I Yam More Than I Yam

 Sunday Surprise Day.

Thanks to the efforts of Craig Yoe most of the Popeye comic stories Bud Sagendorf did when het was pased over as the artist of the strip he had already assisted on in the late thirties were rerpinted. But it turns out he did more than Popeye alone. Here is anotehr interesting bit of comic book work he did in the forties.

Popeye The Sunday Man

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Continuing my run of Popeye Sundays by Bud Sagendorf from his beginning in 1959, we have now arrived in late 1962. I don't have all of them for each month, but quite a few. After honing his skills on the comic books in the fifties, he was finally doing what he wanted to do all along.

I Have What I Have

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

I have a huge selection of early Popeye Sundays by Bud Sagendorf and I have been showing them every once in a while. So, taken up from quite some time ago, here are some more from 1962 followed by some black and white smaller 'thirds' I picked up somewhere else. If you like them follow the link for more.

Eye PLeasing

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Last week I showed two samples of Ralph Stein's advertising work. I thought I had already shared the last months of his run as the artist/finisher of the late fifties Popeye strip over the script/pencils of Bela Zaboli, but I could find them anywhere. And this time they are in the right order (which the run of Bud Sagendorf's Popeye following this for some reason didn't).
