News: Studio Move Information 2019

by Roman aka jar

Hi everyone,

this year, 2019 is quite the weird and confusing year for me, mainly because of the studio move, that is just not happening. I want to thank everyone who offered their support so far in helping to move. Sadly I can not tell you a date. The situation right now is the following:
  • the new rooms are not ready yet, everything is construction site or even less
  • no date has been set for the move. We can move, when the new rooms are ready
  • actual we are not renting the place from the Kulturpark West anymore. New contracts have been made with the city of Augsburg. Strange situation.
  • the only promise we got is that we will not be kicked out on the streets! Yay!

It is what it is, right!
To a recommandation of some friends I make my mind up and speak about this frustrating situation.
The studio is no place anymore I feel very happy being at. I feel good when I am not alone there, with students of a weekend class or private coaching. Still I find it hard to connect back with the good old times. Due vandalism in the hallways and tons of garbage outside it looks very postapocalyptic. Not many people are left in these buildings and being there feels like you are the only troll left living under a roof that should be burned.

On the horizon there is the promise for new rooms for many artists of the culture park, but it goes much slower than expected and nobody is really to blaim nor does it make any difference. I was trying to cope the time until the move with spending much time on the outside as the studio vibe and the loneliness there made me feel depressive (deep rest). It felt so strange sitting there, knowing to pack all your stuff when the call of a date occours. I was creativilly blocked. Here the summer felt much better:

To get rid of these emotions I tried to run away and did welcome every visitor ... distraction.

... and there comes the point where you can not hold still anymore, where you encountered all insects in your hemisphere and studied them. The point where your inner frustration can not stand still anymore and trying to be a calm buddha-like person does not work out anymore. At least emotions are back. It does not mean I smashed these insects. I still find calm and relaxation with and in nature and I am grateful that I can.

Sometimes it feels that I and the world have forgotten why MV exists and what I personally see as its purpose. It's purpose is a free access to everyone in sharing ideas, tutorials and ways of teaching. Of course it is something that deeply connects to my self-employment job. I work on seperating my job as an artist from MV as good as I can via www.romanlappat.com

The studio used to be the heart of Massive Voodoo.
It was carried by  the friendship of several friends there. Time that was spent together, shared with the joy of painting. It still happens once in a while, but it is not a regular thing anymore. It needs that new start, that freshness. Right now it is a cave inside a mad place that just is not fun anymore. The heart of the jungle is in pain. It is time to say goodbye to it and build up a new and fresh soulfilled place. Of course saying goodbye to such a place is painful and this is what goodbyes in life can bring, but being on hold with this feeling is just ... no words for it.

The good thing is I am not alone in the studio. I do share it with Johannes from Munich, who drops by once in a while and we share cool painting days together when he is free from his regular job. During these days you can hear the studio heart beating again. They are rare, but precious.

Of course I am checking other options.
Renting another place for example, but it is hard to find anything. Even thought about moving the studio home into my appartment, but I know that I would not like this for long. Recently I have meet some cool people who are in the same boat as I am and we might gang up to find something else with a larger group of people: A photographer and a Studio of graphic design, but this is all on the horizon.

Instead of running from it I decided to go there more often now.
It is still alive and it deserves a better end and goodbye instead just abanding it and waiting til its death. This decision feels good, filled with less frustration, but therefor a little healthy ange :)

In the meantime I am still working on my skills as a nature autist ...
but at least I paint again :)

- Roman

Interview: Galaktischer Beobachter

I got invited to a podcast interview from "Galaktischer Beobachter".

The interview was a relaxed evening with some glass of wine and good chats. It is only available in german, sorryio - enjoy!

Massive Voodoo News

by Roman aka jar

Heyho MV readers,

wow, what a year 2018 has been so far.
Many things in private life happened, but not only for me, also for everyone else of the Massive Voodoo Team. Active members, inactive members and also in the lifes of all our readers.

Many things just happen, you can not paint yourself away from it. A lesson learned this year as I usually just went painting when things happened in the past.

When you read these lines you will see my write as "we" and as "I". "I" means it is just my word, "we" means I do speak for the full MV Team.

