Happy New Year!

~

~
As another year comes to a close, my heart is full of thanks to God for all of His many blessings.  There is a River is one of Jeep's favorite songs and it has a tremendous message.   Please listen as he plays the piano and sings it for you.   The pictures of the churches and their stained glass windows come from several different places.  Maybe as I learn more about making these slideshows, I will be able to improve the quality.

Jeep and I wish you a New Year filled with God's Peace, Love, and Joy!

A Blessing for the New Year
Lord, as a New Year begins
We come to you and ask for your blessing
We pray that you would give us joy to fill our days
And peace to fill our hearts and love to fill our lives.
Thank you for the plans you have for us in the New Year.

Thanking God for you and praying your new year is blessed in every way.

A to Z on Mondays ~ Letter 'B'

B is for Birthday!   Happy Birthday, Darla!

Most of you know Darla, the darling of Florida flower gardens.   She has something blooming year round!  If you don't believe it, just visit her very interesting blog, More Family and Flowers.
Darla, I 'borrowed' the picture below from your blog!   Hope you have a wonderful Birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARLA!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
B is also for Buckeye Butterfly
This is the first year I have seen the Buckeye Butterfly in our yard.
These are rather ragged looking but they have such pretty colors!   I can see purple, orange, brown, white and even turquoise on its body!
is for Buck
I just couldn't resist this one!
On December 23rd, my grandson, Jesse bagged the deer below.  This was his second one this season.
Not to be out-done, my son, Joe, posed with the one he killed today (Dec. 27th).
Joe posted this on FaceBook with one word....."Finally!"
(These pictures of the deer and hunters were made with a cell phone.)
Christmas Eve
It's Christmas Eve and the rain continues to come down as we start out to attend Holy Communion at First United Methodist Church in town.   I don't expect many people will be out on a night like this.  All the stores are closed and the wet streets glisten with reflections from the many colored lights.  When we get to the church, most all the parking spaces are already filled.   We thought we would be early and there are so many already here.  The back of the scanctuary is filled with people waiting for other family members to arrive so they can take communion together.   The only light is from the many candles and the lighted Christmas tree.   The Nativity in the foyer is lighted with candles, there are candles in each window and candles of the Advent wreath and Christ candle at the altar.  Soft Christmas music fills the air and you hear "Merry Christmas" greetings exchanged softly as peolpe enter.   As each family circle is completed they approach the altar and kneel as they receive the elements of bread and juice.  The Pastor asks a special blessing for each family and they are dismissed.    As we leave, our thoughts are on Jesus and remember with thankful hearts, what He has done for us.
May God's Peace, Love and Joy be with you and your family!
Jackson's First Christmas
 Our grandson, Jackson, is seeing Santa Claus for the first time.    He's checking Santa out to see if he can really trust him.   Did I hear him say he wanted a PONY????
Okay, now I think Jackson is ready to get down off Santa's lap!
Jackson will be a year old January 27th, and he took his first steps this past week.   He has been a very good little boy, so I hope Santa will bring him everything he wants for Christmas!
We Wish You a Merry Christmas!
New Blog: "Wings Like Eagles"
In this picture, Charles is holding a live Hummingbird.
I would like to introduce you to, Charles, who has just started a blog, Wings Like Eagles. Charles is one of Jeep's HAM Radio buddies and has been good friend for a long time. He has recently started posting some of his pictures on Wunder Photos, and won the Approver's Choice Award on one of the first few he posted. He lives in rural Rankin County, Mississippi, United States.
Charles is a good United Methodist, has been a Marine, MS Highway Patrolman, and a Pilot.  If you choose to follow his blog, you will be rewarded by seeing some good photography and reading some interesting posts. Here is something I copied from his profile:
"I was born in 1952,the youngest of nine children.I am married to an angel. Father to one adult son. I'm a Grand father know as "Pop". I was born and raised in Mississippi. My work took me to every cross road, barrow pit,(known as a "barrpit", and community in this culturally rich state. My second career took me to most of the states. I had the privilege of visiting some of the most beautiful places in North America. The more I traveled, the more I appreciated returning home to the Magnolia state."
Merry Christmas, Charles!!
C is for Cosmos ~ A to Z on Mondays (backwards)
~
Returning from our little trip this fall, we spotted these Cosmos in the median near Atlanta.
 Jeep pulled over and stopped so I could make pictures.  I had never seen this many Cosmos planted in one place!  I just love the colors!  I suppose I should be posting something Christmasy,
 but I just wanted to show you these pretty flowers.
Skywatch Friday
~
I reached back into the archives for these SkyWatch pictures which were made in South Dakota.
We stopped and made pictures as the clouds gathered over these endless fields of beautiful sunflowers.
It seemed like the sky and horizon stretched out forever!
A lone person on the left is surveying the moon-like landscape of the Badlands.
It felt as if we were driving right up into the sky!  Love those clouds!
This is another scene from the Badlands of South Dakota.   I had never thought I would like the Badlands, but it was one of the most interesting places we visited!
For more skies around the world, check out Skywatch Friday
