Early Days

Monday Big Sky Day.

What's so great about early days of any newspaper strip is, that you can see the artist finding out the rules of his world, bith visually and characterwise. Still Tom K. Ryan knew pretty soon what he was about.

Whatch Them Roll Along

Saturday Leftover Day.

Lately I have been cleaning some of the earliest Sunday from Tumbleweeds. I remember the strip fondly from it's daily appearance in our family's Dutch newspaper. We never got the Sunday, though. Dutch papers don't do Sundays. I have also been translating some of them for my friends and I must say they can be hard to translate as well. But in the process I made and saved copies for this page as well.

When The West Was Snarky

Friday Comic Strip Day.

And here is the next lot of Tumbleweeds on the day it should be: Fridays. Which means I have a week to get the next lot done. Sadly there seems to be something wrong with my disc or scans and some of them keep stalling my Illustrator suite. Come back next week to see how it turned out!

The Weeds Came Tumbling Down

Monday Bonus Day.

Last Friday I accidentally used a set of Steve Roper Sundays I had already shown a couple of weeks ago. I had linked to it on the Steve Roper facebook page so I couldn't remove it. But here are the Tumbleweeds Sundays I should have put up instead. If you go back using the link, you will see I have already shown a large portion of the 1970 Tumbleweeds Sundays. And if no one stops me, I will be doing most of 197a and 1972 as well.

Double Down In The West

Friday Tumbleweeds Double Down.

As often as I can, I try to share some of my new Tumbleweeds scans from the earliest period. This week I managed to clean six of them. They were printed quite light and it is not always possible to recreate the colors as well as I think they should be.

Naieve Americans

Friday Comic Strip Day.

What's better on a Friday night than to sit back and watch the Tumbleweeds roll by..?