First of all,
I want to thank everyone reading and supporting the MV blog, fresh and veteran readers. Thank you for your loyalty and continous support in what we do in here. I do speak in the name of the full MV Team.

We all know that life goes on.
In our age Tupac told us. Just keep your head up, eh?

Life can bring many changes and it does the older you grow as more days on this planet mean more things sum up in your life. Good things, bad things, changes, time used wisely, time used wrong, heartaches and happy joyful feelings and much more. Life gives you all of it. Most of the time we are all not prepared for it. And then changes happen with being out of control of situations. And that is another lesson learned: let it happen and go with the changes instead of fighting against them. It is called "flow" and you can imagine it like a river. It flows in a direction. It does not change the direction of the flow as what is behind is what the water masses already passed. Flow.

MV Studio Change
As we change and grow as humans we learn about the flow, we learn to accept changes.
One of these changes is that the so far known Massive Voodoo Studio will no longer exist. We will move places. All efforts to keep the Kulturpark in place did not work out in the end and the three buildings will be torn down in September 2019.

Luckily this does not mean that the Kulturpark dies.
It is even bigger now as several units of buildings will spread over the town and will host even more artists and musicians than before. We will still be a part of it. Actual plans are to move the beloved studio to its new location around April/May 2019. Right now we are waiting for more precise information. Thanks so far to all the people offering their help for the move. You are just too great, be sure I get back to you when I know more.

Another change on the horizon is that Peter and Raffa
of the MV Team decided that being a highly active part in the studio does not make much sense for them with all the changes life brought for them. Of course the studio costs rent and both are enjoying the miniature hobby as a hobby. Beside family, kids, new friends, new hobbies and new jobs there is not much time left for studio painting time. We sat together like a gang of monkeys and planned things through and the studio will see changes, too. One painter from Munich, Johannes, is already confirmed to have a full seat in the MV studio, starting in December. Plan is to find another artist for a third spot and we are actually working on it. We will have updates on this for you as soon as they are available.

A little word from Raffa
Hey everyone! Roman's words describe the situation spot on.
Discovering the world together with my little girl and working in a new job*, there's little time left for hobbies - and spending time in the studio seems like a nearly impossible task.
My life has changed so much, it's almost unbelievable.
Creative energies are still flowing to other areas of interest, making music, video stuff, physical computing projects and the like.
But another thing has changed from the end of my "professional miniature painting" career and the start of a normal job:
I don't feel the need to share my creations (social media) neither do I feel a big need of finishing things (especially music tracks). I just do things for myself as long as I enjoy them, without any pressure. Enjoying the moment and the creation itsself.
Sometimes I get the urge to paint minis, but honestly, it's not very easy for me... I come home late and at the weekends it's family time and not "dissappear into the studio" time ;)

Anyway - It's a part of me that I hold dear and I am sure there will come other times.
I want to move certain things from the studio to my home so it's easier to do that "one hour of painting".

So much from my side :)

* I am now the Creative Director in a multi media company creating mostly video contents and digital signage communication strategies with my team for big retail clients.

The new studio will be bigger
to provide more space for teaching seminars. A good and healthy change.

MV Team Changes
We also have exciting news ahead of us as the active MV Team grows stronger soon. Stay tuned in!

MV Seminar News 2019

by Roman aka jar

Good Morning Jungle,

many people are asking me at the moment about seminar dates in 2019
via mails, messages here and there. I can not answer them all,
this is why I inform you here.

Thank you all for your messages,
they are recieved with thanks! It is beautiful to see so many painters interested
in my hands on teaching curriculum.

Of course,
I got news for you.

Right now I am working on the roadmap for 2019.
There are still some classes and workshops incoming in the end of 2018,
 check the roadmap of 2018.
Not many spots left, but write an email to me and we shall find a solution,
if you still want to join up.

This year was a big change for me :)
As many of you know I decided to stop travelling for all my painting classes to recover from a "travel burnout". Augsburg, my hometown provided a great base for it so far and I want to thank every single person who travelled from close and far to learn from me. Really, I do not find proper words of gratitude.

