya attack? Did the Administration know more in advance than they are letting on?

Fox News sums up the situation rather well, but so far I've not seen evidence of leftists who claimed that Nakoula Besseley Nakoula's lame-ass movie caused the deaths of the Americans in Benghazi repenting. What this means is that the primary target might not have been Christopher Stevens*, but rather retired Navy SEAL Glen Doherty, who was tasked with trying to get shoulder launched anti-aircraft missiles out of the hands of militants. And it also prompts the question, "Who supplied those armaments?"
I'm not saying that the administration did. It would have been madness for them to have supplied shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missiles to rebels among whom were elements of al-Qaeda when US was engaged in enforcing a no-fly zone in Libya, in order to help those rebels get rid of Gaddafi. Still, given the variety of very obvious lies we've been fed by this administration, and given its fecklessness on other occasions, it seems to me within the realm of possibility.
Of course why the White House wants to change the topic is also that security at Benghazi was completely lacking. It was fool hardy to have that facility so lightly guarded.  Especially if Ambassador Stevens thought he might be on an al Qaeda kill list.  The weapons agents and retired SEALs Glen Doherty and Sean Smith must have thought they might be targeted too.
Today, White House liars are still telling us that the terror op in Benghazi was "opportunistic," and that none of these Muslim-world-wide demonstrations is anti-American. Well, sure it was opportunistic. The State Department neglected to give the embassy anything approaching adequate security, and al-Qaeda took advantage of the opening.
More from The Other McCain: It is not necessary for the U.S. to have directly supplied the weapons in order for the administration to be at fault for having indirectly supplied the weapons:
   1.  U.S. supports rebels.
   2.  Rebels capture weapons from Libyan military.
   3.  Rebels use captured weapons to kill Americans.

Gulag Bound is also pursuing the same line:
It should also be known and understood that communications between and among the leadership of terror networks is performed on the Internet by means of dynamic chat rooms and similar websites. The most clandestine communications are found on the sites of video games and other computer games. Here, open chatter, instruction, and planning take place under the guise and cover of gaming. Such is the case in the matter of weapons and the terror attacks we are witnessing in the Middle East.
One of the four Americans murdered in Benghazi was Sean Smith, who was known for his online gaming and social media skills. He and Ambassador Stevens, as well as the two other special operators from Wind Zero, were executing a CIA and State Department mission to track not only Qaddafi’s weapons, but to trace any and all weapons trafficking in the regions. Smith was the information officer at the Benghazi mission and likely was too close to having uncovered intelligence that pinpointed key players both in and outside of Libya. Intelligence was shared with the CIA, which does enforce the drone program, whether inside Libya, stemming from the mission to remove Qaddafi, or in other hot-spots in the Middle East.
The single Obama regime method of processing the ‘kill list’ is to use drone strikes and having proven intelligence as provided by Sean Smith and the two retired SEALS via Wind Zero connecting the dots of weapons, money, and names, led to the violent event and their deaths in Benghazi. It was never about a video. That pretense was concocted as cover and the State Department, as well as radical Muslims had their hand in disseminating that disinformation.
Smith reported this the day of the attack:  Smith, an avid gamer and married father of two, typed out a harrowing message to the friend: “assuming we don’t die tonight. We saw one of our ’police’ that guard the compound taking pictures.”  At one point, Mittani said, Smith wrote the words “f–k“ and ”gunfire,” then was disconnected.  The US is investigating whether there was inside help on the attacks.

More ties between Obama Administration and Fast and Furious...

Dennis Burke:  Former US Attorney and Obama donor who was for gun control/assault weapon ban, also ran Fast & Furious
Many in the Obama Administration really do not want us to
get those emails and communications, do they?

Secret Service shutting down protests?

Update (via Protein Wisdom):

From long-time commenter LBascom, comparing the Border Patrol and the Secret Service :
Two federal protection agencies; one protects the country’s borders, one protects the country’s temporary political representative. One is told to take a bullet if they must to do their duty. The other is told to run and hide under threat.
I find it illuminating of our ruling elite’s mind set. They have no intention of living under the conditions they mandate on the rest of us.
A tidy summation without the horrors of one of my thousand-word sentagraphs.  Nicely done.

Victor Davis Hanson has some warning to the GOP:
5. Fast and Furious. The Republicans may find themselves pursuing the moral and ethical high ground right into a political quagmire, reminiscent of once trying to convince the American people that a sitting president cannot lie under oath with impunity, even as the country sided with Bill Clinton without worry that he had been serviced in the Oval Office by his own in-house intern.
From the little that we know, Eric Holder at best knowingly presented false information to a congressional committee, and at worst also oversaw a harebrained scheme that led to several deaths (among them one and maybe two Americans) and whose ultimate objective is still unclear — and did so as the chief law enforcement officer of the nation. If that stands, in some sense we are then reduced to a banana republic. That said, the Holder mess, in the campaign sense, may divert attention from the economy, will likely not proceed to any further action against Holder or new releases of documents until after the election, and allows Holder once again to play the race card. Unless something dramatic happens, the contempt vote will either not help the Republicans or likely distract them from the economy. That is not a reason to stop now, but only a warning once more of the long road ahead.

