Morsiamen kylphuone - Bridal bathroom

Alkuvaiheessa harrastusta, vuonna 2007, tein Morsiamen kylpyhuone -aiheisen pienoishuoneen. Käytin silloin tavanomaista liimaa kankaissa sillä seurauksella, että vihkipukuun on ajan myötä ilmestynyt ruskeita laikkuja. Yllä olevassa kuvassa puku on vielä siisti. Alla näkee, mitä perusliima tekee kankaalle. Oli aika päivittää tämä pienoishuone!

The Bridal bathroom was one of the roomboxes I made at the beginning of my hobby, in 2007. I used ordinary glue at that time, also for fabrics, which wasn't very smart. In the photo above you can see a white wedding dress and in the photo below you can see what ordinary white glue does to it over time - ugly brown spots have appeared here and there. It was high time to update this roombox!

Lisäsin hiussoljen, ammeen reunalle saippuapussin, saippuan ja muutaman pullon. Lisäksi vaihdoin puvun ja lattialla viruvan pyyhkeen. Pienoishuoneen ajatuksena on mysteeri: Onko morsian vain käynyt kylvyssä vai karannut?

I added one of the hair slides on the dressing table and the soap pouch, a soap bar, and some bottles on the edge of the bath tub. I also placed a new wedding dress on the chair and a crisp new towel on the floor. The idea of the roombox is a mystery: Has the bride just taken a bath or has she run away?

Virkattu saippuapussi - Crocheted soap pouch

Maria Malmströmin kirjassa Nukkekoti Väinölän vuosi on ohje virkatulle saippuapussille. Useampi versio tuli ensin kokeiltua ohjeen mukaan mutta usein käy niin, että "sävellän" itse. Niin kävi nytkin. Lopulta hankalinta oli saada saippua pussin sisälle mutta se onnistui! Valmis pussi päätyi ammeen reunalle Morsiamen kylpyhuoneeseen.

There are instructions on how to crochet a soap pouch in the book Nukkekoti Väinölän vuosi (in Finnish only) by Maria Malmström. I made a few of these exactly according to the instructions but ended up doing my own thing, as usual. The most difficult task was to insert the soap inside the pouch. Anyway, the pouch was placed on the edge of the tub in the Bridal bathroom.

Hiussolkia - Hair slides

Tällaisia hiussolkiä näkee usein nahkaisina ja miksei niitä voisi tehdä myös mininä erittäin ohuesta nahasta. Nämä on kuitenkin tehty fimosta ja kuva on tuputeltu lautasliinatekniikalla soljen päälle. Viktoriaanisella ajalla muotia olivat samanmalliset merikilpikonnan kuoresta valmistetut hiussoljet. Lisäsin yhden niistä Morsiamen kylpyhuone -pienoishuoneen pöydälle.

You can often see these types of hair slides made of leather and they could probably be also made as miniatures from very thin leather. These, however, are made of Fimo and the picture has been placed on the slide using the napkin technique. During the Victorian era hair slides like these were very fashionable but they were made of sea turtle's shell. I added one of the slides on the table in the Bridal bathroom -roombox.