Teaching many students this year so far without travelling showed me one thing this year: I am a better teacher, if I am not stressed out from travelling and carrying stuff like a mule. It was amazing to see a lot of new faces in my courses and amazing to follow the developement of long time students. This really made me proud and happy.

So far, in 2018 my focus was on teaching.
I did not paint much for myself. I still will finish one or two projects until the end of the year, but it was also healthy for my creative winds to rest after some two or three years of intense creative output.

I really like the studio to teach smaller groups and one and one coachings as everything is at hand and we got some great atmosphere there. I really enjoy teaching larger groups in the school I used to learn how to become a teacher. Such a great place. I really do have wonderful memories on teaching this year. Thanks to all of you, who participated.

SEMINAR NEWS 2019
Good and bad news.

  • Bad news first:
I will not travel much as many things are ahead of me as a self.employed. For example, the MV studio will see some personal changes and also will move to another place around May. Lots to organise and muscle power. I will only teach private coachings until the end of February. I am already planning these.
  • Good News now:
I will announce seminar information for the first half year of 2019 at the end of 2018. As it looks from organisationl aspects in the middle of december. Stay tuned for the new roadmap.

I will also start travelling again for teaching
Slowly. I will not travel randomly to many locations like I did in the past as this was just too exhausting on the long run. My plan is to decide for a certain month or two in the year and make a small seminar tour, for example a tour in Europe, Canada, Australia, Asia, maybe even the US, but I am happy with teaching there at the NOVA Open only and exclusive this far. This is the plan. Many thanks to all of you who are still asking me to come and teach and thanks for your patience. With age I learned that I have to put my own health first, to provide my happy painting teaching service from the heart to others. I think it is a good decision and I am looking forward to the next years.

    Augsburg will see different teachers
With Alfonso Giraldes aka Banshee incoming today to teach one of his classes in my hometown it is a good day to tell you that it was recieved with high interest. My plan is to bring different teachers to my hometown and I am already speaking to some, not only in painting, but also sculpting. Stay tuned, this will also be announced here in the jungle :)

So far from the heart of the jungle,
there will be more news soon!

I am looking forward to see you on the seminar road in 2019!

Keep on happy painting!

Will Massive Voodoo die?

by Roman aka jar

Hello Jungle,

well, well, well ...

The answer is simple: no!

Will it change?

Yes.

Why?
The jungle seems a little empty these days and still a little noise is made here and there. Not by many monkeys these days as life keeps everyone in a thight grip.

I am still here :)

... but I also see Massive Voodoo losing some energies since the early days of 2018. Not in a bad way. Do not get me wrong. There are still so many tasks to do, so many plans made together as the MV Team and so many good vibes to spread, but time is missing for everyone. Somehow the blog has to grow older beside the men or man running it :D

I for my part decided that I can not held up the pace I did for several years with posting kind of daily.
Life, priorities and other things kept my heart and mind distracted and I decided to break my time I can put into the MV jungle down to one or maximum three blog posts a week. Depending on my mood. This is a routine I would like to run when posting alone in here. Once in a while there will be another monkey writing something I am pretty sure and also some guest monkeys will drop their articles. I am pretty sure.

The Massive Voodoo pace will change.

Therefore I have to put my mind on ease. With Massive Voodoo I always feel a little bit of anxiety and expectations on my shoulder as our readers might want more and more and more. In 2018 these expectations were not matched, even I tried to get up on my feet again and again or rise from the ashes as a phoenix.. I know that these expectations are not there. They are putting pressure on me from my inside. So I am going back to the thing I can do best: Open my heart to it to let it go.

I decided for my work and time I can put in Massive Voodoo that I will focus on the quality of blogposts again. This means quantity gets less, but quality rises up. This year we got two contests ready for you, already planned behind the curtains and soon to be announced. A lot of link ups and photo repairs have to be done in the tutorial section and workshop area. This will happen. In its own pace. Not with pressure from myself.

