Riley was removed from Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals as a precaution after being hit by a pitch on the right hand. The hit-by-pitch was a scary moment for Atlanta and Riley, who sustained a fracture in the same hand during August that cost him the rest of the 2024 season. It's encouraging that the organization labeled his exit as a precaution, but it's worth keeping an eye on the third baseman's status over the next couple days to see if he requires medical imaging.

José Ramírez: Might move up to two hole

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt indicated Friday that he's leaning toward batting Ramirez second this season, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. Ramirez has spent the overwhelming majority of his career batting third, including in 2024 when 152 of his 158 starts were from the three hole. However, Vogt likes the idea of Ramirez hitting second, as it offers his best hitter more plate appearances and more RBI opportunities. It's not yet clear who will bat third for the Guardians if Ramirez is indeed in the No. 2 spot, but Kyle Manzardo, Carlos Santana and Lane Thomas have all see starts there of late in spring training.

Bryce Harper: Willing to move back to OF if asked

Harper said recently that he would be willing to move back to right field if the Phillies were able to acquire an impact first baseman at the trade deadline, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports. It was reported in The Athletic recently that Harper told the Phillies over the offseason he would be open to shifting to the outfield if the club could acquire a marquee first baseman. That never came close to happening, but the offer from Harper remains on the table, should an opportunity present itself at the trade deadline. Harper has turned himself into an excellent defensive first baseman and will, in all likelihood, remain at that position over the long haul, but having the flexibility and willingness to move back to right field could come in handy.

Luis Rengifo: Enough time to prep for Opening Day

Angels manager Ron Washington said Friday that Rengifo (hamstring) should have enough time to get ready for Opening Day, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Rengifo is back in the Cactus League lineup Friday after dealing with a recent hamstring issue. He was also initially slow-played at the start of camp following last August's wrist surgery, as Friday's game will be just his second this spring. However, as long as he doesn't experience any setbacks, Rengifo is expected to be ready to play March 27 versus the White Sox.

Philipp Grubauer: Tending twine Friday

Grubauer will be between the pipes versus Utah on Friday, Kate Shefte of The Seattle Times reports. Grubauer returned to the win column Saturday for the first time since Dec. 30, stopping 23 shots in a 4-1 victory over Philadelphia. Grubauer spent a month in the minors in February after he was waived by the Kraken, and he returned with a flourish with Saturday's win. He is 6-15-1 with a 3.69 GAA and an .870 save percentage across 22 NHL appearances this season. Utah is averaging 2.83 goals per game in 2024-25, 21st in the NHL.

Marat Khusnutdinov: Scores for first point with Boston

Khusnutdinov scored a goal and added two hits in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Senators. Khusnutdinov saw 17:18 of ice time in the loss, his second-highest total in any game this season. The 22-year-old's high-energy playing style is already endearing him to a workmanlike Bruins team, and it's possible he sees top-six minutes in Boston that just simply weren't in consideration for him in Minnesota. For the season, he's at three goals, eight points, 31 shots on net, 44 hits, 40 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 60 appearances. Khusnutdinov will need to show a steadier scoring pace to be an option in most fantasy formats.

David Pastrnak: Secures point-per-game pace

Pastrnak scored a goal on two shots, added two PIM, logged two hits and went minus-2 in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Senators. Pastrnak extended his point streak to five games (two goals, five assists) with his second-period tally. The 28-year-old is up to 34 goals and 82 points on the season, securing a point-per-game pace for the seventh year in a row. He's added 279 shots on net, 46 hits, 34 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 67 appearances. With 15 contests left on the Bruins' schedule, Pastrnak is on pace to exceed the 100-point mark for the third season in a row. Even a poor campaign for his team has done little to slow down one of the best wingers in the league.

Nikolas Matinpalo: Garners rare helper

Matinpalo notched an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Bruins. Matinpalo has played in 12 of 14 games since the start of February, but this was his first point of the season. The 26-year-old blueliner is holding down a third-pairing spot while Travis Hamonic (lower body) is out. Matinpalo's spot in the lineup is not secure -- Dennis Gilbert could be put in his place to add a bit more thump in a rivalry game. For the season, Matinpalo has 33 shots on net, 13 hits, 17 blocked shots, 12 PIM and an even plus-minus rating over 26 appearances. He offers too little in every area to be a good option for fantasy managers.

Stuart Skinner: Allows three goals Thursday

Skinner stopped 19 of 22 shots in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Devils. Skinner didn't look good in this game against a Devils team that was shorthanded due to the absence of key elements such as Dougie Hamilton (lower body) and Jack Hughes (shoulder). Still, the struggles are becoming a worrisome trend for the 26-year-old goaltender. He's gone 2-5-0 with a 3.77 GAA and an .868 save percentage over his last nine outings, but perhaps the most worrying aspect of that stretch is he's posted a save percentage of .900 or higher just once over that nine-game stretch.
