Odunze said at the final day of mandatory minicamp Thursday that his goal for the 2025 regular season is to compile at least 1,000 receiving yards and double-digit touchdowns, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun Times reports. Odunze's expectations for 2025 would be an enormous step forward from the 54-734-3 receiving line he tallied on 101 targets across 17 regular-season appearances as a rookie, but enough went wrong for Chicago in 2024 that a true evaluation of last year's No. 9 overall pick is difficult to make. Unreliable pass protection, inconsistency from Caleb Williams and coaching so poor that the Bears deployed three different offensive coordinators all stood in the way of Odunze's production, but the team has since upgraded to head coach Ben Johnson, previously the Lions' mastermind OC, and added three new starters along the interior O-line, including All-Pro LG Joe Thuney. While the departure of Keenan Allen still leaves Odunze with significant target competition from DJ Moore, first-round rookie TE Colston Loveland (shoulder) and second-round rookie WR Luther Burden (undisclosed), overall, fantasy managers couldn't have asked for better offseason developments as the talented wideout targets a significant step forward.

Latest Bears News
Rome Odunze : Anticipates Year 2 leap
Ian Wheeler : Present for OTAs
Wheeler (knee) is participating in OTAs. The running back signed with the Bears in May of 2024 as an undrafted free agent before landing on IR with a knee injury in late August. Wheeler spent the entire 2024 campaign on injured reserve. Now, though, he might have a chance to compete for a depth role in Chicago's backfield.
Jaylon Johnson : Participating in OTAs
Johnson (quadriceps) is participating in OTAs, Patrick Finley of The Chicago Sun Times reports. The cornerback suffered the quad injury in the third quarter of Chicago's season finale in January against Green Bay. The 2020 second-round pick of the Bears signed a four-year, $76-million extension with the team in March of 2024, and he has started all 70 games he's played in during his pro career. He was a Second Team All-Pro in 2023 when he finished with 10 pass breakups, including four interceptions, and a forced fumble.
Jaquan Brisker : Taking part in OTAs
Brisker (concussion) has been participating in Bears' OTAs this week, Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network reports. Brisker missed a total of 12 contests last season due to concussion issues, but he appears to be back to full health, as Bair noted Brisker was flying around and "talking serious trash" at Wednesday's practice. Getting Brisker back to his normal self will be a big boost to Chicago's defense.
D'Andre Swift : Eyeing bounce-back season
Swift said Tuesday at mandatory minicamp that he's "being very critical about how I played last year" and is "excited about this year" under new head coach Ben Johnson, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun Times reports. The first season of Swift's three-year, $24 million deal with the Bears disappointed compared to expectations, as he finished with just 959 rushing yards and six touchdowns despite playing all 17 regular-season games and handling a career-high 253 carries. He averaged just 3.8 YPC in 2024 after having combined for 4.6 YPC across the first four years of his NFL career. As such, it was somewhat surprising to see Chicago fail to add notable backfield competition in free agency or the 2025 NFL Draft. Rookie seventh-round pick Kyle Monangai joins Roschon Johnson as a depth option, but Swift seems destined to reprise a starting role. With the benefit of a much-improved O-line and Johnson's promising offensive scheme, Swift will be in tremendous position to improve upon his 2024 stats if he sees a similar amount of opportunities. Johnson, who was Swift's offensive coordinator during his final season in Detroit in 2022, called the running back a "fierce competitor" and praised his willingness to "find a way to put his shoulder down and move the pile."
DJ Moore : Embracing new coaching culture
Bears head coach Ben Johnson said Tuesday that Moore "has been a guy that's highly motivated" during voluntary OTAs, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun Times reports. "[Moore] wants to be as complete of a receiver as he can possibly be, and he's willing to do whatever it takes to get there," Johnson said. The wide receiver's poor body language last season was also addressed by Johnson, who said at the start of OTAs that the offseason will be "all about educating" Chicago's players about new team culture expectations. Moore said Tuesday that his body language was brought up once this offseason, but that "we nipped it in the bud and it never happened again." Entering his second season with Caleb Williams under center, the departure of Keenan Allen in free agency leaves Moore as the clear leader among the Bears' pass-catching corps, and he remains entrenched as the team's No. 1 wideout. Chicago's O-line upgrades and Johnson's track record in Detroit both point to a much improved offense for 2025, but Moore faces considerable target competition from last year's No. 9 overall pick Rome Odunze, rookie second-rounder Luther Burden (undisclosed) and tight end Colston Loveland (shoulder), the 10th overall selection of the 2025 draft. Moore tallied a career-high 98 catches across 17 regular-season games with Williams in 2024, though he took a step backward from his breakout 2023 campaign in terms of yards (966 vs. 1,364) and touchdowns (six vs. eight).
Caleb Williams : Participates in OTAs
Williams has been participating in the Bears' ongoing organized team activities, Alyssa Barbieri of USA Today reports. Back in January, Courtney Cronin of ESPN reported that Williams was spotted with a cast on his right wrist while attending a USC-Wisconsin men's basketball game after undergoing a minor offseason elective procedure to remove a cyst. Since then, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft has moved past the issue and appears to be practicing without limitations. As a rookie, Williams threw for 3,541 yards, with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions in 17 games, to go along with 81 carries for 489 yards. In his second season as a pro, it's reasonable to expect improvements from the USC product, with a new offensive-minded head coach at the helm, as well as a re-tooled offensive line on hand and a pair of promising young playmakers (TE Colston Loveland and WR Luther Burden) having been added to the mix via the draft.
T.J. Edwards : Sidelined with injury
Edwards (lower body) is currently dealing with a soft tissue injury, Scott Bair of Marquee Sports Network reports. Edwards just signed an extension with the team last month after racking up 129 tackles (79 solo), with 4.0 sacks, and an interception in 17 games during the 2024 campaign but is now dealing with an injury. He has yet to miss a game since signing with the Bears in 2023 and will once again serve as the team's starting middle linebacker should he be healthy for their Week 1 matchup versus the Vikings in September.
