Gross Extrapolations

Along with the Count Screwloose I showed last week, I got a set of That's My Pop, that look more like Milt Gross' actual work, bt some online sources say it is by Bob Dunn as well. I also had a clipping around that suggests there also was a daily version.

The Milt iIs On

Tuesday Comic Strip Day.

Milt Gross made newspaper strips from the nineteen twenties to the nineteen forties. There is so much material out there and his pages fetch such high prices on ebay, thatit is a miracle that so little of it is actually collected in books. I would ill for a book on Dave's Delicatessen, preferable with blow by blow commentary from Paul Tumey (wo does that sort of thing on his Screwball Comics page (see the link to the right). A selection.

Gross Negligence

Monday Cartoon Day.

I wasn't able to scan the promised further installments of Milt Gross' silent book reviews for Ken magazine, so they'll have to wait until next week. Instead, here are four censecutive episdes of a bit of illustrated dialect humor he did in the forties for This Week magazine. They were taken from his last book. After that he did contribute strips to the first twenty or so issues of ACG's comic book series The Killroys, as well as one issue of Milt Gross Funnies. I have added the story for The Killroys #13.