Still there are points to catch up with.
I want to excuse myself for the long waiting time on workshop reviews and mainly for still missing parcels from MV's 2017 challenge. I will sent these out this week. Priorites first, but I also have to skip some things I was trying to force myself to catch up with from the past, for example 75 tutorials and step by steps I could write right now of models I have painted in the last two years. I just do not find the time for putting all these out. I am pretty sure I will do one or two here and there when the muse for writing strikes me, but without it it just would be hollow and that is not what I write up.

My personal focus via MV
will be mainly on teaching, private coachings and workshops. This is what I can do best and what my 2do lists yell at me these days. So much to plan, organise and finish behind the curtains.

If you want to join one of these seminars,
feel invited to check back with

Once in a while I will definatly drop a finished model or a tutorial I am sure.

So, until then.
Stay tuned.
Do not expect too much :D

... but happy painting will be back!
Promised.

Roman

by Androsch

Hello Happy Painters!

My name is Andi and I feel very excited to be a part of the jungle from now on! :)

I live in Graz, Austria
and have been painting, converting and recently also sculpting miniatures since 2006 (not counting dipping Warhammer figures in my youth). My miniaturepainting journey got a boost in 2009, when I first met Roman at his very first Beginner Class which was held in my hometown. Eversince then it has been a wonderful hobby and parttime-job for me to paint and create.

My workshop miniature from 2009 (no demonettes back then ;))

I visited many workshops and shows from then on,
but Massivoodoo and especially Roman have always been my main source of inspiration and learning. The miniature painting community has been such a great thing, adding so much fun and good friends to my life. Maybe you have seen those guys with strange accent and orange clothing at some events, which call themselves the "Pumpkinpainters". I'm very happy to be a part of them and hope they will still like me, even if I also join Massivevoodoo now. ;)

There's always been a strong connection between MV and Graz

Some of my work:

Conversion of Raffa's Knucklehead bust

The weddingcake figures for my good friends Sandra & Kurt (the water dried later ;)). Sculpted an painted.
Roman Cavallry officer
In my other life, I'm a freelancing webdesigner and -developer.
My decision to work in a creative business was largely influenced by my painting hobby, after beeing unhappy with just beeing a programmer. As far as hobbies are concerned, I also like playing tennis, football and golf, although I might not be in my greatest shape right now. ^^

Lately, I'am trying to improve at painting atmosphere (check out Romans Advanced Workshop) in my projects. Well, I try...

A pirate conversion of Hayden from the workshop

My future goal is to create more storytelling pieces and get away a bit from "just painting pretty miniatures", by improving my way to communicate and express myself through colors. Furthermore, I will be helping Roman with his Beginner Classes as a workshop trainee in the near future. :)

At last, I'm very happy to say the following words without having to care about plagiarism...

Keep on happy painting! ;)

MV-Update

by Massive Voodoo

Hey jungle readers,

we wish you a happy new year! We hope, that you enjoyed your days with your families and friends and your (already well stashed) hobby-room has received one or two new play things :)

Like it is most of you, the time after Christmas and New Years Eve is filled with a lot of work for the jungle. Roman is diving deep into the flood of mails he still has to answer. Please be a bit more patient, if you wait for an answer from him. As he is focussing on this matter, things will be a bit more quiet here on the website, but the other monkeys will try to cover him as best as they can. For example, Peter and Josua are enjoying a painting week together in the studio and will surely update you all with nice pictures on the MV-Facebookpage. Make sure to stay updated :)

We wish you a good start into 2018 and may the gods of color be with you all :)

Information: MV Ultimate Paint Rack

by Massive Voodoo

Hello fellow painters,

since several months - weekly - we got some questions about MV's Ultimate Paint Rack dropping in.
And we always tell everyone what we can say.

As MV monkey Raffa is the project manager of the Paint Rack Campaign and also the mastermind behind the paintrack we other MV monkeys do know little about it, nor are we part of the process.

These are the facts right now:
  •  The MV Ultimate Paint Rack is not on sale at the moment
  •  We do not know about future production plans
  •  We can not give you an estimated date when they will be available
  •  There is no option to hand out the design files
  •  We can only give you the information Raffa gave us

From today on we will link all messages, mails and questions regarding the future of MV's Ultimate Paint Rack to this post as typing plenty of messages a week to this topic can be quite frustrating, if there is nothing new or good to tell you.

