So we got a new RV. - Warning. A bit picture intensive.

Hoping to do a little traveling if the world doesn't go down the river without a paddle.

Anyway, pictures for my Mom to see. (^_^)

I expect you can click on the picture and it will get a little bigger. It has an electric tongue jack. I would have shown you the whole front, but it is luvbug season and we haven't washed it yet.
If you really want to know what the front looks like, look up Rockwood Mini Lite 2606WS on your search engine of choice and I am sure you can find a picture. The trailer is three or four feet shorter than our old trailer, which you may remember we finally left here in 2010 to live in while we were making the house more or less livable. Anyway, one of the reasons that trailer got left here is it was a pain to get in the gate. The gate is an old cattle gap gate. OLD. And while the cattle gap has long ago filled in, it is a fixed width. And there are the drainage ditches between property and road. Anyway, hubby said he had no problem getting the new trailer in. It also is a lot lighter than our old trailer, being mostly aluminum. It weighs in at just under 6000 pounds as it comes from the dealer.

It has a large pass through area. And the doors are magnetic. I like that. No latches to break and land the door on your head. It comes with an outside grill if you don't want to heat the inside of the trailer in summer.

It has electric stabilizers and an electric awning. And the appropriate tools if you have no electricity.

A drawback of the electric stabilizers is that they to not level the trailer. The blocks in front of the steps are so I can get in easier. It has a ladder on the back, which neither hubby nor I will ever use; but we may think of something to do with it, haha!

Entry, control panel and entertainment unit with storage cabinets. The TV swings out, but is not on a swing arm. It swings out in case for some reason you might want to watch it outside - where there is a mount and cable connection for it. There is some storage behind the TV as well, though I don't know what I would want to put there.

Theater seats that face the TV, the dining area. I had lowered the table and was trying to figure out how to make the legs fold up completely when it just tipped all the way up and ended where it is. It is a snug enough fit for a parked trailer, so I left it there for now. It makes a good spot for the cat's litter box. The stove, fridge, counter sink area. Don't know if I mentioned the seats heat. Good for sore backs!

Bedroom. That is a small cabinet and closet area that slides in for travel.

We looked at dozens of trailers from probably a dozen dealers. This big shower is what sold hubby on this trailer. Has a medicine cabinet and a linen closet for towels and what not.

I like the shades, too. There are three options. Completely open, daytime light and night time.

Pretty neat.

Lots of little storage spaces here and there. Good for short trips of a week or so, which is all we are thinking of right now. Don't know if we would drive the ALCAN again, though we did back in the 70's when we got assigned to bases in Alaska. Never took the ferry; but I don't know if the ferry does vehicles with RVs.

This was just to point out some of the storage, some of which you probably already noticed. With the dinette, you can also lift the seats up to get into the storage area. And if you need more storage space under the bed than the three drawers provide, you can lift the foot of the bed for storage.

So that, I think, is enough to give you all, and my Mom, an idea of what our new trailer is like. You all be safe and God bless.

Third time's a charm?

I've been trying for 3 days to do a post. Blogger mobile has been a brat. I actually have time to use my laptop, so let's see if it will work today.

We've been here, finally, since Thursday. Three days. Hubby's brother asked how he was doing. Hubby said we are feeling a bit... weird?
We spent most of a week on the road. Got here the first time, the afternoon of the 6th. Drove straight through. Had several white knuckle moments - like rain when I could not see hubby in front of me - but we (I!) made it. I drove my new to me car, pulling our small utility trailer; he drove his truck, pulling our big utility trailer.
The utility trailer started out fishtailing. A lot! Scared the daylights out of me and I had to drive slower, too. Hubby figured (rightly) it was because of its design and made some modifications to it, in a Lowe's parking lot.

May look wonky, but it improved the tow-ability 1000%. Since it is a 'tilt' trailer, he put a hitch pin on it, too. It worked great. Only took a couple hours longer to get here than usual.

We stayed 2 days and then went right back to NC to get the last of the stuff we couldn't load on the 2 trailers. Rented a U-Haul - can't say enough good about that - and started loading the most important of what we couldn't get before. (Air compressor, bed frame, etc.)

We still had a few things to load when it started raining. And I do mean pouring. We both got completely soaked. And no way to change. So, we decided we were done packing the U-Haul - after packing a few more things, got on the road and after about 2 hours (6PM our time) we got a hotel room so we could get into some dry clothes.

We took our time getting back here to the farm. A luxury we were never able to afford ourselves before - at least in our minds.
Now we keep feeling like we need to hurry so we can get back to NC. Like we usually do.
Except that, like he told his brother when he called, there is no back to get back to.
There could be. I mean we decided to rent the house instead of sell, but there isn't really. He is still coming to grips with the fact that he is retired.

On another note, we tried painting the floor of the kitchen. He decided it wouldn't do what we wanted it to, so we are trying a self-stick tile. We put 3 pieces down, to see how it will hold, and so far we are really liking it.

I know I am way behind. Will try to catch up,but now that he is retired and we are here, I don't have as much time to be online.
Hope you are all doing well. Have a blessed, wonderful week! ♥

Had a good trip

Took a few pictures. Most of what I took is just for our records. With so much stuff in the house, we wanted to document what was there.
As much as you can with stuff still in boxes, haha.

Gosh it was HOT! I may have said that already. I forget things too easily. ugh.

We got everything done we wanted, so we didn't stay the whole week as rain was getting more and more in the forecast.

We made pretty good time both ways, but had problems with the utility trailer yet again!
This time we blew a tire on the interstate. Big hole right through the belts.
We don't carry a spare.
Fortunately (?) it is a dual axle trailer so it can go with 3 tires. We carry cargo straps.

Little straps for general use.

And big straps for heavy duty stuff. Rated at 10,000 pounds breaking strength.

We ran the end of the strap through the wall of the trailer and hooked it around the axle where the flat tire had been, then over the top of our load and ratcheted it down to level off the axle for the other tire.
Made it home on 3 wheels. Kind of like a 3-legged dog. ;o)

No pictures. Sorry. I was traffic watch in case someone looked like they weren't paying attention or didn't care, while hubby did the ratchet. Got back on the road in about 20-30 minutes. We've done it before.

Did see this neat thing when we hit NC.

My son told me it was probably an M-88 A1 Tracked Recovery Vehicle. He said they used them in Iraq.
He said it was possible it was one of the newer vehicles, but I'm going with his first impression.

Almost have laundry caught up. Have a half dozen boxes packed already for the next trip. I'm hoping I can cram our trailer with everything we have left, but it will be close. May take us 2 more trips.
The next trip won't be until July, after he has officially retired.
Wow.
27 days.

Hope you all have a wonderful, blessed week. ♥

P.S. I'm pretty sure word verification is off for me, but they keep screwing around with it, so if you find it on, please let me know. I'm pretty sure you can email if nothing else. I despise it and may stop replying to those of you who use it. I know it's rude and I'm sorry, but it's worse now than it was before.
