What a Day!

Yesterday started out, admittedly, with a bad attitude. I was exhausted from the chaos of the week and just wanted to enjoy a Saturday for once, but I had been convinced into running the Christmas Run 10K and was definitely not excited. But, the plan was to drive downtown to the race and meet my two sisters who were going to watch the kiddos while Harris and I ran. We get there and were shocked to see THOUSANDS of people lined up to run. We hadn't even picked up our packets and the Boise High building was jammed packed you couldn't even push a stroller through. So Harris goes to stand in the long line while I hung out waiting for my sisters. Then I get a phone call from Whitney, telling me her and Callie just got in a car accident. I thought she was joking but sadly, she wasn't. I'm soooo glad they were OK. It was a bad one that it literally is a miracle that neither of them are even minorly injured. Anyways, obviously we are now babysitterless. I'm looking around at the thousands and thousands of people thinking I can't believe out of that many people that I didn't know one single one. I finally find one of my sweet old YW who is running the race. I asked her if her mom was coming (also our YW president). She wasn't sure so I called her and she told me she had a sick child at home so she couldn't but her husband was coming and would be happy to watch them! At this point the race was supposed to start in 15 minutes and he hadn't even left the house yet, so we weren't sure he would make it before the race started. Harris and I lined up in the back of the line, with both kids in the stroller, anxiously watching for him. We decided if he didn't make it we would just run the short race with the kids. The race started and we still didn't see him. We start running, well actually very seriously slowly walking through the start line (total traffic jam, that's how many people there were) and low and behold our hero shows up at the corner right as we're about to go through the start line. We literally ran the kids to him and ran off saying "goodluck and thanks"! It was so nice of him and we got to run the race, which I ended up being very proud of. I felt like I had a good time and felt really good for accomplishing this race, which was actually a pretty difficult 10K with almost 3 miles of uphill. Anyways, it changed my day and attitude around. There was such Christmas spirit there, with choirs singing throughout the race, cute old ladies cheering outside of their house, Santa Claus. I'm happy I did it, it's what I needed to get out of the slumpy feeling I've had lately, or what I'm calling my "quarter life crisis." So, I'm happy for pushing myself and accomplishing something, I'm happy my sister's are miraculously OK, and I'm happy that I got to run a race with Harris. That was fun! Although, check out these pictures of Harris AKA Buddy the Elf :)

'Tis The Season

I don't have much to say, just that life is good. I have two beautiful, healthy children that I love more than anything, a caring and hardworking husband, a house that used to be a house, but is so much more than that now, and so many other blessings. I can't wait for Christmas this year, to have my ENTIRE family here, together....sooooo excited. I love them, they are the only ones I can TRULY be myself around and amazingly they still love me! I feel the real Christmas spirit this year, the love of Christ and the many blessings His life has brought us all. Life is good.