Stay tuned and hope for the future!

NOVA OPEN interviews Roman and Raffa

by Massive Voodoo

Massive Voodoo is getting excited!

NOVA OPEN 2017 is approaching!

Make sure to enter the Capital Palette Painting Competiton!

This interview was formerly posted on NOVA Open's facebook page, but the jungle thought to copy it in here too! Enjoy!

Letting the Miniature Speak to You:

NOVA Open Speaks with Raffa Picca and Roman Lappat of Massive Voodoo

Recently, the NOVA Open had a chance to talk with Raffa "Picster" Picca and Roman "jarhead" Lappat, the co-founders of Massive Voodoo, "a blog by a group of friends about the passion of miniature painting and sculpting."

As friends and co-founders, Raffa and Roman expanded the blog from a showcase of their work and teaching tutorials to a comprehensive multi-lingual resource for painting and creating miniatures that allows individuals to learn about topics ranging from the theory of painting to approaches for sculpting miniatures. The artists have also turned the website into a storefront for the Massive Voodoo team's miniatures and have published an art book titled Figure-Art showcasing their impressive work.

Raffa and Roman joined the NOVA Open Community as NOVA Open 2015 seminar instructors and model donors to the NOCF after Mike Brandt, CEO of NOVA Open and Justin McCoy, Owner of Secret Weapon Miniatures recruited them. "NOVA Open was a great event and we are really lucky and happy to be back this year," said Raffa. This year, the artists will be teaching the following courses:

Roman Lappat
Beauty of Skin
Project Log: "The Last Light"
Roman's Blending School
Roman's Speed Painting Master Class
Tattoos and Warpaint

Raffaele Picca
Birth of a Miniature
Converting Miniatures Made Easy
Freehand Painting
Laid Back Speed Painting
Painting Faces

Participants interested in these classes should register as soon as possible, classes such as Roman's Blending School have already sold out and have a waitlist.

Massive Voodoo will also be generously donating two miniatures each for the NOCF charity raffle: Raffa will donate "The Great White Werebull" and "First Ranger Mira" while Roman will donate "Crashed X-Wing" and "Kill. Humans." The NOVA Open is excited to have Raffa and Roman contribute their immense talents to the convention and NOCF.

Check the NOVA's Charity Foundation!

Read below to learn more about the founding of Massive Voodoo, their insights into the process for painting miniatures, and the artists' seminars for NOVA Open 2016.

Roman and Raffa's Founding of Massive Voodoo,
"A Living Room of Friends Sharing the Same Passion"
Massive Voodoo grew from Roman's idea to create a blog that showcased his work and tutorials for painting miniatures, an idea that Raffa helped shaped. As Raffa noted, "we were having a chat, and I said to him, "why don't you use a blog, I think it would fit much better to what you want to do." After launching the blog in September 2009, Raffa and Roman decided to invite their friends to collaborate on the website. "It was a bit boring to do it alone," Raffa said, so "we started to invite friends and basically it was a living room of friends sharing the same passion."

As Massive Voodoo has grown, the artists have found that their audiences' growth as miniature painters and sculptors has been the most fulfilling component of operating the blog. As Raffa explained, "if you see the progress of regular visitors - and the way they lose the fear of doing things wrong and try out new things - that's the best part." In light of these successes, the origin of its name remains a mystery. "No one exactly knows why it was called Massive Voodoo," Raffa said. "We needed a name and then we found a name," Roman added, laughing.

The artists' work through their website has allowed them to note evolutions in painting styles across the world over time. "When I think back when I started, the differences in the styles were much more visible, like the French style, the Spanish style," Raffa noted, "but these days, the styles are more mixed." According to Roman, the melding of these styles emerged from the miniature communities' willingness to share tips and ideas online. As he observed, "nobody is saying, 'hey, I'm keeping my secrets.' Everyone is sharing their ideas and I think that leads to a better mix of different styles."
Letting the Miniature Speak to You: The Artists' Inspiration for Painting Miniatures and Advice for Other Hobbyists.

