Arnette signed a one-year contract with Houston on Wednesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Arnette has had a tumultuous NFL career since being selected by the Raiders in the first round of the 2020 Draft, with his last regular-season appearance having been back in 2021. He served a three-game suspension as a free agent in 2023. Most recently, Arnette played for the Houston Roughnecks in the last season of the UFL. In the wake of Ronald Darby's retirement, Arnette may be facing a real chance to compete for a roster spot in training camp.

Stroud (shoulder) is throwing at the start of mandatory minicamp Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Stroud is on the field for the start of 7-on-7 drills with the first-team offense, per Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle, and a video recorded by Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston shows the third-year quarterback participating in padded throwing drills without any apparent discomfort. Coach DeMeco Ryans consistently downplayed Stroud's right shoulder soreness during voluntary OTAs, saying he had "no concerns," and the 2023 first-round pick is indeed now ready to resume building chemistry with a new wide receiver corps that adds veteran Christian Kirk and rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel behind No. 1 option Nico Collins.
Chubb and the Texans officially agreed to a one-year contract Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Chubb's 2023 campaign was cut short by ACL, MCL and meniscus tears in his left knee, and upon his return Week 7 of last season, he topped out at 59 rushing yards among his eight appearances before suffering a fracture in his left foot Week 15, ending the year on injured reserve. Prior to those injuries, he had put together four straight 1,000-yard seasons on the ground for the Browns, but with Joe Mixon (lower body) entrenched as Houston's top running back for 2025, Chubb likely will be relegated to a complementary role while potentially competing for reps with Dameon Pierce and rookie fourth-rounder Woody Marks, considering Chubb's deal has a base salary of $2.5 million.
The Texans plan to sign Chubb on Monday pending a successful physical, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Chubb suffered a season-ending foot fracture in mid-December, and he became a free agent after his contract with the Browns officially expired in March. The 29-year-old did not undergo surgery this offseason, so Monday's physical will provide some important clarity as the Texans look to bolster their rushing game. Chubb also missed the first six games last season while recovering from a torn left ACL suffered in September of 2023. The four-time Pro Bowler's production plummeted last season with the least efficient campaign of his career, logging 102 carries for 332 yards and three touchdowns. He's now set to join a running back room headlined by another notable veteran in Joe Mixon, who tallied 245 carries for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns during his first season in Houston last year. The Texans have last year's No. 2 running back, Dameon Pierce, along with rookie fourth-rounder Woody Marks, still on the roster as well. Given the wear and tear Chubb has sustained over the last couple of years, and pending a successful physical, he'll likely vie with Pierce for a role as the primary backup behind Mixon this coming season.
Hill (hamstring) has been taking part in Houston's offseason training activities, per the Bluefield Daily Telegraph. Hill is a 2024 sixth-round draft pick of the Texans who logged 125 snaps, all on special teams, over eight regular-season games last year. The linebacker landed on IR just before Houston's regular-season finale but appears to be back to health given his participation in OTAs.
Thomas (undisclosed) has been taking part in Houston's offseason training activities, Aaron Wilson of Sports Talk 790 reports. Thomas didn't play at all last season, as he landed on IR prior to the start of the campaign due to an undisclosed issue. The SMU product has been working with the Texans' second-team offensive line during OTAs, per Wilson, so he appears to now be healthy. Thomas has played just three offensive snaps as a pro (in 2023 with the Giants) but is trying to land a spot on Houston's roster.
Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said Tuesday that Harris (calf) is expected back for training camp, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Harris suffered a calf injury last summer and missed Houston's first 13 games of the 2024 season. He was able to return for Week 15 and also played in both of the Texans' postseason contests. However, the linebacker still isn't healthy, though it does sound like the team expects Harris to be ready ahead of Week 1. Harris is the Texans' top backup linebacker behind starters Henry To'oTo'o and Azeez Al-Shaair.
Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Tuesday that Stroud is dealing with "general soreness" related to his right throwing shoulder, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports. Stroud was kept from throwing early at voluntary OTAs due to what was initially called a minor pectoral injury, but Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston now reports the third-year quarterback is dealing with muscle tightness in his throwing shoulder. Still, Ryans repeated that there are "no concerns" with Stroud, per Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com, and that the team is "taking extra precaution with him, but he'll be good to go." Stroud still has ample time, roughly a month and a half, to get fully healthy for the start of training camp. The most notable consequence of his current absence from practice is missing early opportunities to build chemistry with new wideouts Christian Kirk, Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, but the majority of such reps will be taken during training camp and the preseason. At that stage, Stroud will also face the challenge of adapting to a new-look offensive line that may take a step backwards, even after struggling in 2024, due to the trade of Laremy Tunsil to Washington.
