I always liked arithmetics in school! Nice game, short and simple, and art is kinda creepy, when you know that it's a cosmic horror approaching you! Well done!
Thank you for the feedback! You are the first person who mentions they like math! I'm glad it was still creepy though <3 Thanks for playing
Super creative idea and pretty well thought through as well! Love the visual style and how intentionally stressful everything feels. There's something hilarious and fun about having to do fast math in order to fight off eldritch monsters. Would have loved to see stuff like this when I was younger, certainly a much more fun way to learn times tables and whatnot! This feels like this would belong right in an arcade. Would be neat to see it expanded on--maybe some sort of story sequence with set stages/enemies, or a PVP style match doing math against someone else. I feel like people would get a kick out of that. Not to many notes from me for improvement--it is a little overstimulating, so the disabled feature option was super helpful. Had a lot of fun, can't believe you made me enjoy doing math! Good job!
Thanks! You get it quite well! The stress was intentional and balanced to get harder as the game progresses through the 5 minute duration. I Wanted those effects to show since the drone is going towards a singularity and essentially destroyed when reaching it's destination. I do like the idea of a pvp, and will consider that as it would bring a whole new dimension I didn't really consider. Besides online leaderboards and more player guidance, I think that is one of the best ideas to really push the game to a new level. Adding more would be great too for the variety . Like various singularities these research drones could investigate. Thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated, and thanks for playing!
Woah, cool concept, awesome UI, I didn't switch operators for a while until I realized it was required. Thank you!
Thank you for playing! I will definitely be updating in the future with some more direction for the player. I appreciate the feedback and thanks again!
I tried playing with all the effects on, but there was too much visual noise. Once I turned them off, the experience was much smoother. It's interesting, and it's the kind of game where if the leaderboard were online, a ton of people would get hooked. That's the only thing I would change. Great idea!
Thank you for the feedback. It is invaluable to me. Online leaderboards is absolutely something I would love to have, although in the time frame of the game jam, was a technical hurdle I was not prepared to handle on my own. But I plan on implementing it, and your feedback is critical to my putting that feature at the top of the list of things to work on post game jam. I have a few ideas on smoothing out the experience too. Thank you so much again for the feedback and thanks for playing.
This is a really interesting and fun little design that i think is a genuinely useful tool for training quick math. The only major critique i would have is the game has too much visual and audial noise, making it confusing for the player, on my first run though i didn't even notice that i was supposed to use specific functions for each entity i was fighting.
You've got something here! great job c:
I was fortunate enough to catch you streaming my game on Twitch; followed! It was a pleasure watching you play, as I was the only tester during the week of development. To answer your question, it is 2D, simulated 3D artwork; I used color theory to ensure contrast in the layouts and sprite sheets. Your feedback is invaluable, as seeing firsthand how the game is perceived allows me to prioritize future updates. Thanks again!
I was not expecting an uterus to be an enemy but here we are. Good job with the game.
Hello and thanks for playing. Yup! Leaning hard into the "Strange" aspect of the theme. Raising that bar,! 2026 here we are lol
The graphics are great, and I had a lot of fun playing this despite being stressed out the entire time lol. It kinda reminds me of a much better made version of those math practice games I liked as a kid. I think it could use some more instructions at the beginning so the player has a better idea of what to do before they're thrown into the ultimate horror of doing math on a time limit, but overall this was really good!
Thanks for the feedback! I think after The Eye Jam II judgement period I could add an update with some popups to help players get on track without being intrusive to the experience. In the meantime I did post a video on the listing page to help everyone out! Thanks again, and thanks for playing!
Math is already stressful so you chose an amazing topic for this game. Didn't realise I really couldn't handle subtraction... Great art, great audio and super fun gameplay, amazing work with this one!
Thank you for playing! I'll tell you one positive thing I experienced by testing this game over and over again was that I improved on some of my weaknesses. Nothing like decaying into oblivion to motivate you!
So... are you telling me that the real horror is math? I KNEW IT! I KNEW IT!
That was a fun experience that I enjoyed so much.
Yep, math! I'm thinking the only way to top this is is to force the player to wake up early to do math. =) Thanks so much for playing.
Scariest math problems of my life, when the boss hit me with a 66-19 i almost lost it!
Haha! Yeah, it reveals things you might not have known. I myself found that I have problems with problems that have the number 7 in them. =)
STRESSED ME OUT CRAZY HOLY MOLY
That is a great complement! Thank you!
I can't believe you made me do math.
I had to make the game scary lol.
Graphic is very nice, loved the effects. I also like the sound added some tension. I was at the beginning a bit overwhelmed and confused. Next, I need to read what to do before ๐
Thanks for the feedback! In the future I think I will add some prompts to indicate to the players what needs to get done. I'm glad the audio was a point of tension. As a musician and sound engineer, I am glad to hear that I succeeded in that . Thank you for playing!
Cool game! Where was this when I was learning math?
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it! As a homeschool teacher it's good to hear that. Thanks again!
Neat idea. The graphics were definitely compelling, it felt very lucid and Lovecraftian. Good atmosphere, I would have liked to see the vessel fall apart more, I felt very in control and safe despite the visuals and audio telling me otherwise. But really awesome work!
Thanks for the feedback. That's a great idea! In a future iteration I could increase the damage by having parts fly off and exposing space further. Thank you!
really hard to read the text, directions unclear and the ai generated background is ruining the overall look
Thank you for the feedback. I leaned hard on the mystery/sci-fi vibe by not adding a tutorial up-front, but tutorials aren't for everyone. There is a "How to Play" section in the Details menu accessible in the Main Menu and also via the Pause Menu. I agree with the font, it's small, but I'll simply increase the font size I've got right after the Game Jam judgement window since I do like the style. For the background, I suspect you mean the HUD? since the background is procedurally generated, not necessarily AI art as one would traditionally think it to be. I do plan on cleaning the HUD up in future iterations, but more-so balancing out where things go. As my first game-jam as a solo-dev I put my efforts in hitting the theme of decay and mysterious by having the entire HUD decay if you let your systems decay by not answering the math problems presented, and keeping the enemy viewport focused on the horror that comes from the singularity. Thanks again!