Eric Holder, first Attorney General held in Contempt of Congress

255 voted to hold him in contempt (17 were Democrats).  Only 67 voted no.  One member voted present.  110 members did not vote.

I am surprised by the number of yes votes vs. no votes.  I cannot see Holder staying in office during this.  I could see him "volunteering" to step down to avoid distractions by partisan Republicans.  Of course he will likely get some sort of pardon if things look like they are getting bad for him and he is keeping his mouth shut (aka protecting Obama).

Eric Holder went to Disney World today?  What?  This is not exactly winning the Super Bowl.
Update:  Instapundit also notices...

What do you get when you cross Jimmy Carter with Richard Nixon?

A combination of Jimmy Carter's smugness and incompetency with Richard Nixon's paranoia and out of control staff.  What could go wrong?
Representative Darrell Issa's letter to Barack Obama:
Courts have consistently held that the assertion of the constitutionally-based executive
privilege — the only privilege that ever can justify the withholding of documents from a
congressional committee by the Executive Branch — is only applicable with respect to
documents and communications that implicate the confidentiality of the President’s decisionmaking process, defined as those documents and communications to and from the President and his most senior advisors.  Even then, it is a qualified privilege that is overcome by a showing of the committee’s need for the documents.  The letters from Messrs. Holder and Cole cited no case law to the contrary.
Accordingly, your privilege assertion means one of two things.  Either you or your most
senior advisors were involved in managing Operation Fast & Furious and the fallout from it,
including the false February 4, 2011 letter provided by the Attorney General to the Committee,
or, you are asserting a Presidential power that you know to be unjustified solely for the purpose
of further obstructing a congressional investigation...
As they say, read the whole thing...

The Obama White House responds to Fast and Furious

What is in those Fast and Furious documents that Barack Obama and Eric Holder are holding back?

My friend Bill Otis was a Justice Department lawyer for many years. He spent a good portion of those years as a prosecutor. He also served as an attorney in the White House Counsel’s shop, so he knows all about dealing with unpleasant congressional inventigations and demands for documents.
In short, Bill is extremely very well positioned to comment knowledgably on the dispute between Rep. Issa’s Committee and Eric Holder, and on the White House’s decision to assert executive privilege. Here is what Bill had to say:
Even with his fawning press, [Presdient Obama] will pay a price for this one. He knows this, meaning that the documents now to be withheld must be dynamite. They have to show either that Holder knew what was going on with Fast and Furious and approved it, or that he directly committed perjury in his Congressional testimony, or both. I just can’t see any other explanation for such a risky move.
Wasn’t the Washington Post just covering big time the 40th anniversary of Watergate? I wonder how much coverage this one will get.
UPDATE: Some have speculated that Obama’s intervention means that the president himself has something to hide.
As Fred Thompson once asked:  "What did the President know, and when did he know it?"

behind executive privilege
Now this is news that cannot be ignored.  Fast & Furious was a program to allow guns bought in the USA to be "walked" into Mexico (specifically to Mexican drug cartels).  This resulted in scores of Mexicans being killed and the death of one U.S. border agent.  It is suspected the motive for this by the Obama Administration was to build public support for gun control in the United States.   Eric Holder's unbelievable explanations will be looked at.

Rush is on fire over this today.  And I liked this opening line to his show today:  "You have to know when to fold them, know when to Holder them..."

Update:  Victor Davis Hanson nails the hypocrisy of this "executive privilege" assertion (beyond the hypocrisy of saying he would not invoke executive privilege when he was running for President):
Would that the Obama administration had cared as much about protecting the security secrets involving the Predator drone program, the bin Laden raid, the operations on the Afghan border and in Yemen, and the cyberwar against Iran as it is does about protecting the unknowns of Fast and Furious. A cynic might suggest the leaked release of national-security secrets were thought to have enhanced presidential stature, while those of gunrunning might diminish it; so we are left with vital national-security operations now known to all, and peripheral operations along the border known not even to Congress.
Update (the hypocrisy of Barack Obama):

Update:  Representative Trey Gowdy calls Barack Obama on it.

U.S. House to hold a vote on holding Eric Holder in contempt of Congress...

There is a lot to hold Eric Holder in contempt for...
From CBS News Political Hotsheet:
CBS News has learned the House Oversight Committee will vote next week on whether to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. It's the fourth time in 30 years that Congress has launched a contempt action against an executive branch member.
This time, the dispute stems from Holder failing to turn over documents subpoenaed on October 12, 2011 in the Fast and Furious "gunwalking" investigation.
And the current Obama White House leaks are way bigger than the Valerie Plame leaks...

Update:

Separated at Birth: Eric Holder and...?

A younger Eric Holder
Pretending now to be upholding the Constitution
A younger Ron Glass
Pretending then to be a cop

This Separated at Birth is not entirely fair, because I like Ron Glass and consider him a very good actor and I should not link him to Eric Holder.
But kudos to windbag for thinking this one up.