While Roman and Raffa have refined their painting techniques over time, the two artists explain that letting their intuition guide the painting process plays a major role in their work. As Raffa explains, "I don't try to think too much about color schemes, I just try to paint the way the miniatures are talking to me. If you look at the mini, often times you already see the story you want to tell other people." Roman agrees, noting that "it's a vision you receive from the model and then you just paint it."
The artists' emphasis on letting intuition play a role in painting miniatures extends to their advice for other hobbyists.

As Roman reflects,
I would say it is important if you start painting, try to know where you are on your path. You're walking a path as a miniature painter like you're walking a path as a guitar player. You start to play the strings, then you learn another song. You're growing and going forward in your journey. That's the same for miniature painters. And very often people compare themselves to other people who are much further on their own personal journey and they get frustrated. So know where you're walking on the path.

Roman agrees, noting that painters should also "play around" with different painting styles and see what works for them rather than rigidly following one approach. "Maybe wet blending is not your thing, maybe you like glazes, or the other way around," he said, "but if you never try it out, you will never find out."

Blending Courses and Crashed X-Wings:
Roman and Raffa's Road to NOVA Open 2016
This year, Raffa and Roman will serve as instructors for ten courses and donate two models each to the NOCF raffles. The artists drew inspiration from video games and found objects for their NOCF models. Roman's "Crashed X-Wing" came from a moment of inspiration that turned a former student's gift into the miniature. After a student gave him a miniature of the Star Wars ship, Roman kept it in a drawer for two years since he could not find the right idea for the miniature. After seeing some garbage on the street however, he said "I thought that it looks like a planet and a place to have the X-Wing crash there. So I was inspired by garbage."

The inspiration for Raffa's "First Ranger Mira" model came from a mage in the Witcher 3 video game: "I tried to use her as an inspiration and recreate it with red hair and a green color scheme," he said.

The artists are also looking forward to helping their students improve their skills as artists and sculptors at their NOVA Open 2016 seminars. In addition to "Laid Back Speed Painting," Raffa is excited about "The Birth of a Miniature" seminar since it will "show the process of a complete figure basically from start to finish, from the first drawing of an idea to the finished product." The artist said the course reflects his growing interest in miniature sculpting. "It's the thing that I'm doing the most - sculpting, creating my own concepts, and casting," he said, noting that he works resin and silicone for casting and different clays and putties for sculpting.

Roman also is excited about "Roman's Blending School" since he believes it will address the frustration that many painters feel "from their blending technique or their blending results." In order to address this issue, his seminar will use a unique approach where students work on color transitions on canvas before applying these concepts to miniatures. "This will be a fun class that teaches many blending techniques," he said, "but it also takes away being scared of blending mistakes. So I'm looking forward to it because it gives participants a lot of freedom when they're at home working again."

The NOVA Open and NOCF would like to thank Raffa and Roman for generously giving their time and effort to support our work and causes.

See you all in a couple of days in DC for a great and amazing time at the NOVA OPEN 2017!
Safe travels everyone!

MV Wear - Update!

by Massive Voodoo

Hey Jungle Painters!

We planned to do this for quite some time and today we finally finished with streamlining our Massive Voodoo Wear store.

We threw out a lot of designs and products that were not that popular and cluttered the shop making it hard to navigate. Now there are only our most favorite designs - and two new products!

The MSV VDO Hoodie and T-Shirt.

The new design being worn by Raffa at the Duke of Bavaria 2016 (with Ben Curry and Mike Schaefer! Cheers guys! )

We printed this design as a test run and so far only Raffa and Roman had them. We were asked by a lot of people where to get the hoodies so others seem to like them too.
So if you like the design too, your can get yours now in the MV Wear store!

And guess what, we are even offering free worldwide shipping when you get two products and use the voucher code 'TWOWOO' at the check out!

But it's only until the 1st of May, so just 6 days left.

We hope you like the new design and also the less cluttered MV Wear store.

MV News on this week!

by Massive Voodoo

Hi Jungle People,

this week will be rather silent from Roman's side. We already told you this.
We will still have some blogposts, but Roman needs to skip Tutorial Voting this week. Sadly.

On the upcoming weekend Roman is holding his first ever brand-new and fresh class concept with a full class of 14 students in Augsburg, Germany:

MV's Jar's Advanced Class.
He is in the thick of finalising preparations for this event, detailing his schedules and printing work sheets. Even as a quiet experienced teacher in miniature painting he is really excited and is looking forward to give his students the best experience and learning they can get out of this weekend.

Well, Roman still got some bigger things on his schedule, for example writing the review of his last Beginner's Class in Beckingen or the Duke of Bavaria Event review. Unfortanetly this will not happen this week. The jungle whispers that this week you will mainly see finished miniatures so Roman can catch up of the past here on the blog too.

Also keep in mind that the great MV Mad Max Car Contest 2 comes to an end on Wednesday, 2nd May 2016. Right now we already have 14 confirmed entries.
Finish yours, we can not wait to witness it!

Stay tuned and see you for article voting next week!
Keep on happy painting!

MV Jungle Newsflash

by Massive Voodoo

Hey Jungle,

it has been quiet on the voodoo front. Now it is time to roll up the sleeves again.
Thanks to Peter who showed two of his cool projects the jungle was not completly silent while Roman was on vacation. Roman is back at the desk, painting table and office desk. Vacation is over and Roman spent some great days with friends.

Now it is time to roll up things for Roman and he likes to start with an overview on MV these days.
Let's start with priorisations. Important things first:

MV Zombie Community Project
You might remember the announcement of MV's big community project were we asked for your help concerning a horde of painted zombies. Of course there are those really cool jungle painters who already helped us. Let's show them:

The community base grows with Zombies:
Thanks to the early helpers, three different persons, three different zombies, but that envelope was so cool. Thanks to Matthias' daughter who even draw a painting for the MV studio! Thanks to Andi, Matthias from Austria and - dayumn, who painted up the Fatty?

It grows even more as Sergio from Spain added a small gang of painted models and some more models as a donation. Thank you, Sergio!!

Of course Bene and Roman are painting Zombies too whenever there is time. Not only the community base is growing in numbers, also Bene's and Roman's. Thanks to Erik too who is ninja-like adding a painted Zombie once in a while too!

We heard rumors about a lot of french painters going crazy with helping us. Thanks gentlemen, we can not wait to add your models to the gang. We even saw some Zombie kids by Minisocles.fr approach from this direction.

And we already recieved the next parcel with Zombie support, but it did not make it in this update.
Next one it'll be.

If you want to support the project too,
please check this post with all information!

MV's Jungle Painter of the Month
This section might be new and we are not sure if we are able to keep it up, but sometimes you just have to do something. This is the time to introduce Chris. A german miniature fanatic and a guy who is regularly visiting MV classes to improve his skills. Beside being a great student with big improvements, Chris is also a very kind and nice person and after he did sent us how happy he is with his brand new MV apron this we have to praise him here as MV's Jungle Painter of the Month!

On the first class Roman encountered Chris as a student it was obvious: This guy will learn fast. Roman recalls even saying: "Such a nice guy, but so many questions!" This is always a good sign for a student. Striving forward since then Chris also took part in Roman's MV's Basing Class earlier this year and finished his first display piece ever:

A letter from Jeff:

"Hey guys!

After your instruction at the NOVA Open I feel like my work has continued to improve. This weekend I made the cut in Sci Fi single at Crystal Brush (if I'm understanding the website right there were only 5). This may not be a big deal to the guys at the top of the game like you but I was SUPER excited to even be considered next to the winning pieces from guys like Kirill and Camelson.

Anyway I just wanted to share with you what one of your students was working on and say thanks again for pouring some jungle rocket fuel into an amateur painter's gas tank last fall at NoVA!"

More about this years NOVA OPEN soon!

So far on this Monday.
Read you tomorrow for tutorial voting.
Keep on happy painting!
